4 Emmys - awesome!

Posted

Just read that Benedict won't be able to make it to the Emmys, because he is filming that night. That is really irritating, sorry to say, I know it's a job like any other job, but I just think it was that huge, that any production team would understand it, and reschedule. I hope, if he wins, that he is filming something.

Has there been any word of who WILL be there representing Sherlock?  I doubt that Martin Freeman will go, since he's still on stage as Richard III till late September.  So -- maybe the usual Hartswood contingent, plus maybe Amanda Abbington?

What they've already awarded is the "creative arts" Emmys (meaning the behind-the-scenes stuff). The in-front-of-the-camera awards will be presented a week from tonight (Monday August 25th) starting at 8 pm Eastern Time on NBC. (The article that Alex linked to has more details.)

Interesting -- according to the full list at the bottom of that article, Fargo won only one Creative Arts Emmy, for casting. Wonder how they'll do next week?

It was cool to see Jimmy Fallon take 2 Emmy's so far. I really like his show a lot.

That's four so far:D

Five now! Woo hoo! I am shocked, frankly. Nothing I like ever wins anything....

The Sherlock people there are the aforementioned Mr. Moffat, Sue Vertue, Beryl Vertue, and Mark Gatiss.  At least that's all I saw when they announced that Moffat had won.

Six! Yay Martin Freeman!!!!!!!!!!

Wow!  I am definitely hyperventilating now!  Was NOT expecting Martin Freeman to win -- so, so well deserved!!

On the down side, Nick Hurran did not win for best director (Colin Bucksey got it for Fargo).

Fargo! Finally, one I called right... :D

Right, for best miniseries (thanks in part to Martin Freeman!).

Alas, Sherlock did not win for best TV movie (that award went to The Normal Heart).

But still -- three out of five tonight, for a total of 7 out of their 12 nominations.  Congratulations, Team Sherlock!!!!

Normal Heart. Alas, I called that one right also. Dang. No way a movie about AIDS was going to lose, though.

That is awesome, I'm so happy for them. Especially Benedict Cumberbatch, he really was amazing in S3.

Martin Freeman was no slouch!  :D

What the heck, the whole team did a great job, and (much to my surprise, considering the politics involved) many of them were recognized for it tonight.

Funny thing is, Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are presumably sound asleep right now, and won't know they won till morning.  Alex checked Amanda Abbington's Twitter account, and after wishing everyone good luck, she had signed off to go to bed.

What a nice surprise for them to wake up to!

Variety is calling them "shocking" wins, apparently I wasn't the only one who expected Sherlock to be shut out. The article's here, and includes a few quotes from Mr. Moffat.

They also call the show "cerebral", which for some reason both amuses and pleases me.

Yes, I was fully expecting another "It's an honor just to be nominated" night like two years ago, and judging by Moffat's face, he didn't expect the wins either.

Thanks for the Variety link, Arcadia.  I found this part particularly interesting:

As for how they plan to top last year’s highly rated season, Moffat declared, “We have a plan to top it, and I do think our plan is devastating. We practically reduced our cast to tears by revealing the plan.” He said he and co-creator Mark Gatiss are probably “more excited than we’ve ever been” about where the show is heading.

Uh-oh!
