Bo-taoshi?

Bo-taoshi?

What the fish is that?

*google*

Good god!

I said more than 4 people, not 300! :D

But it is a frenzy alright.

Okay, imagine something quite frenzy, with much less people than the Bo, just normal number of people like many other sports.

Use hand, obviously, with glove made that way for protection.

It's hard to watch for some reason, but not because it's boring. To do this players need certain skills from other sport. Apart from glove, it uses gears from other sport, worn on head and feet but not mainly for protection (although the one worn on head protects in some way).

Hockey was mentioned as the right direction.

It's not associated with certain country, played world-wide but not a common popular sport.

Some kind of polo?

Ostrich racing?

The Hunger Games?

Posted

Not polo kind. There are no animals involved.

Ostrich racing? Good heavens, I thought you were joking, apparently it's a thing. I rode ostrich before, but race? Nooooo!

The Hunger Games? XD Since I am here, it means I won and all my opponents are dead? Hm..hm.. maybe I could be good at Hunger Games XD, but no, nope. I'd be dead. It's manipulated, so I wouldn't win, because they want entertainment and I would be boring TV. I would also spit goo on every camera because I hate being filmed and just because.

Wait.. :axe: what kind of answer is that?

Okay, another clue, this should be really good clue. The thing worn on the head is not helmet.

I saw an ostrich race once, I can't remember where. In a magazine, maybe? Or a movie? That doesn't exactly count, does it?

Baseball cap, golf cap, tennis visor, goggles ... ah. You seem to be in the water a lot, so ... goggles?

Bandana, beanie, bunny ears, bow, bobble cap, beret, bowler, boater, bridal veil, bonnet, bearskin cap, coonskin cap, sweatband... wimple?

Deerstalker?

Does this game involve moving/chasing a small object, is that why it's hard to watch?

I'd say watching from movie counts :P

And hey.. look at the positive impact of the axe :P.

It's technically not goggles, but very close.

There are a lot of words I need to google there XD but nope.

Bunny ears...bridal veil.. :lol5: playboy mansion? Nopeee

Moving and chasing small object, yes, good deduction, although that is not the main reason why it's hard to watch. You did mention the correct reason, although I have to protest, What am I, a fish?

Snorkel? Swimcap? And on your feet, flippers?

So the reason it's hard to watch -- is it because it's in or under the water?

Water polo? But why would you need a glove for that ....

Oh look! There's something called Underwater Hockey! Oh, and they wear puffy gloves!

TOET TOET TOET.... yes you get it right!

Snorkel, fins, Underwater hockey. Yes.

It's hard to see because it's underwater, unless there is a live footage.

From the top the most you see are part of fins, snorkel, bubbles and subtitute players. It looks like feeding frenzy because we are fighting for a tiny puck, dragging it on the bottom of the pool, so it's very possible to get smackings on the hand, therefore the puffy gloves.

We couldn't find proper gloves back then (I'm not even sure it was on market overseas at that time but obviously not available where we were because the sport was just introduced). My glove was made from common construction/miscellaneous glove and white glue, lots of it to create some sort of padding. We only had probably 2-3 female players so we played with the males, I suspect sometimes they held back when a female managed to get hold of the puck, because suddenly the one who kept up you was the other female and the males seemed like moving in slow motion. That is only suspicion though. Just want to say maybe that's why I didn't feel a lot of smacks on my hands, or the glove worked wonderfully.

The mask is required to see, but it also protect eyes from puck (hardly because puck is not to be lifted up from pool floor), mostly from fins because people are swimming, diving and kicking.

It is know as Octopush in UK. :)

Well done, your turn.

Swiss Family Robinson has a wild animal race that includes an ostrich.

