What is your case of blindly overconfidence?

Mine:

I swear I wasn’t drunk when I bought this.

I haven’t started it.

Am I missing something or merely overthinking this?  It looks like the pieces are all alike -- so am I supposed to say "ha-ha, it's a joke!"?  Would it help if I could read Chinese?

That's not U.S Republican!

Bev, you enabled me to correct Google!

I assume y'all have noticed that Google's results these days start with an "AI Summary," which typically ends with a list of related questions / answers.  I was looking up some info on John Cleese (of Monty Python), and one question in the AI list was "Is John Cleese a Republican?" to which the AI replied that he's British and therefore does not participate in American politics.

I typed in a reply to that reply, pointing out that a British Republican is someone who isn't keen on the monarchy system, which may or may not describe Cleese.  And the AI immediately responded with "You are completely right, and that is an excellent correction," then continued with more details, followed by evidence that Cleese may indeed border on being a (British) Republican.

Hopefully, it'll remember that the next time someone asks.

Thank you, Bev!

Nope, it doesn’t help if you can read Chinese. I don’t know what it says. Perhaps it’s something like ‘you must have been dropped as a baby.’ Update: it means White Hell. That is actually the name of the puzzle. I believe the black version is called Black Hell. Yes, the pieces are alike, almost identical.

I have done a few 1000pcs micro puzzle (the end product size is 38×26cm/15×10inches, while normal 1000pc puzzle is 70×50cm/20×27inches), and I have done a micro 200pc blank puzzle like this. It was around Covid and there was a time when I had to take care of hubby in the hospital, but the main reason was: I was nuts.

Anyway, I have been wanting to do this but the first time I had it (yes, I bought it twice), I didn’t have a dedicated space. I got it at a sale and ended up giving it away to a distant relative who also likes puzzle (didn’t know at first). She just said thank you and I’m sure she won’t get in touch with me again.

Then there was another sale, and here I am. And now I have a small portable table so my excuses are running out.

It was surprisingly fun when I did the 200pc. I needed to lay out everything and squinted at every edge. You see my concept of fun is the proof I’m very fun at parties. I didn’t even know where I put the end result of that. It was a piece of white, very underwhelming.

I hope to finish    this before 2027    in a few months    next two years    before I die.

This is the photo of my dog Locky and another micro 1000pc puzzle with an printed image.

I enjoy doing jigsaw puzzles, but I want the kind that ends up with a pretty picture.  Just call me old fashioned!

Been years since I worked one, though.

Not old fashioned. You are normal.

Everyone looked at me funny when I told them I bought that puzzle.

However, remember what Sherlock's opinion is about normal!

Hey, watch your language!   <_<

Have you ever seen the jigsaw puzzle that looks like a pizza?  The box says "Looks like pizza.  Smells like pizza.  Tastes like cardboard."  (And yes, it really does smell like pizza.  Though I assume the scent might fade away over time.)

That one is about my top limit for tricky jigsaws (one slice of onion looks amazingly like each of the others, and same for the pepperoni),   Also about my lower limit for pretty pictures.  Mostly I like it because the concept is funny.

I wonder how they do that. Not sure if I want my puzzle to smell like pizza though.

I haven’t seen that one, but I wanted to buy the moon one, unfortunately, even the knockoff was too expensive.

Wait, let me see if I can find the picture.

Now that would be a tricky puzzle.  (No little purple flowers in the corner.)  Kinda cool, but maybe kinda creepy?  I mean, the moon isn't *supposed* to look that big!  Is it about to come crashing down into my living room?

It will come down if you play Zelda majora's mask

I'd better avoid doing that, then -- but I've never heard of it.  Could you elaborate just a little, so I don't accidentally bring down doom on all of us?

The plot of Zelda majora's mask is that the moon is crashing down and you have 3 days in the game to prevent it from happening

You'd think that something called "intelligence" would be able to learn.  But Martina tried asking the exact same question, and it gave (near as I recall) the same answer as before, with absolutely no acknowledgement that someone might ask that question in the British sense.  Next time it makes a mistake, I won't waste my time!   :P

@besleybean-- Hey, Bev, could you try asking Google the same question ("Is John Cleese a Republican") from Scotland and let us know what it says?  Specifically, does it ever get around to acknowledging that he may have some British-Republican sympathies?

Maybe it ignored the British meaning of "Republican" simply because neither Martina nor I asked the question from the UK?

It's not a horror game though, although it's one of the creepiest Zelda game made

I checked, and the first meanings that came up for "horror" as an adjective were "terrifying or deeply unpleasant" and "chaotic or dreadful."  If the prospect of the moon crashing into the earth isn't terrifying and dreadful, I don't know what is.

Maybe you think of "horror games" as those with monsters, zombies, ghosts and such, but to me those are more likely to be the creepy ones.  Maybe it depends on who created them.

I challenge you to look up the moon from Zelda majora's mask and tell me that thing isn't creepy to an 8 year old

I won't argue!!!  (But I'm no longer an 8 year old, and when I was, I never encountered anything like that, so I can't comment in any meaningful way.)

General update and then i had a thought...if i can navigate to the relevant forum.

Currently semi living at my 90 year old mother's place...she fell, broke her hip and had a replacement. I am trying to be nurse and carer.

You can do it.  Just remember to get enough sleep (or at least try to).

Now that you're back, I'd be interested to hear your comments on my two posts starting here.

Good luck, remember to take breaks! Taking care of someone is hard

Best wishes, Bean.

I think the hardest thing about growing old is watching my loved ones growing old.

Or, as I said to my cousins at our youngest uncle's funeral, we're the older generation now.
