I've read the Inspector Gamache series by Louise Penny. They are all good. I'm about two books behind, I think, so I better call the library and reserve them for pick up.

I'm with Caya on this. No one is any more mean or petty than Trump. I'm not worried about Biden's health. He's not much older than Trump and has shown he's more physically fit. Any issues with his mental ability is mostly spread by Trump and his supporters. He misspeaks but so does everyone occasionally. He has dealt with a stutter his entire life and sometimes searches for words whereas Trump runs off at the mouth voicing whatever ridiculous thing pops into his mind. From what I've seen Trump isn't well liked or respected by our allies, many of which he's alienated. Biden has apparently good relationships with other countries and was in charge of several important deals as vice-president. I have confidence that he will handle the pandemic much better than the present administration. Sorry for the rant but I fell Trump has been a disaster for our country and cannot fathom, and don't want to, what will happen if he is re-elected.

I was thinking of John Hillerman also. I remember being surprised to learn that the proper British major domo on "Magnum, P. I." was actually a Texan!

As an American, I'm embarrassed every time he opens his mouth. And he just seems to be getting worse, saying some of the most bizarre things more and more frequently. I'm hoping that we come to our senses and vote him out in November.

Irene may challenge Sherlock but he could never really trust her. She did nothing but manipulate, lie to and belittle him until he unlocked her phone and she lost her leverage. Then she turned on the tears and played the poor me card. And don't forget Molly has struck Sherlock, repeatedly, and called him on his crap more than once. She was also the one he conjured up when he was shot to help him save his life. But I have to agree that it will never happen, with either one.

I love musicals but West Side Story has never been one of my favorites, but it's better than either Camelot or South Pacific which are two of my sister's favorites. -
I'm still on!y getting a few calls a week, maybe two or three. The last one a few days ago was about Medicare supplement plans. I made the mistake of answering that one because I was expecting a return call from someone. I don't usually pick up on numbers I don't recognize feeling that if it's legitimate or important they'll leave a message. Of course when I told the caller that I wasn't interested she didn't respond at all, she just hung up without even saying thank you for your time. At least she didn't continue her spiel which I find equally annoying, like if they just keep pushing I'll change my mind.

More p!aces around here are opening. My niece has a zoo membership and is taking her two daughters there on Tuesday. She had to make a reservation, pick a day and time, only outdoor exhibits are open, no carousel or train rides. Her three year old asked if I was going but for now it's only open to members.

Looking forward to this. I've seen him as the creature. My niece and I saw it in the theater a few years back.

I've often wondered what would happen if no one showed up, but I realized that would leave only his supporting media to be there and that might be even worse!

I never wanted to be an only child. My father was one of eight, my mother was an only child. They compromised and had five kids lol. I did have a version of the middle child syndrome though. I was not the middle child but I was the middle girl and next to last. So my oldest brother was special for being first, my second brother was outgoing so everyone liked him, my older sister was the first girl and my younger sister was the baby. So I had my moments of self pity and not feeling special. Most of this was in my head I realize now but sometimes it was tough. Thank goodness I had an aunt and two uncle's who I stayed with in the summer and gave me extra attention. Not that my parents weren't great, but with five kids, my dad having a job where he was on the road two hours a day traveling to and from, plus living on a dairy farm there wasn't a lit of time for extras. But I was close to both my parents and lost them when they were relatively young. Looking back I had a terrific childhood and am still close to my siblings. I often wondered how only children handled not having that comradery growing up.

I saw a reporter interviewed and he said it's their job to cover the briefings. No matter how outlandish Trump behaves he is the president and the briefings are important for the info from the experts about the virus. Even when Trump lashes out as he did with this person recently they have to "keep a straight face" and be professional.

One of my nephews recently started working from home, before the quarantine, and the first few weeks were rough for him. The business was slower than usual and he found himself at loose ends, not having enough work to keep busy. It's taken him a while to find a routine that works for him. But he loves the freedom and flexibility. He is also saving money on gas. His main office is 30-40 miles from his home so he spent significant time in the road. Now he only goes into the office occasionally.

