Oh, cool!

Say, I've been wondering -- obviously, Moriarty is the victim, but who are the six player characters?

Posted

I assume Sherlock, John, Mrs Hudson, Molly, Mycroft, Lestrade and Irene as these are the only characters that are repeated more than once.

I know there are 7 there. Either there’s no Mrs Hudson or no Irene; keep in mind it was only a guess deduction.

I think the choice is more likely to be between Molly and Irene as Mrs Hudson's kitchen is one of the 'rooms' in the game.

The characters are: Sherlock, John, Mrs Hudson, Irene, Mycroft and Lestrade.

Molly doesn't feature, sadly. :-(

Shoot. I was trying to come up with a way of playing the Sherlock game with a regular Clue set. Some of the character correlations are easy -- Irene is Miss Scarlet, obviously, and Mrs. Hudson is Mrs. White. But the regular game has three male characters and three females, whereas the Sherlock version has four and two, which makes it difficult. What is Lestrade doing in there anyhow? He's supposed to be trying to solve the murder, not committing it! Molly as a character makes more sense to me, and she could be the other female.

Well actually, in the orginal game they're all trying to solve the murder and are all suspects.

Watch the movie with Tim Curry "Clue" very funny, very good! Plus you might understand the game better. *laughs*

Mine still hasn't arrived yet -_- And I'm soooooo excited.

Oh I LOVE this game! We played it over and over at the weekend. :)

The first murder was commited by Irene Adler in her flat with a revolver. Now isn't that classy? :D:P

Which you can use for many things...:whip:

Well, the UK Amazon now has Sherlock Cluedo in stock, at 30% off the regular price -- so anyone who missed the BBC Shop sale now has a second chance.

There are also (at this point) two customer reviews on the Amazon page. Those of you who already have the game can post your own reviews, regardless of whether you bought the game from Amazon or not (you just need to have an account with any Amazon).

In 1944, Anthony E. Pratt, an English solicitor's clerk, filed for a patent of ... a murder/mystery-themed game, originally named "Murder!" .... Waddingtons's executive Norman Watson ... purchased the game and provided its trademark name of "Cluedo" (a play on "clue" and "Ludo"; ludo is Latin for I play). ...[T]he game was ... officially launched ... [in] 1949, ... simultaneously licensed to Parker Brothers in the United States ..., where it was renamed "Clue" along with other minor changes.

Wikipedia's explanation is making more sense to me since I read that "Ludo" is the British name for parcheesi.

I used to love playing Ludo with my Nan, I'm sure she cheated as she always seemed to win!

My family used to play Clue, a lot. We went through at least two sets. Would love to get my hands on the Sherlock version of Cluedo, though my family is scattered and no one plays board games around here much anymore.

I finally got one, but it sits in the box, maybe for an investment? But a bookstore that I frequent is planning a "Sherlock Night" if they can ever pull it together, I'll pull it out then.

It must be strange if Sherlock is a murderer in the Cluedo game!!!:D

Sally Donovan would be pleased!

(And at least it makes more sense than the victim being the murder.  :P )

I have spotted 'Sherlock Cluedo' in my local WH Smiths at around £24.95 - bit too expensive and you need a few people to play!

Ooh I think I'll get this for collector's sake.  I hardly play any physical board games anymore, but my relatives will be coming soon and they're all Sherlock fans, so this game should do the trick.

For those of you who have it - is it worth it, quality-wise and all?

How on earth did that happen?   (To my relatives, Sherlock is "that show that Carol likes.")
