I've been a Sherlock Holmes fan since I read the stories when I was 11, nearly 50 years ago (yes, I'm that old!), and I love the BBC version. Of course, the fact that it stars the incomparable Mr Cumberbatch makes it particularly enjoyable.....

Anyway, there is a limit to the amount of Sherlock-related opinions one can inflict on one's own family, so I thought I would post them here instead!

Hello,

Well, I am 63 and I love the BBC Sherlock! So you are not alone here! I also first read the stories and books over 50 years ago, and am currently re-reading them. I am amazed at the number of references that are made within the BBC series.

I am usually on at all hours of the day- so feel free to post away- I'll likely be around before too long.

Nice to "meet" you.

Hello, Slithytove and Bekah1218 -- welcome to Sherlock Forum!  :welcome:  We've got quite a range of ages here, all the way from 10 years to older than either of you, so you fit right in.

Looking forward to more of your comments!

Hi Slithytove and Bekah1218 and welcome to the forum!

Love of BBC Sherlock transcends all age and country borders, if this board is any indication. The only thing we all apparently have in common is coming here to give our loved ones a break . So throw yourselves right into the discussion!

Thank you all for your welcome. As a grandmother of 6, I'm always amused when Sherlock fans are dismissed as "screaming teenaged girls", which is insulting both to teenagers and also to the more mature fans (and I'm sure there are a lot of us out there.) I look forward to discussing details of the past and present theories with fellow-enthusiasts!

Welcome to the Forum Slithytove and Bekah! I'm hitting 61 soon and one is never to old nor to young to enjoy Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John H. Watson in all of their incarnations.

Not all Star Trek fans live in their parents' basement, and not all Sherlock fans are screaming teen-age girls -- but both of those types do exist, and they're so distinctive that they tend to be taken as "typical" by the press and the general public.

:D The show certainly makes me feel like a screaming teenage girl - you should have seen me during The Sign of Three last night... Whereas during my actual teens, I would have probably disdained to even smile at it, let alone proclaim myself a fan of anything. I've found it takes a bit of maturity to have this kind of fun ;)

Well, yes. I'm now at the age where I'm not ashamed to laugh out loud, and Sherlock's speech was gloriously funny. (And, my God, but that man looks good in morning dress!)
