Oh wow, poor Spock is totally going to get the crap beaten out of him.

I don't know how to process this. Throughout the movie I progressively got more and more attracted to Zachary Quinto, and by now with my time here it's probably no surprise I find Benedict to be quite the looker as well. I don't know how to processes them fighting. I anticipate when I see everything edited together I'll be all #Idon'tknowwhattodomywholebrainiscrying.

Oh this is so exciting! I'm still a bit in shock that my two favourite things: Trek and Benedict, are going to be together!!

14 months to go for this now!

Last I had heard, the villain was still strongly rumored to be Khan -- even IMDb lists him as "Khan (rumored)" -- but then today I ran across this:

Karl Urban May Have Revealed the STAR TREK 2 Villain

My immediate impression was (and is) that Urban was joking. He does a terrific deadpan as McCoy, and I see no reason why he couldn't do the same in real life. This is all over the internet, of course, and a lot of people are thinking it may be an intentional red herring, that someone put Urban up to it.

But unless Simon Pegg was out-and-out lying (or was misquoted), the villain is definitely not Khan.

They've just released the first poster for Star Trek Into Darkness -- and the Treklock crossover fans are gonna have a field day!

Note the aforementioned "flappy coat" -- that is apparently Cumberbatch's villain standing amidst the ruins of a futuristic London!

Here's the item on Sherlockology.

Torchwood fan that I am, it makes me think of Captain Jack and the destruction of The Hub in Cardiff. Sorry!

I have never before seen a potato with such an uncanny resemblance to William Shatner! Must be something about the eyes ....

Now if I may go a bit off topic, here's the first official trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness:

According to Sherlockology,

A longer teaser trailer for the film will be attached to screenings of The Hobbit, and then will be released online on December 17 2012. The 9 minute prologue sequence of the film will be attached exclusively to IMAX Digital 3D screenings of The Hobbit.

Yet another reason (as if I needed more!) for seeing The Hobbit ASAP!!!

Not usually one to overuse the term *Nerdgasm* but I think it is apt in the case of that trailer!

We saw The Hobbit in a regular theater last Friday, so of course we saw the regular Star Trek trailer. All I can say is -- too short!

Sherlockology has posted a review of the nine-minute prologue that's being run before IMAX showings of The Hobbit. (Apparently it's also too short!)

Sherlockology just posted a link to the newest Star Trek television commercial (the one that's running during the Superbowl) on iTunes Movie Trailers. It won't even start loading on my antique computer, or I'd post the actual video, but that link should take you to it.

Nice photo of Cumberbatch on the Sherlockology post, anyhow:

Anyone else notice that the edges of the destroyed buidlings that frame our beloved villan are in the shape of the Federation shield? Or is it that I am just now noticing?

Took me a while to notice that, myself.

By the way, if anyone's wondering why I identified the ruined city as London, note the pointy building with the diagonal striping about halfway between Cumberbatch and the right-hand edge of the frame. You may remember "The Gherkin" from the view outside Sir William Shad's office in "Blind Banker."
