Having read most of the posts here there is one thing I still don't get: How does Eurus do her mind control stuff? Only by using her voice? By saying special combinations of words/phrases? Is it a kind of hypnosis?

I'm planning to do with Sherlock what I did with Harry Potter. After I read the final HP book, I just couldn't go back for a while; it was all so dark, even with it ending in a good place. Then, I finally went back and read the whole series of books again, but this time I read them as Snape's story rather than Harry's story, and that changed my feeling quite a bit. I think I"m going to give watching Sherlock a break for a bit (not talking about it, obviously :D ), and then rewatch all 10 episodes as being the story of Sherlock with a repressed traumatic memory that impacts his trust and how he deals with emotion. I think it will be fun to view it that way. I do think, that's a very good idea! Planning to do the same after a little break. I'm sure I/we will recognize details that make more sense in the complete context - and I'm really looking forward to this revelations!

Woah, this episode was a ride on a rollercoster! So much emotion, so much vulnerability, so much angst, guilt, so much ... of everything! Hey everybody, just wanted to drop a few lines for tonight and say that I really appreciated this episode despite some unsolved questions (eg why is Eurus capable of this strange kind of mind control???) and I'd like to get involved in this discussion! I have watched the ep once so far and there is so much to think about! My ranking so far. 8/10 Good night :-).

What would you like to see in series 4?

Oh, but I truly LOVED her pink scarf and pink gloves in TEH (seriously!) - that's just Molly pure :-)! -
I agree with you in TRF being the most important episode of the whole show so far! First, it is one of the most shocking and spectecular one, second, it rules/reigns the complete S3! But to be honest? I'm fine with it, even with all the riddles that might be in my head. I think wo won't get any full and satisfying explanation how Sherlock and Mycroft and Molly and who else was involved really did it - and that's ok for me, because that makes it so fascinating!!!

Not what Janine hoped for, I think: "just once would have been nice..." It sounds as if she was referring to what you usually do in bed with no clothes on if you are a couple, doesn't it? I'm still wondering whether not sleeping with her was some very weird form of being honorable on Sherlock's part, like fake proposing is okay in his book but sex inside a fake relationship isn't. His morals seem to be a bit old-fashioned - if he has any at all. Somehow, I don't believe he wouldn't have been interested. He looks very pleased with himself over Janine, and he indirectly called her "beautiful" during the wedding speech. I love how immaturely smug he is over the whole affair, it's as if he's saying (to John and himself and anybody who will listen) "See? See? I can do this too, I could have a girl-friend and even get married if I wanted to, but I don't want to, because love is a human error. I'm definitely not alone because I can't find a woman, and this is actually a hot woman - HA!" It's adorable somehow. Good thing he pulled this off with a tough cookie like Janine who is really self-confident and has a great sense of humor. Just imagine him doing something like that to Molly! But he wouldn't, of course... I think Sherlock doesn't actively want to hurt anybody, and he only followed through with the plan to get into Magnussen's office by seducing his secretary because he recognized Janine as a fellow trooper who would eventually see the funny side and not be mortally hurt. He showed a lot better knowledge of human nature there than when he assumed it would be totally fine and hilarious to make John believe he'd killed himself and then turn up years later, expecting a shared laugh over this brilliant little prank. Yes, I know that Janine would have loved to sleep with him - that's why I wonder why she wore HIS shirt - obviously at least she undressed in his bedroom :-). I really like the idea of Sherlock being proud to have a (fake) girlfriend. Although it doesn't seem to me as if he was showing off. Janine was just a tool he used to come close to CAM and I can well imagine that Sherlock has always been convinced that he could seduce a woman. He does the same with Molly, by the way, by flattering her whenever he needs something. Well, well, Sherlock knows how to treat women *ggg*

I think the slapping scene makes it very clear that Molly isn't over Sherlock at all! The engagement is over (although we don't know why and who broke it) and Molly is so upset about the fact that Sherlock has ruined himself again by taking drugs - that's evidence enough! By the way, what are these lines sittything mentioned above? The ones Molly should obviously have said but then were cancelled? Don't know anything about it!! The reason why I think that Molly is still in love with Sherlock is also: In TEH, she comes to Baker Street assuming Sherlock wants to have dinner with her. She would have accepted although being engaged to Tom. But after leaving the train guy's flat Sherlock says something like "you can't do this again" and Molly knows she can't and she (or rather they) don't talk about going to have fish and chips at all. But, to be honest, the reason for this can't be Molly's engagement, because at the beginning of the scene when Sherlock asks her if she wants to solve crimes (and Molly expects an invitation for dinner) she has also been engaged. Do you know what I mean? Why is she about to accept to solve crimes/have dinner, but later both of them know she ca't do it anymore?

