  1. The other day I saw a gif of Moriarty in the court room and gasp... I mistook it for a scene in The Great Game! What happened? I used to know every single scene and quote! To think it came from The Reichenbach Fall, the episode that broke me and sent me here in pieces (I thought he was really dead). Is it because I have moved on? No, it's not possible! Carol is still having problem with Photobucket. It must only have been half a year since the series, right? Anyway, I miss you all and I miss the forum where there are more of us bantering. I don't miss the weird time when the series was airing though, it was too scary for me with all the strangers and everyone was posting but no one was reading. Hope you are all well!

  2. It's a fascinating language actually, and I like it. Preposition drives me nuts as well. A kind hearted beta reader sketched for me the difference between perch on and perch in a tree. I used perch on, before my character is sitting of a branch, like a bird perching on, and it's 'right' when I checked around. Perch in is more like J.P an owl inside a hollow of a tree imho. However, according to her, perch on indicates my character is situated on the very top of the tree, while perch in is more suitable for my intention. She gave me a very cute sketch to explain that. It makes a lot of sense!

  3. Yeah, I migrated to a star trek forum which celebrated it's 25 year anniversary and people still post stuff on the TOS subforum. Wild man

  4. Yes, the middle one, and yes, Locky is named after Sherlock. I believe I joined in April 2015. Locky was born in May 2015, my friend asked me to adopt him in June/July 2015 (and to name him). At that time, I only had Sherlock in mind! Yes, the middle one.

  5. My current excuse is that I need to rewrite one chapter. Well, that's not JUST an excuse, I really do need to rewrite it, because it was set in a real place (it's a mystery novel) and that place is now quite different. But I found an even better way to handle the chapter, so just need to write it that way. As far as telling y'all about it, I've been in a quandary -- whether to publish it under my real name (in which case I couldn't very well "out" myself here) or under a pseudonym. Lately I've been toying with using the pseudonym "Carol Dabler" or "Carol T. Dabler" (with just the one 'b" it's an actual surname). I guess if people who know me by my real name asked why I chose that pseudonym, I could just say it's a mystery. If you don't mind telling, what did she think of it?

  6. Well, at least Mark Gatiss is in it! Here's the IMDb page (with links to trailers).

  7. That's kinda sad, but yeah, what can you do about it? Well, I suppose you could pay them the silly $5 once, copy that photo to your computer/phone/wherever, and then immediately cancel your account. Though to be really safe, you'd also need to cancel your charge card, or change the account number. (And by the way, nobody looks like their wedding photo anymore. )

  8. Even native speakers can sometimes have that sort of problem. Is it EI or IE? Is it ANCE or ENCE? Sometimes it just looks right one way or the other, but other times (if I'm not online) I need to check a dictionary. Then there's this sort of thing: Those spellings look better to me as well. Shouldn't "canceled" be pronounced "can-sealed"? I usually choose to write such words in the British style, simply because I think they look more like they sound. I've even entered those spellings into my spellchecker (as alternatives), just so I don't need to argue with it. All in all, though, I'm sure glad to have grown up using English! Spanish is my "second language" (though not nearly as good as your English), and its spelling is *so* easy by comparison. You have my sympathy!

  9. Yeah, me too. (And years earlier, same with Star Trek.) At first, I thought you meant Moriarty, and was trying to figure out a gentle way to tell you.... TRF sent a lot of us here. In fact, the forum didn't even exist before that, so I guess it had that effect on Tim and Banshee first. Well, let's just say we're not currently holding our breath till the next episode airs. (Could be hazardous to our health.) I'm doing quite well, thank you! And how about you? Since your last visit (was it really 8 months ago?), we've also heard from Caya (AKA Martina), Fantasy Lover, Fio (Fiona, a new member), J.P., Fox (new member), besleybean, MainlyFreeMan (new member), Lee walsom (new member), Wenjie Liu (new member), SherlockianExpert303 (new member), CunninghamHeritage (new member), Arcadia, Brontodon, tp1983 (new member), moschino_high (new member), chongjasmine, YoungSherlockHolmesFan (formerly CSIBakerStreet), Alastair (new member), and Agne1940 (new member). As you can see, we've had a lot of new members. I suspect that most of them wandered off when they didn't see a lot of new activity. But darn it, if they'd all just stick around and keep posting now and then, we'd *have* a lot of new activity! A lot of them may have been bitten by other forums that scold you for posting in old threads, so they're afraid to do that here (and having been likewise bitten myself on other forums, can't say as I blame them). I do sometimes mention our tolerant attitude to newbies, but apparently old habits die hard. Or perhaps they're here mostly to be entertained, rather than to participate. *sigh*

  10. I'm glad you still have internet access somewhere -- always glad to see you here! How true! Though I think I've only ever actually slammed the receiver once -- when an obscene call woke me out of a sound sleep. I'm not sure it was intended as an obscene call, though. Upon further reflection I suspected that he may have simply misdialed his girlfriend's number. Wonder how long took him to realize he'd said that to a total stranger at 3 am?

  11. IT DOES! You guys are not going to be spared! Above is my dog Locky, he is ten now. This is him and his bestie. No kidding, the brown dog is his best friend and they are always happy to see each other. This is him again breaking into the bathroom and supervising my morning business.
