Pengwing

(As my son would say) oh Benedict, Benedict, Benedict

Actually quite an easy slip of the to tongue!

(We were discussing auroras, borealis and australis, their formation due to sun flares, electrons and positrons entering the atmosphere and creating them at both ends of the world, and I deliberately said that, of course, you won't find pengwings at the North Pole. Nobody picked up the mispronunciation, no one batted an eyelid; just to make doubly sure, I read out the relevant piece of text about auroras not being so visible during the summer months, especially in the southern latitudes where pengwings have their habitats, absolutely no reaction! Must be the vowel sound of a W used as a U after a stressed G.)

Said experiment carried out in a multi-national course, with both native an non-native speakers included.