Just want to say that I've been quite busy recently so I haven't shown up here very often. At the moment there's a lot of work for me to do - fortunately, so I'm earning some money :-). So don't worry if I won't be here that often for the coming weeks. -

kornmuhme replied to T.o.b.y's topic in Special and Series 4
And here again I can sign (almost) every single word (what I wouldn't like to see is Moriarty coming back - the dead should stay where they are, in their graves). I would love to see the friendship between Molly and Sherlock, too, maybe a little more than that (but definately no relationship!) - let's call it a romantic tense :-). Mycroft is my fave character (apart from Sherlock, John and Molly *ggg*), too and I'd love to go deeper into his character and past in S4!!! -
Not an exact one, I'm afraid. As Carol wondered: Why does anybody does anything? I think Sherlock has a very complex mind so maybe - if asked - he wouldn't even be able to clearly name his own motivations why he does what he does either! Maybe some more details will be revealed during S4 ... By the way, does ACD himself say anything about Sherlock's motivations why he solves crimes instead of committing them?

I can completely sign this, every single word! First of all, I also love the development between Sherlock and Molly - he really slaps him directly into his face: Who elso could and even would do this (without Sherlock's permission, of course B)). By the way, why do you think he lets her do this? Because he thinks he deserves it? Or is he also completetly surprised by Molly's emotions? Or is he that high that he is just too confused to defend? Because - let's be honest - he could have easily stopped Molly, maybe not directly before her first slap, but definately after it! Secondly, I also enjoy seeing Sherlock as a real human being that is capable of feeling anxiety, pain and shock! I know that a lot of people don't like these developments Sherlock goes through in S3, they prefer the extrabrilliant, emotionless and insulting person we get to know in S1 and 2. But I myself am vey glad to see Sherlock emotionally grow!

I'm not sure if they'll show it in German cinemas at all ... And I've NO idea where I can watch it. -
@ T.o.b.y: Yeah, this is my favourite avatar. It's a blue whale. Unfortunately, They've become so rare ... Well, honestly, I don't think "Sherlock" is really popula in Germany. As you'll know, German TV is airing the show again at the moment, but it is never shown at prime time, only lateĀ® in the evening. Or have you had different experiences?

:blink:Oh, cool, I'll join you here ... Hi, I'm kornmuhme/Sabine and my nick refers to an ancient German witch. I love HLV for many reasons. First of all, CAM is one of the most disgusting and frightening villaint in the show - and he only has a relatively small number of apearrances in the episode, so that menas a lot! Moreover, I like the complete storyline: Sherlock pretending to have a girlfriend to sneak into CAM's office (can't stop laughing whenever I watch these scenes), the shooting scene and Sherlock almost dying (gosh, how dramatic and absolutely emotionally filmed!), Christmas at Mummy's and Daddy's ("Are you smoking?" - "It's Mycroft!" :P) and this fantastic scene at Appledore and the moment when Sherlock realizes he's made a fulminant mistake (I think you can really SEE this moment in his face). I think Sherlock faked his death in TRF by the scenario he himself presents to Anderson - just because I don't have any better idea ... I don't think the subtext indicates that John and Sherlock are an off-screen couple. Of course, the show has always toyed with this idea and there are tons of allusions to homosexuality and misunderstandings (just think of Mrs Hudson!), but I've always seen them as jokes and teasing. I'm pretty sure that John is straight and will always be. About Sherlock, I can't say. I don't think he's gay, but also wonder if he's really straight. If people are asexual - and I think he is - they nevertheless tend to a certain sex that can possibly be atrractive to them. And in Sherlock's case I think that's women: Irene is somebody who attracts him (mainly intellectually, but also physically in a certain way), Janine (ok, the relation was a fake, but if Sherlock were really gay why not chosing a man?) and, last but not least, Molly. I think he likes her - not in a romantic way (well, not yet, maybe), but there's a bond between them that makes me hope for more :-). But back to topic: Sherlock and John are very, very close friends and I really like the comparison to the Sex and the City girls. A perfect bromance! I don't think Mary is destined to die soon, because first of all she and John are having a baby and with Mary dead it would be hard go on with John as a single father. And I think Moffat once said (Comic Con?) that Mary won't die. Maybe she will disappear somehow, but most likely not in the first episode of S4. There's some more to tell about her.

I'm signing :-). Ok, so let's say, John is his closest friend and the other few persons are his friends, too. But I really find it an interesting question if Sherlock would have killed Magnussen for one of the others, too. Honestly? I think yes, because it was the (his!) only logical possibility to escape CAM's threats. -
