Hello Herlock, No: you haven't bored me to death at all!! And in fact: thank you so much for this! I find it very interesting! I have a very vague recollection of reading one of the stories, a long time ago: in which Sherlock himself narrates the story, because it was before he met the good Doctor: but I couldn't remember which story that was! So thanks so much for this! I really do appreciate it; and it's very good of you to write this! And by the way: I must say that that "The Great Game" game sounds very "interesting"!! Yes, I must admit that it might be a bit too much for my old mental constitution to cope with!! Anyway, thanks so much once again, Herlock (love you name, by the way!); as it's always good to talk with you. Take care. Kindest Regards, always, Douglas

A STUDY IN SCARLET is an excellent story; I've just started reading all of the 60 Sherlock Holmes stories again (this will be my third time through them all), in chronological order; starting, of course, with this one.

Hilarious stuff!
-
Thanks, Carol; I'll have to check that one out.
-
And I must check Douglas Wilmer out.
-
Thanks, Herlock! Yes, sometimes I can't decide who was actually a better Holmes: Rathbone or Brett! It's a very close call; I reckon! They were both brilliant!
-
Good on you, Carol: that's funny!!

Well, I'm not a keen gardener, but my wife is: she's the real gardener: I'm just the gardener's assistant! -
Introverts, how is your day?
Douglas replied to Van Buren Supernova's topic in Miscellaneous Musings
Hi Van Buren Supernova, I really do understand how you feel, and I'm so sorry that you're in this situation: especially in your place of work! I hope that things improve for you very soon. Take care. Kindest Regards, always, Douglas -
Hi Herlock! Yes, those other actors that you listed were very good, weren't they! I didn't know that Jeremy Brett and Robert Stephens were best friends! That's interesting! So thanks so much for that info. Yes, and even though I liked Basil Rathbone as Holmes, I thought that Jeremy was just brilliant! Take care. Kindest Regards, always, Douglas Australia

Don't you just love pets!! Our little dog has been recently diagnosed with Diabetes! He's just over 14 years old, but we've got a good Vet. who's got us giving our dog shots of Insulin, and that seems to be working at this stage; We'll be heartbroken when he finally goes! -
And not to mention, of course: that not only was Jeremy Brett, in my opinion, the best Sherlock Holmes; but he was probably one of the best actors to ever portray Sherlock Holmes! In fact, he was one of the best actors: period!
-
Well I've read some of it, and it certainly is a bit of an eye-opener!
-
Well I feel that Jeremy Brett was the best Sherlock Holmes!
-
Yes, very good point, Carol; point taken, in fact.

Oh, sorry, Carol, that was Fox, was it; sorry Fox! Yes, Conan Doyle seemed to really have it in for the Mormons, in A STUDY IN SCARLET, didn't he! Are the Mormons really that bad, or were they that bad, back then in the 1800s?! I must say that I know very little about the Mormons in general!

Yes, well I do remember reading in David Stuart Davies book on Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes, that the producers were worried about doing the UTAH part of the story, as it seemed a real challenge for them. As Carol said earlier, though, the plan was to do all of the 60 stories of the Canon, so it's sad that Jeremy became so ill. Apparently Jeremy was very keen to do all 60 stories, and I think he became very depressed when he realised that his declining state of health just wasn't going to allow him to do that.

Yes, tha's right! And I must say that this is an excellent Forum in general; probably the best Forum I've ever been on! And I've been on quite a few! -
Yes, well I think that Johnny as Tarzan, are the only Tarzan movies I've seen! I know that others have played Tarzan, but I don't think I've seen them.
-
Oh, yes; absolutely! And it's a well-written story, in my opinion, too.
