Came up in my FB feed via the Mirror that Andrew is supposed to be the villain in the next Bond film starring Daniel Craig slated to be released in October 2015.

Looking forward to this.

Wow, awesome! That might tempt me to go and see the film in the cinema. Normally I'd wait until a Bond movies runs on TV, but Andrew... hrhr, maybe!

And maybe I'll see my first Bond movie since -- uh, Sean Connery?

Nooo!!!  Really?!  Daniel Craig is so good as Bond!

Hmmmm, I might be tempted too. I'm like Schlauer, I usually wait until they're on TV. Wahhhh, I'm not sure my pitiful little movie budget can see me through all the goodness coming my way!

There are so many good movies I've missed because of my budget. I so feel your pain.

I know, I can't believe I used to go to movies once or twice a week. Now I'm lucky if I go once a month. Thank goodness for matinees or I'd never go at all. (And it's not as if most of the movies have been worth even that price....)

You went to the cinema twice a week?? Wow!! I go ~ twice a year

I'm lucky if I get more than once a year. This year I might get 3 if TIG come to my area.

When I was in my twenties, I went fairly often, every time there was a "big" movie, even if it wasn't actually my kinda thing, but since then I've become much more selective, mostly to avoid paying hard-earned money to be depressed out of my skull or scared half to death.

These days, Alex and I mostly go only when there's a movie in a series that we follow -- Harry Potter, Tolkien, Star Trek, etc.  Other interesting-sounding movies we might get on DVD, which often costs less than two tickets (even matinee) and allows us to watch as many times as we want.

Ten years ago I could see a matinee for $3. For $3, I'd go see almost anything!

Now it's 3 times that much. If I drive about an hour away I can go for $5 -- IF I go at 9 a.m. on Sunday morning. All the $1 theaters and second run theaters have been forced out of business, all that's left are the big name megaplexes. And the movie you see is more likely to be in a tiny theater, you almost might as well see it at home. It's sad, really.

I have 2 theaters near me that are $5 matinee/Child and $7 Adult (non-matinee) so with the exception of movies such as The Hobbit, most of our viewings are matinee.

Official announcement has the Bond movie named Spectre and Andrew's character is named Denbigh. Filming starts on Monday.

I'm wondering how maniacal his villain will be. I figure he will be a fairly classy villain as they all tend to be in the movies I have seen.

I agree, he'll be a more classy villain. For your reason and because he'll not want people to think that whenever he plays a villain he is Moriarty. He'll want to show he can do other things as well.

Definitely. I'm hoping he will have a maniacal side similar to but very different from Moriarty so that people will see Andrew as Denbigh not Moriarty as Denbigh. (Basically what we have going with Benedict when he is in roles that are similar to each other but obviously different.)

And thus Moftis' cast availability problems get that bit more nightmarish!  :lol2:  :lol2:  :lol2:

Or they just let Moriarty be truly dead! He, he, I like that...

Wow, this might actually make me see my first Bond since Sean Connery as well! No, I was not around yet when Connery played Bond, but his version is all I've seen so far (and all I've had the desire to see).

As for cinemas, well, I hardly ever go, not only because of the expense and the lack of time, but because of the language. The lack of original audio showings in my country could make me occupy the rant thread for hours, if I was so inclined...

Oops -- Scott is apparently NOT playing the villain, but rather one of the good guys.  Watch the cast-announcement video (with Scott at about 2:20) in this BBC article which includes the following text:

Other cast members were also announced at Thursday's event, which was beamed around the world.  They include Sherlock's Andrew Scott, as a Whitehall-based character called Denbigh, and Guardians of the Galaxy actor Dave Bautista, playing a henchman called Mr Hinx.

'Course, maybe they just think he's a good guy ....

Aaahhhhhh! I'd almost prefer him as a villain. Of course a double agent wouldn't be that bad.

Actually, given that I've only seen him as a villain, I think it will be fun to see him in a different sort of role.

Seeing him as a non-villain would also be good.  Maybe I'm a little Molly like & enjoy seeing Andrew as a villain & would like to see a different side of what he could do as a villain or a good guy antagonist who just irks Bond somehow.

I found this randomly on YouTube.  It is a behind the scenes on the new Bond film.  Andrew is not in this bit, but it is interesting for those that want a behind the scenes look at part of what is being shot.  Put it in spoilers just in case someone did not want to accidentally see it.
