Bet you don't care for Elementary either, then -- at least not on the weeks when there are severed limbs and/or pools of blood!

I don't mind Elementary ... I really must figure out how to quote and all that good stuff ... but I'm not sure yet about Jonny Lee Miller.  When our Sherlock says something rude or politically incorrect, he's rather endearing ... with Jonny I just want to give him a thump.  Sometimes Lucy Liu's Watson seems a much more interesting person than Jonny's Sherlock.  Our guys are more equally balanced in terms of fun ... and not nearly as snarly ... and so much neater !

Debbie, you put into words what I was thinking. Well, in my case I don't want to give Jonny's Sherlock a thump :P but I agree with you that sometimes Lucy Liu's Watson seems more interesting. Specially lately. I liked the first series and the beginning of the second was good but after that... I don't know... Maybe there are too many episodes?

I agree about the number of episodes.  I must admit I think it's pretty amazing that a series is only 3 episodes, even if each one does last a bit longer than the 45 minutes we're used to in North America.  But, when you only make 3 episodes every 2 years, just think of the wonderful ideas you can come up with for story lines.  When you have to grind out 45 minutes times 22 or 24, it must be hard to keep the freshness flowing.  Castle pretty much does it ... but maybe I'm biased because the lovely Nathan Fillion is a Canuck !!

Thank you Alice!! It's great here, even though I have only had time to browse this thread and a few others. I hope I'll be more active really soon!

Finally saw Tinker, Tailor etc. last night.   Hmmm.  Anyway, question ... what is the natural hair colour ... the lovely Sherlock dark curls or the Peter Guillam straightened blondness ... or something completely different ??  :sherlock: Always nicely dressed, though.  Referencing the Sherlock of Elementary ... he always looks like he just raided the closest dumpster.

Mr. Cumberbatch refers to his natural hair color as auburn, though from photos it seems to be a fairly light auburn, almost what I'd call a strawberry blond.

OK ... thanks Carol.  I never watch award shows but saw a photo from the Oscars and did get an impression of lighter hair than I thought he should have ... so more Peter Guillam than Sherlock.  I think I'm a bit disappointed.  :(  .... well, maybe not that much !  LOL !  In fact, I have a vacation day today and it's snowing so I was just about to try out my new hair colour application.  Guess what colour it is ... light auburn !! :D

Interesting -- and I was light auburn myself back in college.  Maybe it's one of those temporal vortex thingies?

He has lovely hair...I mean he's just lovely in general.

LOL !   Yes, but personally, I think he's just a tiny bit lovlier with the dark curls !  Mind you, I've only seen Peter Guillam in contrast, so I'm not really qualified to judge.

According to this article Benedict hates his hair in Sherlock, lol This is what he says:

"I can’t think of a wittier or even accurate comparison, but I just think it makes me look a bit like… a woman."

LOL !  What does he know ?  It's only his hair !!  Too funny.  It was the first thing I noticed about Sherlock when I saw the ads on TV ...   Wow !  I love his hair !  Maybe I'm just jealous 'cause it's longer than mine.

I do not care what he says, if they dare change Sherlock's hair, I will be very, very sad. I love his hair. Yes, the character does look a bit androgynous, but that's not a bad thing, is it? Nobody's asking the actor to run around like that in real life...

Though he kinda has to during the three or four months of filming.  Suppose he could comb it differently, though.

Hey! I'm sure they won't change his hair style. I used to have it, i called it my "little sheep" because with my big curls and short hair i was reminded of a sheep. Anyway, maybe it's because i'm a disaster styling anything but it was a pain to get it decent each morning. Sometimes the curls were all flat, sometimes i looked as if i had an afro. I had to let my hair grow :( So even if he's a man and maybe he's not as concerned as i was with my hair, i can imagine him being a bit fed up with it.

Or maybe it's just my problem and he didn't mean it that way :P

It must be a nuisance, I suppose ... having to look a certain way at a certain time, especially if you're having to completely change that which is natural.  It must be difficult to have to physically conform to a role ... requires a lot of personal discipline. I'd never be able to do it .  But I still love his curls ... girls love curls ... what can I say ?

On a different note ... went to my local HMV on Friday and what did I see ???  Series 3 of SHERLOCK on DVD !!  :o   Why on earth am I fast forwarding through commercials on non-HD BBC Canada when I can watch it on DVD ???  I'm not now !  ;)

Bought all three series actually ... now I'm in Sherlock Heaven !  :sherlock:

Actually,  all I was able to do was watch Last Vow for a second time ... uninterrupted viewing mode this time, though ... and the Special Features on the S3 disc.  Loved the filming information and Mr. Cumberbatch suspended on a wire off the side of a building with somebody holding an umbrella  over his head and everybody chatting away quite happily. :D  Fun. :D  Production is so complicated, isn't it ?  I can hardly wait to start watching from the beginning all over again.

Debbie, if you haven't yet come across my "North Gower Shoot" thread, you might want to check that out -- the day we were there, they filmed only four short scenes (and two of those were so minor that we didn't even know they'd been filmed till we saw "Sign of Three"), but the set-up procedure was incredible.

I've been trying to get into the board a bit more but keep getting sidetracked.  Very hard here at work and sometimes harder at home !

You actually went over and saw them filming ??  That would be lovely !  I haven't been to the UK in a few years and would really enjoy going even if I couldn't see them filming ... or find Mr. Cumberbatch suspended from the side of a building ... although that would definitely be a bonus !

Even just visiting some of the filming locations is really cool, especially North Gower (alias Baker Street) and Bart's.  I've got to post a few more of our photos, now that Series 3 has aired.

I checked this thread out, Carol.  Thanks for the great shots and commentary.  I went to an Il Divo concert in Scheveningen The Netherlands in the summer of 2007.  It was outdoors ... and free !  :D  ... and on an open-air stage right beside the sea.  The preparation in no way compares to the filming you saw, but there was a lot going on and I remember standing there for hours, more to get a good place (SRO) than to watch the proceedings as the Divos would never be around before the show.  But the excitement was great.  Seeing the familiar faces of the actors/characters would probably multiply that by 100 !
