Sherlock, of course. And then nothing. Just Sherlock.

... But still, I can't quite associate him with sex. The utmost I am capable of fantasizing about is being a client and have those razor eyes take me apart in ten seconds flat before the verdict is either "boring" or "I'll take the case".

You can write that sentence, and NOT associate him with sex?! I voted for him third, but I'm off to take a cold shower now!

True, dat.

I will say, and this is not a knock against BC in any way, I love Sherlock more than I love BC.  Which is truly hilarious given that a.)  Sherlock is a fictional character and b.)  BC is Sherlock.

I totally get this.  BC is a fine actor and an attractive and seemingly intelligent and thoughtful man.  I really enjoy his work, and I think he would be an interesting person to know.

I have a mad fangirl crush on Sherlock.  No question.  The day fictional characters become real, that man can deduce me all he likes.

I concur fully.  And if I get the opportunity to relearn the French Horn we could do horn/violin duets together when we weren't looking at one of his many science experiments going on in the flat.

Note that the question is not which male characters are the best looking or the sexiest or any other supposedly unbiased description.  I'm looking for biased!  Who makes your knees wobble (in a good way!) or makes you pretend to cough (to disguise a whimper)?  Who would you be most tempted to flirt right back at?  Who would you find it hardest to resist a come-on from?  You can select a first, second, and third choice.

Persons of all genders and sexual orientations are invited to participate, and if guys aren't exactly your thing, you're allowed to use your imagination.  No one will be able to see how you voted, so if you want us to know, feel free to post your choices.

And if I've absent-mindedly omitted any recurring male characters (i.e., ones who appeared in at least two episodes), please let me know.

I just realized that I don't see Tom's name on there as really bit part as he was.  He was in both TEH and TSOT.

My number one is Moriarty, and it will always be Moriarty, which slightly worries me because people have said that your favorite fictional character is a representation of 1.) how you see yourself, 2) how you are as a person, and/or 3) what kind of person you seek in a relationship.

Actually, no, it worries me deeply. But I'm too flustered just thinking of him to care, ooh~!

Fun Fact: Andrew Scott came out before Series 3 of Sherlock did.  :)

That sound like something that come from Tarot-reading.  :D

I don't think that strange at all. I feel the same way, and for what I consider a good reason: Sherlock is a fictional character. He exists in a reality that is separate from ours. He cannot be hurt or annoyed by me. I couldn't invade his privacy if I tried. He was created to be seen and to entertain an audience. So I feel just fine fawning over him to my heart's content and babbling about his every move on a public forum. Benedict Cumberbatch, on the other hand, is a real person. Sure, he's a famous real person, and he has a public persona, and I very much doubt he'd give two cents either way, but I would feel very odd being obsessed with him the way I am with Sherlock. He's a fine actor, a handsome man and an interesting human being for sure, but I feel no need to know more about him than I do about my boss at work - probably less, because my boss I have to get along with, and him I don't even know. How could I be expected to have feelings, let alone love, for someone I don't know?

I don't see an actor as being a character, either. In playing a role, of course one gives a certain part of ones self - has to, I guess - but a professional actor especially should be able to distance himself from the characters he portrays. How else would people live with "being" the Joker, or Charles Augustus Magnussen for that matter?

Now you've got me wondering how Sherlock being my favorite character fits in there. Hmmmm... How I see myself? Not really. Sometimes, I guess. I definitely have "Sherlock moments", but it seems pretty presumptuous to compare myself to a genius and a hero. Nope, I see myself more as a Molly figure, with some of Sherlock's more dysfunctional traits strewn in. How I am as a person? Well, the neurotic part fits, I guess. Like Sherlock, I am high-strung and alert and easily overstimulated. Totally unlike Sherlock, though, I value peace and quiet, I am never ever bored, I avoid danger, take as few risks as possible and have a great love for the mundane and the little things (I like Hobbits for a good reason!). What kind of person I seek in a relationship? I hope not! I have been in love with a similar "type", but I married someone totally different (someone more like John, I guess). Maybe that is the main reason why I don't want Molly to end up with Sherlock and hope she realizes he couldn't ever make her happy...

Gosh, this post got awfully personal all of a sudden! Sorry, folks...

I dunno about you, but this is definitive proof that Mofftiss read up on some nice Sherlock fanfic and just said, "Put it all in one episode."

Number three is John, because I like sassy boys, and because come on, look at him!

So, how you are as a person is like Sherlock and John is the kind of person you want to be in relationship with? :D

Hmm... Well, for starters, I think having a lot of alone time is bliss, same as Sherlock. And I also have weird thoughts, such as "What does human meat taste like?" (Sweet veal, by the way). Plus, I think "It's an experiment" is a legit excuse for blowing up an avocado in a microwave. I guess I'm looking for a weirdo like me to be in a relationship with.

But like John, I like people too (but only select people, you know?). And I have a lot of sass in me (my parents definitely think so). I'd like someone who's loyal and would fight for me no matter what.

So yeah, I guess it does fit, the whole "favorite character echoing you/how you see you/what you want" thing I at least partially true.  B)

With that kind of curiosity, thank heavens I am not your landlady / housekeeper

I'm kind of like Bendy with the weirdo thoughts including thoughts of what would happen if you microwaved an avocado (even though I'd never do it unless I really wanted a new microwave) and have a certain amount of John in me and want someone like a John in my life...(Maybe that's why I love my hubby so much.  We're both a mixture of Sherlock & John.  Fiercely loyal and crazy/weirdly curious to varying degrees.)

And I'm also glad to not be the landlady/housekeeper for anyone like Sherlock.

Absolutely cannot argue with any of that!  :D

I've heard pork -- did the cannibals change their collective opinion? Definitely NOT chicken, anyhow!

Plus, I think "It's an experiment" is a legit excuse for blowing up an avocado in a microwave.

I will back you up on that IF you clean the microwave yourself.

Remind me to collect all your phone numbers because I will prepare a team with hazmat suits to clean up the remnants of your experiments (and charge a hefty price for it) tongueout-skype-smiley.gif

Depending on how the experiments go, there may be nothing left to clean up but a pile of rubble.  After all Sherlock does use a blow torch and a Bunsen burner in his flat.

Add possibility of dealing with radioactive materials then  :D

But of course.  Would we have it any other way when working with Sherlock and some of his experiments? ;)

Of course, he had the Gamma radiation treatment that the Zoom team had (the Tim Allen movie from 2006).

I put more thought into this than was strictly necessary, I think...

Moriarty

Mycroft

Lestrade

Mycroft is my favourite character by far, but Moriarty's tailored suits, utter insanity, and his glide and face when breaking the glass to the Crown Jewels are all delightfully sexy to me.

I know what you means. Bad boys certainly have their own allure :p

Bad boys (and girls) do have allure, but Moriarty is too bad for my taste. He appears to be soulless, and I don't have much use for characters like that. I prefer Irene. She's bad, but, you know, with a heart. A pretty twisted one for sure, but it's there.

I saw a 3 shot picture of Andrew Scott on FB a few weeks back and it was in black and white. As much as I like the insanity known as Moriarty and like Andrew's talent, there was never any really turn on until that set of pics.
