But since it's probably not that....

I was thinking napkin/letter/sponge holder but don't see what that has to do with clips. Unless you think of them as clipping the napkins/letters/sponges together...

I'm still stuck on why they're so smooth and shiny. I mean, really smooth and shiny. So it's not just everyday cheap plastic. Which means ....

?

:P

Not those that you mentioned, the grip is significant, it's essential for the function.

Yes the plastic has to be durable.

Smooth and shinny because it's less easy to get dirty or scratches, eventhough those don't affect the performance.

Since it is plastic, though, can I assume it is used indoors?

Money clip?

Okay guys,

What is this thing?

1236vyd.jpg

Bringing this over. Does the colored part slide out of the white part at all?

Posted

Waks, your image just appeared Arcadia. What is that? Japanese gate, mechanical hand, part of spare part?

Anyway, not money clip. It can be used indoor or outdoor.

The colored part can be detached but mostly for installation. When it is being used, it looks like picture, intact.

Some sort of clip that holds a cushion to a chair.

That, my dear exploded star, is a Recognizer from the movie Tron (I'm not sure which version.)

Did I already guess shower curtain clips?

Posted

XD I thought it's high-tech Japanese gate.

Nope. Not curtain or cushion clip.

Hmm...hmm... this thing doesn't work loosely. It has to be stuck somewhere.  B)

Does it clip over something thin, like fabric? Or over something thicker, like a pipe?

Posted

Not fabric, not something thin.

Not pipe, but it's right direction. Not cables either because I think I know where you are going when you guessed pipe. :p

Not plumbing or electrical clamps.

Good guess though.

Is whatever goes inside of it round or square, or does it matter?

Reminds me to the first gen iMac

It could matter, and I would say round.

Not first gen iMac. :P

Wall-mounted toothpick or pen/pencil holder

Posted

Toilet paper roll holder?

Flag pole clip?

Posted

Wall-mounted, good one. Yes.

It could be floor mounted but wall mounted works best.

But not toothpick, pen holder, toilet paper or flag pole.

Another clue: it helps organizing and space saving.

Is it for brooms and related house cleaning tools

Posted

Is it often used for small space only or we can see it on bigger apartment / home too where there's no real need to save space?

Posted

Something to do with storing clothes?

Posted

@Camper Not broom or house cleaning tool.

@Shadow Yes it could be used at places without space problem because it’s also practical.

@Arcadia not for storing clothes.

Posted

Is it for holding bins or crates.

Lamp?

Posted
Nope.

Let's gather back what we have:

- works best wall-mounted

- there are different sizes

- glossy finish, so it's less likely to get scratches or dirty

- object is invented to hold one thing only, thing that you may see daily or own.

- plastic has to be sturdy, grip is important.

- thing could be round-ish

- not high-tech or electronic

- helps organizing and space saving

.... A hook for wall-mounted phone? Nope, that cannot be allowed to bend. Would it attract Sherlock enough to make him 'borrow' one from the Buckingham palace?
