As Black Widow - kiss Richard Armitage
-
I have been deaf since my 20s. Poor hearing doesn't always go with increasing age, so it's best not to make assumptions.

Oh I am so with you on audio commentaries - it's something that spoiled the Sherlock dvds for me. Luckily someone on livejournal transcribed the commentaries eventually and that was a big help.

He was there in the aftermath of 9/11 doing some anti-terrorist stuff. He and Sherlock's paths didn't cross much but he was impressed with what he saw. That's what I remember anyway. I have to be able to defibrillate as I work on a cardiac ward - I've been meaning to get it put on a tshirt for like forever so I thought I'd use it as a signature instead.

As Stephen - kiss As Bill - kill Freema Agyeman (Martha in Doctor Who, Alesha in Law and Order UK)

Yes well, we're generally not as clever as you are we? I'm just a boringly normal, sleep-deprived nurse; I'm only clever if it involves trying to stop people dying on me. It's a niche of cleverness if you like, I'm sure you're familiar with such a concept.

I don't find there's any degradation of sound quality in the downloaded things I watch, but sound is really not my thing as due to wearing hearing aids I don't hear sound the same way as everyone else in the first place. As mentioned previously, I rely on subtitles to ensure I don't miss anything that is said. How to download isn't really legal so I don't want to discuss it in a public forum just in case!

Gregson is an original ACD character - wiki has this to say...

kiss Natalie Portman

Yeah, but you can download while you're asleep. I didn't always get great speeds from my internet (maybe double that of a 56k modem), though it has improved recently, but I remember the days when it took 2 hours to download 1 song so maybe I just don't react the same as most people to slow download speeds. I'd rather download over a period of time than try to watch something streamed - my connection makes streaming a bit annoying to say the least.

Going weak at the knees for Lestrade was not something that was anticipated, believe me. For a start, the actor is not my usual 'type' (Lara Pulver and Benedict Cumberbatch are both more my 'usual') so I was kind of surprised. Brains are funny things with the tricks they play. Now Aidan Quinn does not hold the same attraction for me at all, but I still love the character of Gregson. I'd still love Lestrade if someone else played him, I'm sure (a lot of it is in the writing after all) but there wouldn't be that little extra frisson there. Definitely unexpected.

Essentially, Gregson is the Lestrade figure of Elementary. Like BBC Sherlock with Lestrade, CBS have made sure that Gregson is not portrayed as a bumbling, inefficient idiot which pleases me. Having said that I didn't have any major feels for the character up 'til now, and Aidan Quinn hasn't pinged on my radar since he played Daz in Desperately Seeking Susan in 1984 (similar to Rupert Graves not really pinging my radar since he was in Maurice). I watched episode 4 this morning and all I can say is that I have decided I absolutely love Captain Gregson's character. He doesn't make me go wibble like RG's Lestrade, but he is a seriously good bloke. Without being too spoilery he basically tells his Sherlock in this episode that he isn't an idiot and is a detective (it's very relevant to something that I won't detail) and I adore the way AQ plays it. So, for me this show is a keeper. I don't think it will ever eat my brain like BBC Sherlock but I am really enjoying it in the same sort of way that I really enjoy Castle.

Not that I am recommending it of course, but downloading and watching on your own computer can be easier - you also can get hold of subtitles then if needs be (which is why I'm downloading as Elementary is not broadcast over here with subtitles, or the pilot wasn't any way and tv companies don't care about the minority of people who *need* subtitles to watch tv properly, as I learned when I complained to syfy about the lack of Subtitling on Warehouse 13).

I wouldn't be surprised if Douglas Adams intended Dirk Gently to have a Holmesesque air about him - I love Dirk's belief of the interconnectedness of all things. I've not seen the 3 episodes yet, just the pilot, but I do own all 3 books.

Varying sizes from fairly tiny to about 6 inches and at least 5 I think. Maybe I should explain that as a tattooed person myself I do tend to look out for them. Talking of actors with tatts - some of the ones Abby from NCIS has actually are Pauley Perette's own.

correct grammar and spelling are important to me In which case, you won't mind too much if I'm picky.... please note the tongue firmly in cheek btw... It should be 'til not till' as the apostrophe indicates the missed prefix "un" as in "until the next time" in your closing sentence.

I don't know how everyone else pronounces it but I pronounce it as one word like Banff (the town in Scotland and Canada).

I presume you mean Robert Pattinson? If so - Kill. Jonny Lee Miller

With an electronic R2D2 instead of a dice and planets rather than streets. This is the original trilogy game we're talking about btw - never seen the other one. It's the sort of thing that has to be brought along for a holiday with a bunch of geeks for a laugh.

Well, the actors have worked together before onstage (In Frankenstein) and were, quite frankly, pretty damn amazing together. Could be interesting.
