Well, perhaps "bad" isn't quite the right word. But "camp," definitely.  According to Wikipedia, "Where high art necessarily incorporates beauty and value, camp necessarily needs to be lively, audacious and dynamic."

Either way, they nailed it. :D

I have a feeling these movies are not going to be the same without Tony's brashness.

Taking a wild guess here, you're referring to Tony Stark of the Marvel Universe?

(What with all the fandoms represented here, I'm beginning to understand how Mom felt when I talked about Star Trek.    )

Yep! That is he speaking in the gif above.

And yep, I know what you mean.

I have to agree. I think no one was too sure that Iron Man was so successful the way it was. It remains the one that I enjoy better from Marvel, mostly because of Tony's character.  I find Captain America and Black Panther boring, Captain Marvel unlikable, Thor is just  a funny jock (although I like Loki) and Spiderman a little too teenager's love story. I like Hulk better but apparently not enough to watch the solo movie, and he is underused in Avengers. I think what is left now that could make me watch it in cinema is probably Ant Man and Dr.Strange, eventhough I'd be fine skipping the second one, since it wouldn't have the origin story (I like the Sherlock likeness and I like the villain). So what is left? Black Widow doesn't interest me much, I don't see much variation of her character but I suppose it would be good enough since she is human (not superhero) so if they could make layer of complexity interesting enough it could work. I could support Venom, but the contradiction of Eddie Brock's character in the first movie annoyed me quite a bit, and I don't like the alter ego, I'd prefer seeing the story of Eddie Brock.

I thought Cap was boring in the comics, but I actually ended up thinking some of the Cap's movies were some of the best in the MCU. Both Winter Soldier and Civil War were surprisingly moving films. Pretty much agree with the rest of your assessments, except I will follow Stephen Strange wherever he goes.

"Once upon a time, Thor was exiled to Midgard, and spent his time playing the role of the hero. So his brother Loki—smarting over a few minor squabbles—decided to play the role of the villain. But the gods are creatures of magic. Creatures of story. We must be careful which roles we step into."

That is one upcoming Marvel production I'd like to see, is Loki. Don't suppose I'll ever have the chance, tho. 😞

Are you saying that because they'll release it on streaming?  Surely there will be a DVD along eventually?

Maybe, but I have doubts.  It’s made to stream on Disney+, and they’ve been trying very hard to lure subscribers.  If they release all their original series’ on DVD, they won’t get as many subscriptions.  I suspect some things will only be available to stream.

Can you not stream because of the cost, or your internet connection?  If price is an issue, it’s only $7/month at the moment, and you can just subscribe for a month at a time until you finish what you want to watch, and then unsubscribe, and resubscribe again later if something else piques your interest.  Most streaming services are monthly subscriptions that you can cancel online at any time, so you’re not stuck with it like a cable contract.  (Yet, anyway.... Disney is especially greedy, so I could see them going that way eventually.)

I’m cautiously excited about the “Loki” series, lol.  I’m also really looking forward to “Falcon and the Winter Soldier”.  Not quite as into “WandaVision”, but I’ll still give it a shot when it releases.  It was set to release late this year, but with the production stalls, I suppose that will be pushed back.  *Sigh*.

True, so I wouldn't expect to see them on DVD right away -- but eventually the call for streaming will fall off, and offering a DVD or Blu-ray at that point would tap a new market.

I'm not so sure... 'cause I think they'll continue to offer new (and old!) content that will keep people subscribed, and entice new subscribers.  But we'll see, I guess.  I do hope they offer it on DVD at some point!

Sorry, I meant to say that presumably the call for that particular movie on streaming would eventually fall off.  That seems to be the way Nexflix works -- they keep streaming something as their exclusive item for a year or so, and then they offer a DVD, or at least sometimes, presumably if they think there's sufficient interest.

They do... I just feel like Disney is going to keep some things streaming-only.  I don't know why I think that, maybe I am overly-cynical about them, lol.

Well, there is certainly precedent.  There are certain classic movies that I don't believe they've ever released on home video.  They just re-release them to theaters every decade or so, as a special event.  Fantasia was like that for quite a while, but then they re-mastered it and made it available with a newly-recorded soundtrack.  We bought it, but I didn't think the new soundtrack was nearly as good as the original -- less noise, I suppose, but not nearly the heart.  (I see there's now something called Fantasia 2000, but I'm talking about the one made before any of us were born.)

Well, that does sound like a good price. I'm not paying for anything at the moment, tho ... I'm out of work indefinitely, the tax refund has already been spent, and who knows whether this "stimulus check" will actually arrive. (Seems to me people with low income always get left out of such things.) My savings account is already depleted due to a major car repair, so...... scary times ahead. I may have to stop paying for my internet connection if this goes on for very long. Thank goodness warmer weather is coming, or I'd have trouble paying the heating bill. All of this just as my checking account was beginning to look healthy for the first time in months.

So, yeah, because of the cost.

Are you within an easy drive (or short walk) of a library that offers free internet connection?  If so, you might consider canceling your internet service right away, before you spend any more money on it -- unless perhaps if you have a really good deal on it right now, and are concerned that you'd get stuck with far worse when you reconnect....

Too bad your crystal ball isn't working right now, eh?
