  1. My coach also recommended me some earplugs while using the train or something, when everything becomes too much and stuff. I have cheap in-ear phones and they are ok, and if I don't want music or audiobook, I can use those silicon earplugs which swimmers use. They are really good, because they take the shape of the ears when warmed, so they won't fall out. Usually I have too small ears for regular earplugs which are rather for people on construction sites or so....
  2. I have it too, since friday - and new reading glasses, yay! (I blame not seeing before correctly when reading long texts, now I have no excuse anymore :D ) Unfortunately no time to read over the weekend...but I started the first lines today while my computer made updates.
  3. Haha, the winecork is a fun idea, definitely. I have now received my Dr.Strange Funko, and it has an ENORMOUS bobbling head....it's like the head with part of the cape is HUGE - I mean the heads are usually bigger, but this one is extra-Large. Have to make a pic of it soon - I finally got a laptop back on my own, yay! A lovely friend gave me her old one, and it still works so far better than my old one. :D
  4. I was yesterday in the theatre, and it was really good! About the gay guy - we see in the first minutes an asian gay couple with a kid, which I assumed to be Sulu with his boyfriend/husband and kid. I am sorry I usually don't follow up so fast, and I am not enough of a trekkie to really decide about who is gay or not  - they really made it a quick scene (and unfortunately, in theatres there is no possibility to rewind :lol2: ), so I was like 'ok was it that asian guy from the ship now? Well if so, finally...because I think there's loads fanfiction about gay Star Trek Couples, even german comedians made a comedy about very gay Star Trek - impersonators already' :D . But as you discuss him above to be gay, I would say it has been him. Which is, after seeing 'Independence day 2', another step forward towards the development to include gay people and couples in the blockbuster world, which is excellent! (In Independence day I already knew there was supposed to be a gay couple since I read a review in a gay mag before, but I had to wait about an hour or so until I realized who was meant by that as it's very very subtle and only 'guessable' in a significant scene - I try not to spoiler, that's why my 'careful' choice of words. ;) ...I am just trying to say that I think it's great that blockbuster films develop in a cool direction, finally, not only series, where it's already established that there's gay characters in them. Furthermore I was happy that Star Trek also developed more powerful women, like Jaylah (laughed a lot about her dialogues with Scotty  ), and I think Lt. Uhura also has stepped a bit forward into the light, funny also her relationship with Spock. Big action and entertainment factor with all the starship action, so there's stuff for everyone in it, I think that's what makes generally a good film, if Trekkie or not. I just regret I haven't seen 'Into darkness' in the theatre, must have been awesome.

  7. Kill Bill (The Bride)
  8. Yesterday we had a thunderstorm here with buckets full of rain and hail (which afterwards looked on the eath like thousand little shiny diamonds!). I really enjoyed that, and an old song came to mind: 'Only happy when it rains' by Garbage :D After finally finishing renovating my kitchen, I started a Buffy-Marathon. I so missed that, should do that more often.
  9. The hair! I just cannot get used to this hsirstyle on him. He doesn't look like John at all. Me neither. Just get him a haircut, pleeeaaaase!
  10. SO cuute! Helga and Gandalf like my shoes too, but they rather dig them somewhere else and underneath them with their paws, I wish I had a video or picture of that. Or they take them and throw them around. Mostly they don't have acces to my shoes though, only my in-house shoes sometimes, which is more hygienic for them anyway. When I am back at my mums computer again (still without no own here...strangely it's not too bad - more time for the pets ;)), I have to upload a pic of Hagrid (guinea pig), I recently made a funny cute one of him.
  11. Yay! Now I really can't wait to see it! In the trailer there was only cats, dogs, birds and a hamster I think...
  12. Official announcement I saw from Sherlock people was Mark, Steven, Sue & Amanda. No Benedict at their panel unless he's a surprise. There's still room at German Comic Con in Berlin :D .... (my costume is already in the works. Not Sherlock-related though ) http://www.germancomiccon.com/de/berlin/gaeste/
  13. I have just seen the trailer on the cinestar-site and thought that it will be one of the films I want to see next. It comes to cinemas on July 28th, and it's only called 'Pets' over here.
  14. When you stand in the discounter in front of a shelf with kids DVDs and there's a couple in special offer, and you buy one of them because you might have heard that BC is speaking a character, even if not mentioned on the DVD, and you don't remember exactly if it was that film, but hey - animated films with penguins are cute anyway.... (I put it right away in the player to check it, and from the beginning I strained my ears until the wolf (fox?) came in the picture, haha....you really can't miss that voice! He's only mentioned in the end credits, no intro with names and all that.)