I've always loved "The Music Man" . Very catchy tunes and Robert Preston does an amazing job. But then, I'm a big fan of most musicals.

FYI: I've never used PhotoBucket and I'm not seeing any watermark either.

Our library has told people they can still access their internet from the parking lot. Limited to closest row to the building but I have seen a few people parked there. -
My cat knows the minute any greenery comes into the house, even if I try to hide it. I have two plants that were given to me when my sister passed away a few years ago but I have to keep them very high. So far he hasn't bothered them and since certain plants are poisonous for felines, and I don't have any more really inaccessible areas for them, I don't have any more (plants, not cats). That's probably a good thing because I really don't have a green thumb.

My cat eats mainly dry food but he's on medication so twice a day he gets a small serving of wet food with his medicine in it. He definitely prefers the wet but is a bit picky about what flavors he likes. I opened a can of Fancy Feast beef and he refuses to eat it. He looks at it then me as if to say "are you kidding me?" His favorite , right now, is fish and shrimp flavor. He may be a little spoiled lol

What worries me now is that Trump is talking about lifting the restrictions "soon", saying the cure shouldn't be worse than the disease. He seems to be focusing more on the economy, which is important, than he is on the nations health. He's also in favor of payouts or "loans" to big businesses. I realize it's important to keep these businesses solvent, but feel not enough attention is being paid to small businesses as well. That's one of the contentious issues in the bill being debated in Congress right now. There are no restrictions on how the corporations have to use the money. This means the money can be used for executive raises or stock by-backs instead of being put to use in the business itself. So now we have the finger pointing again with Republicans saying Democrats aren't in favor of the payments to the public when that isnt the issue at all. I just hope this is over soon and we don't rush into opening back up, just because some big businesses are pressuring the government. That could put us in an even worse situation.

I feel Trump has really mishandled this crisis from the start. He only closed off travel from China, no other countries (like he's never heard of other international travel), he dismantled our pandemic team in 2018 (you know the ones who are supposed to watch for these things), he totally dismissed and ignored the severity of the virus, saying it would go away with warm weather and would disappear one day "like a miracle". He has repeatedly contradicted the experts by saying we have the virus completely under control and will have a vaccine in a few months. Then the poor doctors have to take time to set the record straight. Sorry for the rant but it bugs me that this man can continually lie and/or take credit for things he has not done, place blame on others and refuse to accept responsibility for anything. If the Democrats handle this properly there is a wealth of evidence proving why Trump should not be elected and I don't think a relatively small payout is going to matter in the long run.

My brother-in-law owns a small dry cleaning business in our small town and business is already slowing down. I usually work on Tuesdays but I got everything pressed yesterday and nothing else came in so I'm home today. We launder a lot of shirts for bankers, lawyers and school administrators but if all of these institutions are closed or cut back (which schools and the courts already have been) I worry about the stores future. I know we are in difficult times and realize the health of our citizens is important I just wish there was more talk of helping the small businesses who will really suffer instead of already hearing about the airlines or other big businesses and what assistance they need.

I don't have any artist's eye for details but I noticed the faces on the black eyed Susan's. Maybe it's the tense times we live in but that for some reason that jumped out at me. Not sure "blackface" would be used now. And I agree the animation has a beautiful flow to it.

Shoot the Wall (A.K.A. The Rant Thread)

Most items are not made to last which is absolutely criminal considering the price of appliances. When I was shopping for my fridge I was shocked at the prices! I started housekeeping 25 years ago with my mother's appliances which she had owned for several years. Except for the dryer this year and a refrigerator a few years ago, the stove and washer are still working, although the stove is showing its age. My appliance plan covers everything regardless of age and it's been a life saver. I've had my furnace/ac unit replaced a few times as well as my hot water heater and some plumbing issues addressed. I don't know how long the new items will last but I'm sure it won't be as long as the ones they replaced.
