Was Sherlock Holmes A Chess Player ?
jesskayding replied to Truthhunter's topic in General Sherlock Holmes Discussion
Oh. Well a husband then. -
When Sherlock says this, John nor Mary even bats an eye. If a man said this here in the US, he would most likely regret it, unless he was in Morman or Amish country. Is this how the English role?

I probably tell my age often. I'm constantly making references to the early 90's. -
Hmmm. I've heard of Colombo, but I don't think I've seen a show. How long has it been around?

T O B Y... Are these initials on a Memory stick (we call them USB's here) somewhere? You are really insightful. You seem to think about scenarios from many angles. -

Yeah. I kind of was feeling myself when I put the question that way too. I can be witty/slightly funny sometimes. Now about Mycroft my brain didn't even go to the thought of a softer side of him, but I do wonder if that assistant of his is his secret goldfish & if they often "dine" together.

I didn't know that he was really playing violin. I thought he was mimicking it. Hmmm. He became really good. Where did you find this little fact? Do you have a link? Yeah they do a lot of different things from the books it seems. I've been trying to read them. I see references made, but they seem to take those references sometimes in a totally different direction. Like The Woman not being American, but somehow linking some of her behaviors/activities to America. & Rache meaning Rachel ( in the book one of the detectives were corrected), instead of the German for revenge. It will be interesting to see how they play out/deal with the character of Mary Watson moving forward.

Ok so today, I watched TEH again. After Moriarty kills himself.. Sherlocks refers back to the pool scene in TGG, & says "obvious, his death wish." It got me to thinking about when the cabby says you have a fan... Referring to Moriarty. It made me feel that in a since Moriarty sort of represents the Super fan. The ones who truly obsess. The stalker fans... They want to know every single detail about a person. They want to experience every bit of that persons life... Moriarty was the biggest fan of them all! To the point where he wanted to even share the same time & place of Sherlock's death. What do you all say to this?

Was Sherlock Holmes A Chess Player ?
jesskayding replied to Truthhunter's topic in General Sherlock Holmes Discussion
Ok upon further inspection. I paused @ Mycroft saying " oh bugger ". I see @ that point where it could have been an optical illusion for that scene. Because the chessboard is sitting on the coffee table & it now obvious they are playing operation. Which does give it more character. Because @ no point does Mycroft or Sherlock get out of their seats to switch games. Now I'm inclined to believe Sherlock can play chess really well even if he usually doesn't based off his interaction with the Caby in SIP. Also I further deduce that the chessboard is not usually out on Sherlock's coffee table. So he had to be playing it with someone. Not John because well John isn't talking with him yet. Certainly not Mrs. Hudson, I think Sherlock wouldn't be able to last 1/2 a second playing a game like that with her. So because the universe is rarely so lazy, not a coincidence. Balance of probability... He was playing it earlier with Mycroft. -
Was Sherlock Holmes A Chess Player ?

Ok. Because of this question I decided to watch TEH again. Because y'all were making feel like I was imagining things. I paused it at Sherlock saying " Boring. Your move." It is not an illusion, nor is it the operation game. It is clearly & absolutely a chessboard. Mycroft is playing with the black pieces & Sherlock with the white pieces. I notice that Mark should probably remove his wedding ring. Per Mycroft is single. The board is a dark tan/light brown color. -
what keeps you hooked/addicted

Yeah.. You know the wait in between does build excitement. I would love it if it premiered on the big screen in a theater. That would be fabulous. -
I love this! How cool is that. That's incredible acting when you can't use words. It is sad the film is lost. I would love to see that.

Yeah I agree. The whole thing could be amazingly wonderful, or wonderfully bad. Depends on the write -iiiiing ( I'm singing writing in a high pitch tone). Also lighting, effects, editing & cinematography.
