Thank you! Well, at least two of those look suspiciously like they are part of the resolution to the faked death, don't they? In that case, I do like what they imply...

Which two are you referring to?

Oh! Wait, I'd better spoiler-box, even though I'm only theorizing wildly...

Those where Sherlock has the blood on his forehead. One definitely looks as if he were standing outside Bart's, or am I totally wrong? He's also wearing the same clothes he had one when he jumped, isn't he?

So that would seem to mean it really was him on the ground - no mask, no body double, etc. And If that were true, I would be happy.

Oh! I didn't even think of that! I was wondering about the blood, though.  But as far as his clothes go... his wardrobe is so constant that I have stopped noticing it.  He seems to wear the same black suit, coat, and scarf all the time, only changing his shirt (of which there are, what, a white, a black, and a purple one?) I kind of have a little giggly head canon wherein Sherlock hates change so much that whenever he buys clothes, he just buys 12 of everything so he can wear the same thing all the time. I picture his closet with 12 identical black suits, 12 identical white shirts, 12 identical purple shirts, 12 identical black shirts, 12 of the same pairs of shoes, etc.

I'm not making any guesses as to what really happened that day at Bart's. I have a feeling that, no matter what I lean toward, I'll be wrong.

But, now that we are mentioning his clothes (I don't feel like this needs a spoiler box)...

Does he have more than one coat? Because it seems like it's just the one, that he always wears (with the red button holes).  But I swear, half the time I look at it, it looks dark, solid black, and the rest of the time I swear it's grey. Am I just blind?

Maybe that's just due to different lighting. Or they have several versions of the same costume, by which I mean that it's supposed to be one coat, but in reality there are several.

The third photo sure looks like it was taken outside of Bart's, yes, but of course there's no way of knowing whether it's a flashback or a re-visit.

Karie, I agree with you on the wardrobe!  :lol4:

I ran across this double web page (part 1 and part 2), which does contain one slight spoiler (how John & Mary met).

Also, it has this quote from Martin Freeman, similar to other statements I've seen attributed to him lately:

It's been lovely working with Amanda, but it was just a coincidence.  It wasn't a John and Yoko situation getting her on the show....

Elsewhere, I read that Ms. Abbington had previously worked with some members of the production team.  (British film and television is, after all, a fairly small community.)  I can't help thinking, though, that whoever hired her can't have been oblivious to how cool a bit of casting that was!

Posted

Wow, Carol your first guess on what she works as and how they met was really not far off!

Well, if she's his receptionist, at least this Dr Watson does not have to feel bad about "aspiring to her fortune". He can feel like the rich guy here, I guess. Although I strongly expect the character has something up her sleeve and that he will be in for a few surprises...

Neither can I imagine that the casting of the actress had nothing to do with her being Freeman's wife (or long-term girlfriend? I don't know whether they're married - doesn't matter). He's a lot in demand at the moment, and if a project manages to keep him close to his family, one would imagine he was more likely to stick with it. Because, even if, as he's supposed to have said in an interview recently, "it's not called John yet", they could really forget about the show without this particular Dr Watson.

Of course that doesn't mean I doubt they chose her for her acting skills! I've never seen her in anything to date, but the casting on "Sherlock" has been so extremely good in the past, that I am sure she fits her role just as perfectly as all the rest do. I certainly like the photos.

Not sure this is a spoiler or not but just for practice I'll pretend that it is so:

According to an interview that she did, She, Martin, and Mark Gatiss were at a kitchen table and Mr. Gatiss was talking to John about the 3rd Season and John Watson becoming engaged. She asked who they might be considering to play Mary Morstan and Mr. Gatiss looked at her and said. "You."

There are some behind the scenes photos here as they were getting ready to film

the wedding scenes.

Some of them I've seen before, so all of these may be old news to you guys.  But there were a few I was unfamiliar with, so I figured I'd share just in case.

I put the link behind the cut when I realized the http contained potential spoilers in the address.

Here's another one that I've seen before, but I don't remember seeing it talked about on this forum:

http://thegeekiary.com/2013/04/07/sherlock-season-3-episode-1-filming-nearly-complete/

I'm assuming this takes place immediately following the

punch to the face that John gives Sherlock, as we're all expecting to happen.  If so, it sort of looks like John storms off afterward. Maybe he storms out of that restaurant and is abducted before Mary and Sherlock make it outside?

I'm giddy over the punch, because I think Sherlock deserves it, but I also hope for a hug in this episode, too.

From a few fan-recorded filming videos, it appears that John does indeed stomp off, but then he hails a cab somewhere off-screen and Mary joins him.  This episode's abduction apparently occurs on Baker Street.

(I'm beginning to wonder if they could do one episode without John being kidnapped, tricked, or drugged.  Have seen no evidence of that so far.)

Yes, why can't he outsource that kind of work to the clients? Isn't that what those people are usually for?

Seriously, though, if all this is just based on somebody's unofficial recording of filming, it doesn't necessarily mean we'll actually see it in a finished episode, does it? Also, the context might be totally different than we imagine at the moment.

Well, from what I've seen, it looks like:

John is kidnapped well after his initial meeting with Sherlock. Some guys in black drug him right outside of Baker Street and then he's placed underneath a bonfire. Now, after watching the trailer, I'm wondering if Sherlock is given a choice between saving his friend and preventing a terrorist attack from happening. That, at least, would be different from what we've seen before- Sherlock is given a choice to make.

Very interesting!

OK, if you hover your mouse over Sherlock in that "get to know London" bit, a lock button pops up. Click it, and it will prompt you to type in a six digit code to unlock the locked content in the interactive trailer.  Supposedly the code is hidden somewhere in the trailer. I'm still looking for it.

If anyone figures it out before me, please post it!

That's just been covered on another thread, Karie -- namely here.

Yeah, I got confused and posted in the wrong thread! Feel free to delete my posts above.  That's what happens when you have too many windows open at once.

No problem -- we're all a little confused these days.  ;)  Besides, if anyone else is looking for that info, there it is!
