Via Sherlockology:

RadioTimes.com has a poll that determines which classic UK show gets a mention in the forthcoming Captain America sequel as a great show he's missed while he was on ice. Currently Sherlock's in the lead, but the Whovians are putting up a spirited fight.

I'm relieved to see that they're not proposing a crossover, just mentioning Sherlock (or whatever) as future nostalgia.

They let you vote for up to three programs.  Wonder if they plan to mention three in the movie?

I must confess that I voted for Doctor Who.  It was recently the show's 50th anniversary after all.

You do know that you can pick up to three?

You can? Fantastic! Thanks for telling me  :)

Maybe not once you've cast your vote, though -- so think carefully before clicking the final button.

Oh no...I literally just watched that episode...might just cry for a min now... :D

Cool!  :D A perfect excuse for me to rewatch it now! lol

:D and then watching it's an excuse to watch the next...and the next...and hey, why not the next? And then series 4! And then tons of crying...(I presume, I haven't even started s4 yet lol)

Well we'll have plenty of time to rewatch episodes till the next series! I hate these long waits(well it seems like ages!), even more so this time round.

Yup, sure looks like it, though it was a virtual tie.  Since they let us vote for three, maybe they're planning to use more than one (just a guess).  Anyhow, here's the final vote:

Sherlock . . . . . . . 38.51%

Doctor Who . . . . 37.32%

Father Ted . . . . . 12.4%

Fawlty Towers . . . 4.07%

Downton Abbey . . 3.7%

Mrs Brown's Boys 1.94%

... and the rest are all under 1% apiece.

That was very close! I'm hoping they'll use both.

Well,  apparently Sherlock will be on the list ...but only in the UK version. Americans will see 'I Love Lucy' instead   Several countries will have their own list on the screen with their relevant cultural icons.

But apparently Star Trek is on both lists.  :D

I guess the moral is, if an American wants to see the version that mentions Sherlock, they need to order the Region 2 DVD from Amazon UK (and play it in their region-free player).