That's it! You nailed it. Thanks Camper. greenstars.gif

I admit I've never heard of Underwater Hockey, I think the closest I've ever come was Underwater Tag. Which also involved a frenzy and getting kicked in the face. Not exactly my thing. When it comes to water, I prefer baths to swimming. :P

Okay, so the reward for winning is to have to come up with a new photo ... what the heck kind of award IS that, anyway? Who invented this game? Oh, yeah ... I should have known ...

Lesseeee.......okay, this one might be too easy, but bonus points if you guess where (roughly) it was taken and why I was there. What's the red arrow pointing at?

A trailer

Posted

:D Eh. :P I don't remember making the rule.

Actually, I was afraid of water and fish. Had near drowning experiences. Dark tiles in swimming pool used to freak me out at night and until now, I hate going to fish shop. But it's different out there.

Is that Dartmoor? :P

It looks like a tent or makeshift shelter.

Did you have outdoor class, or outdoor group event?

The rock textures are interesting. I have to squint on my phone as the bloody internet doesn't work on desktop today. It could be broken tree trunks also, but I'd guess rock. Could this be near sea?

Old war bunker?

Posted

OMG. Sorry, guys, I posted some answers but they seem to have disappeared. So I'll post them again and see if they stay put this time.

Not a trailer.

Not Dartmoor, a tent or a shelter. Not connected with a class or group event.

Yes, rock, and yes, the sea was about 6 feet behind me at the moment I took the picture. If I'd waited around long enough, I would have been standing in it.

Not an old war bunker, but there happens to be an old war bunker on the other side of those trees in the far distance. But that doesn't have anything to do with the object I'm asking about, and it won't help you figure out where this is. :P I think.

Hint: trailer is closest to being the correct answer. Er, well ... maybe tent is closer. Or... hm...

Portable awning/screen gazebo?

Posted

Portable? Erm ...... not exactly the right term, but that's the right direction. Awning/screen gazebo, nope.

Gahhhh..the image not showing on my phone again. It happens sometimes, many times. This is what I see from the post, no image at all:

See? I'm not making stuffs up.

A bit of guess before I collapse to cloud island, from what I remember bcs ^@%%# no picture!

Could the thing is actually on the water? Maybe it's on a bay and you are standing on the other side, therefore it looks like it's on land.

Portable, trailer, tent are unsure clue. It could be a boat or water transportation with some kind of membran cover. Am I talking nonsense?

You are asking about where it is. Since me and probably some others don't really know anything American, maybe you wouldn't let us guess a specific unknown place (unless you are a sadist which is not totally impossible :p), so my guess is Hawaii? Holiday?

It could also be somewhere else known world-wide, but I don't see the clue points to any indication of specific place yet.

Alas, I know nothing about how theses things work, so I'm no use there, I'm afraid.

Yes you are. :P Well, mostly. The thing is on land and belongs there. But yes to some sort of cover.

Excellent deduction! Yes, I was on holiday. No, not Hawaii, but it is an island, not a famous one so I don't expect anyone to guess the name, just the general vicinity based on appearance. (Hint hint.)

Another hint: my back is to the ocean and I'm looking east.

Hmmmmmmmmmm... *stroking imaginary beard*

Eh..Still can't see the picture, I better get back when I have access to a desktop.

My guess is west coast US Northern California if not further north. Canvas cover for a mobile home?

Posted

Egad, I can't believe I did that. Sorry, sorry, sorry! I meant to say ... I'm looking WEST. Sheesh. Sorry.

Good guess Camper! It's not a canvas cover for a mobile home, but you are getting very close.

Posted

Ok so east coast US mid-Atlantic region or north. Canvas cover for a trailer?

Posted

Or maybe a dumpster or part of an RV?

Posted

Yes to mid-Atlantic or north (what area is famous for that kind of coastline?)

Not a dumpster! But yes it's a canvas cover, and both RV and trailer are somewhat in the right direction.

Closing in on it!

Posted

It reminds me of the camper trailers that when opened have a little bit of a tent shape. Maybe Maine for the coastal area if it's the US.