  16. I agree. I would love to see pictures. And I am glad I am not the only person in the world who has no sofa ...but there's still a bit of space in my bed  - and I love pillows. I have a couple of rabbit pillows (the non-furry ones ;) ), but no Sherlock pillow (yet).
  17. In Germany, you need to have an insurance for the dog. Not a health insurance but a personal liability insurance. Health insurances are optional, but there's already a couple of companies who offer it for animals especially. Btw, do you need to pay dog taxes in America? We need to pay dog taxes every year if we decide to have a dog. And it depends on the part of Germany where you live and what kind of dog you have how much you have to pay. One reason to think twice to have a dog, because you generally pay for just having the dog :( ... All other pets cost no taxes or anything, but dogs. Also there is 'lists' of dog races that need special certificates to give the dogs to their owner as some races are labeled as 'dangerous'. Which is totally insane because it's just the person's responsibility how they bring up and educate the dog, how the dog ends up being in personality and if they bite people or not. This weird law is like 'all pitbulls bite the kids on the streets' and crap like that, and keep loads of the dogs in the shelters who have this label - first of all because they have this label (and the majority is just scared of those beautiful animals - really if I had a big house and garden and all that I would adopt some Staffordshire and pit bulls, I think they are somehow cute. Most people say they are ugly. :( ) and people would not have them because of that, also there's not much room for such dogs in the big city, so people rather adopt something the size maybe like a poodle. The others stay in the shelters for ages. I saw on sunday dogs that have been there for over 6 years or so - but glad that Germany has a strict no kill-policy at least, so they would have a chance someday if the right person finally comes along. @Caya, I know there is a network for old dogs and old people, so older people need not to be without a dog for the rest of their lives... http://www.omihunde-netzwerk.de/ Those little texts you posted bring tears to my eyes, some I knew already, but they always make me emotional.
  18. Yesterday I watched 'Adams Apples', a danish film with Mads Mikkelsen - really a film to recommend, it's funny and brilliant! 10/10

  20. Thanks, VBS. Yes, I understand what you feel about the dog. I could not imagine being so long without my rabbits...and the piggies. And - I did not adopt a new pig yesterday :D . Actually they didn't even have one if I saw it right. I only saw tons of little rabbits (with babies, too), and chinchillas, and gerbils and rats...no piggies, which is good that not so many have to spend their time in a pet shelter, just felt sorry for all the rabbits. Hopefully they find a new home soon. I bought a hay tunnel for one of the current 'inmates', so I gave a little to make them happy and something to play with. And there are sooooo many cats....unfortunately, the visit together with my dad didn't bring the desired effect, just some depressing truths and thoughts again. Well, can't do more than just invite and suggest, so... that's parents for you (I know there's a reason why I call him Darth Daddy :P ). And go on be a jedi on my own - for the love of animals. I know I am not alone here.
  21. Here's a new video from my favourite guinea pig channel: adventures of guinea pigs at home :D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YawpZ7jTsnE just watch it and relax, enjoy the cuties. The little ones remind me of Chewbacca and Hagrid, they run around a lot, too...
  22. Long Ears ! :D
  23. Thank you all for your condolences. Freddy and Bellana are alone and a bit sad still. As for me - well, it's been not the first and not the last pet I had to let go, and I try to be not too sad about everything. I know it was the right decision, that's what matters most: that I decided for the pet and not for myself. It makes me feel ok to know that she does not hurt anymore, even if I miss her now. Tomorrow I will visit our pet shelter, they have an 'open door day' (they have it every year), this year I am going with my dad (I thought it's good to show him that there are so many cats looking for a home, so when he next time wants a new cat he thinks about adopting one instead buying it from people who breed and sell them for profit...), I have to tell him to keep me from adopting a new guinea pig cos I still have 14 to take care of ....plus the bunnies, and the one gerbil left. I would love to give a new mate to the mourning two pigs, but I hope they will soon be a bit happier again as a couple, or I find another solution to make the group more again, like take one from the other groups if they like each other. The pigs don't live all together because not many of the male pigs get along, so they have each a few ladies - apart from those guys who get along, so basically it's 14 pigs split into currently 5 groups. Don't forget the legendary horrifying tales of the Brothers Grimm....no wonder they make horror films out of the stories these days!
