Now the picture is stage (if pictured) at top and concert hall is what this is a diagram of. I drew it up quickly Saturday night for a concert I was volunteering at. Each circle and quadrilateral represents a seating section. The numbers were for my fellow volunteers and the line was me telling 1 of the volunteers what she would be doing. Sunday's picture is the same as this only with more squiggles.

Soooo ... you just solved your own picture? :p

You solved it Arcadia as you mentioned concert hall ;)

Okay, I thought of one, but I don't know if it's going too easy, too hard, or too silly ... but here we go: what is it?

Waks!

A frog, a snake, a frog snake? :P

Eh... toilet paper holder? I'm suspicious with the dents on both side, so I suspect you took something out which could be the middle of /roller for the paper.

Exterior wall-mounted bottle open?

Posted

Nopety-nope-nope. :d

Outdoors, yes.

Posted

Is it some sort of hanger? To hang something?

Again, the dents, and there are some dent on the bottom as well, I suspect there are something like hooks if we look at it from side view.

It looks quite flat as well, except the 'hooks'. Are there any hooks?

It's not a knocker, because why would you knock on wall.

It looks new, is it in use?

Anyway, unrelated question; why didn't you install this to cover the holes on the right? Or is there a consideration for it?

Posted

Not to hang something, but ... that's sort of in the right direction. But only sort of.

No hooks. But it functions something like a hook. But only sort of.

Not new. Not in use. That's why it looks the way it does... :p

I'm not the one who installed it so I don't know, I wondered the same thing.

Sort of... something..

Is there any missing pieces?

If you wondered about the same thing, means this thing doesn't require a closed surface behind as you think it could be put on that right side with holes as well, it sort of...doesn't really help me..

Is it used as display? For example, numbers? House number, electricity used (I used to live in a place where you display your meter reading manually, no kidding).

It seems too thin as wall hanging planter box, but still workable for some orchird or air plants. Is it?

The red carpet is weird though, but it's tongue, so it makes sense. However it's outdoor and not installed by you, I think it's not there for long time because the condition is very good for the colors, maybe it's protected under some sort of shade although it doesn't help me too.

Letter slot? But no slot!

Again, are there missing pieces?

Posted

Nothing missing from this piece, but it goes with other pieces.

Not for display. Not a planter, but it's very distantly related to that idea.

It is an old thing, but the colors are new. But the colors don't have anything to do with its (former) function.

Hint: this picture was taken in a city. A small city. In the historic district. But the thing itself is not historic.

Posted

Is it some sort of environmental, recycling or some social campaign effort? Or a place to put off cigarette. Maybe it goes with rubbish bin or something? But it's so fancy.

Posted

Okay, last one for tonite, I must get me to bed.

Nope, none of those things, you're heading in the wrong direction. You were closer with planters and hooks. But it has a practical purpose as well.... what kind of hazards do you find outside in a city?

Nighty-night!

People overload? :p

Criminals, traffic jam, pollution, fire.

My table is a mess so I have a lot of guesses.

The hook, I was imagining an axe, put horizontally, used to break emergency hose in case of fire, or maybe it's fire alarm, but naaaaahhhh. I believe there is common regulation world-wide that those things have to be red. And it's so dangerous to put that in open area.

Criminal, maybe some security gadget, theft alert or alarm?

Oh, I also need to look at it later, need to hit the road.

But I still want to comment that this thing has lousy installer, look how the square bolts are positioned on the brick, it has horrible holds and probably right at the weakest point possible. :p...grumble...

Posted

My ideas:

Weird doorbell

Light switch

Water spout/fountain

Back scratcher

Foot/hand grip for climbing

Piece of semi-modern art

Ding ding ding! Traffic! Not jam, just traffic.

And another ding ding ding! NOW it's a piece of art. But what was it before it became a piece of art?

Why is the traffic a hazard and what could this object have to do with, er, reducing the hazard?

What sort of business operates outside in a city/town?

Posted

Old traffic light set up?

Posted

Noop. Something non-electrical.

Posted

Old fashioned stop sign?

Posted

Nope. More passive. :p

Signage with writing 'traffic light'?:p

Or manual red 'light'?

I'm way pass my bed time so I don't really have good idea...

I'll try again when....z...

Posted

Nope, wayyyy off. The current color doesn't have anything to do with it's original function.

Why would people be outside in a city? Where outside would it be? Why might traffic be a hazard to them, and what would protect them from that hazard? And what could this object have to do with the protecting thing?

Another hint; it's made of metal, in case you weren't sure. :p
