Shoot the Wall (A.K.A. The Rant Thread)

I feel for you. I had to get a new dryer this summer, but it wasn't as painful as it could have been. I belong to a home warranty company, American Home Shield, and for a monthly fee they repair or replace appliances. The dryer was not fixable so I got to pick out a new one. They do charge a service fee for the initial visit but I owed nothing after that. I've had this subscription for years and have had several items replaced and/or repaired. It's no fun when something breaks down. -
My 2 year old niece is fascinated with "The Little Mermaid " so I've had "Under the Sea" in my head for the last two weeks.

Introverts, how is your day?

My brother-in-law owns a small dry cleaning business and a local woman handles alterations and repairs for him. She charged me $7 to hem a pair of pants. So maybe you could check with the cleaners and or laundries in you area. I do live in a small town so it may be more in a larger urban area. -
That's the one! Thanks, Caya. (But now I'll be singing it all day lol)

This one goes "If there's something that you want, what's the magic word?" Then the child pauses and says "Hmm", (my niece has that part down really well lol); then the child sings "Please, please, please, When you get something you want, what's the magic word? Hmm, Thank you, thank you, thank you." They also use sign language for please and thank you. I'm no good at posting links but I found it on YouTube by just putting in "Please and Thank You" song.

It's a catchy enough tune but very repetitive; several verses of the same theme--what's the magic word? Saying please when you want something and saying thank you when you get it, saying please when you need help and then saying thank you and etc, etc. But I did enjoy spending time with my niece.

I took my two-year-old niece to a Flowerbuds meeting, an offshoot of 4-H, for pre-schoolers and now I've been humming the "Please and Thank You" song for three days!

The Dress (color perception)

I see white and gold/brown. -
Sherlock and Molly fan here. I love Reichenbach because it was the first episode I saw, (during a marathon of the first two seasons). The rooftop confrontation just grabbed me and I was hooked by the mesmerizing character of Sherlock and his line about not being one of the angels. I also love the interaction between Sherlock and Molly and was surprised by his attitude toward her in other episodes. In Reichenbach he treats her as a trusted friend so I was confused at his dismissive treatment of her most of the time.

We adopted a stray that turned out to be pregnant and when her time came she acted the same way, wanting me or my mother to stay with her and following us if we left. She had two healthy kittens. Her behavior surprised me because I was raised on a farm with lots of barn cats who would just appear with their kittens. My mother had a house cat when I was young who had her kittens in my brothers sock drawer lol,

Both my brother and my sister had parties for their children when they graduated high school; my oldest niece graduated in 1997 and my youngest in 2009. So during that time span grad parties where the custom, and my sister just went to a grad party for a friend's son. Our parties were cookouts/picnic outdoor parties. Many years ago when I graduated I got several gifts from family and friends but no party.

Thanks, Artemis. I did see my niece last night. Her grandparents (my sister and brother-in-law) where keeping her and her five month old sister so I went to their house and spent a few hours with them both and you're right, it was better having the one on one time. I don't mean to sound like I'm excluded a lot. I get along well with my family. It's just that I'm single with no children so sometimes I get a bit down when everyone else is enjoying family activities. I know I can't be included with all their family time, and I really don't expect to be, but like I said sometimes I get a bit lonely and wish I had more people just to hang out with., since I don't have any really close friends.

My great niece turned two yesterday but I wasn't invited to her party. Her parents had a big cookout for her last year but wanted to keep it smaller this year--just immediate family and some of her little friends (and their parents). But I'm pretty sure her uncle's girlfriend was there so I'm feeling a bit left out and sorry for myself. She's a sweet thing and I've kept her quite a bit . I have her a gift , just have to figure out when I can give it to her.

This weekend my brother in law caught an albino raccoon at his feed store. He contacted our local game warden who said he had only heard of one other albino in the state and had never actually seen one. My brother in law released it at the state park here. -
I feel for you. I have a great neighbor who mows for me. Take care out in the heat.

We're expecting 90F today with high humidity. It's going to be miserable here for the next several days, low to mid 90's. Thank goodness for air conditioning!

No actual blooms on the lilacs yet, but they have leaves and a few small buds. We've had several warm, mild days here in between the snow. It's spring you know lol -

I'm expecting snow today too, around 3 to 5 inches. But as stated above it's spring and the ground is warm so who knows how much will actually stick, probably not much since it was in the fifties here yesterday. But I'm afraid my lilacs won't survive another cold spell. -
I saw Frankenstein with BC as the creature at the movie theater and would love to see Hamlet, which was shown around the same time but had a much longer running time, four hours I believe.

I found a wasp in my house yesterday, on one of the coldest days of the year with several inches of snow outside! Have no idea where he came from but he was on the floor moving very sluggishly (is that a word). I'm terrified of wasps but I took care of him very quickly, of course he didn't put up much of a fight lol

Does anyone know if BC will be at the Emmys tomorrow?

There are supports you can buy to help this. I bought something from a novelty catalog, Carol Wright I believe. It slips over your foot and a Velcro attachment fastens around your calf to keep your foot flexed while you sleep. I used this several years ago and haven't had any problems since. You could also google for treatments, but this one worked for me.
