The Abominable Bride: Does It Mean Anything?
sittything replied to Arcadia's topic in Special and Series 4
OK, I'll play. How about "Bitterness is a paralytic; love is a much more vicious motivator." What if, by this, Sherlock really means that he fundamentally believes that the worst thing that could happen from a negative emotion is that he will be paralyzed into inaction? If he's alone, and his paralysis can't put anyone else in danger ("Alone protects me."), then the only risk of indulging in a negative emotion is getting yourself killed. Love, however, can goad you into action. As you know, I've always been on the Mary side of the analysis with CAM that "People like Magnussen deserve to be killed; that's why there are people like me." (Not me-me; Mary-me. Just to be clear. Ish.) But I would argue that Sherlock killed CAM out of love. Hate is not the opposite of love; indifference is the opposite of love. Sherlock could view CAM as a puzzle to be solved as long as the victim was Lady Smallwood; perhaps a particularly icky kind of puzzle, but a puzzle nonetheless. But put his friends, who he loves, in the line of fire and he is capable of being viciously motivated into murder. What does this have to do with TAB? Good heavens, what does it have to do with TAB? Well, I guess Sherlock has just spent the past week in a large bout of self-incrimination, and part of his initial conclusion is that he just was goaded into a passion killing (I'll never really think of it as a murder, truthfully) because of allowing himself to succumb to sentiment, and that his friends have probably abandoned him anyway. His whole thought process was about how he had pushed people away who might choose to abandon him anyway. Then, at the end, he might be starting to count on at least John. I agree with this, that Sherlock likely killed CAM out of love for his friends (John, Mary), but I'm not sure I'm following what about TAB makes you think he feels like his friends have abandoned him? Or that he pushed people away?- 217 replies

Introverts, how is your day?
sittything replied to Van Buren Supernova's topic in Miscellaneous Musings
Movie Tavern isn't anymore than the other theaters in our area, just must nicer. $11.50 at Movie Tavern vs. $12.10 at the UA theaters. So since I buy online, Movie Tavern costs me $13 and the other theaters would cost me $13.45 on Fandango. -

I'm all for the assigned seating, which is why I love Movie Tavern so much (the wine helps too). I go online, pick my seats, show up at the theater. The large seats and wide aisles (no climbing over people) are a bonus too. -
HIDDLESTON IS SOOOO GOOD AS HENRY V. As much as I adore Loki, this might be the best performance I've seen him give. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337Z using Tapatalk

Unpopular opinion, but I don't really mind if Mary dies. Its' not that I want her to die, I'm just apathetic about her, and if someone has to die in Season 4, I'll sacrifice her over Mycroft or Molly any day.

Nevermind... found it: I wonder if that name is gonna stick? Of it it's just what they're calling it for now. ETA: I've also seeing that it could just be referring to amendments/changes being made on pink paper in the script.

Oh, oh! Link to title pics? I haven't seen these yet...

I'm gonna be waiting for the retirement Sherlock-Molly beekeeping spin-off in a few decades.

That's been their MO so far, so I suspect ... yes. Shouldn't be too hard, just stick Sherlock in rehab for a couple years.... :P Ya think they'll go for a full 3 yrs? Given TAB picked up where HLV left off? The benefit this show has is that they dont' have any kids... yet. Like Chandler (Carl) in The Walking Dead is aging WAY too fast. So far they've generally ignored it. lol Carl season 1: Carl season 6 (roughly 1.5 - 2 yrs later per the show/comics):

This is a good question. It does feel like Mary has more secrets waiting to be revealed. It is interesting to consider this when coupled with their mention of romance too. I just hope they don't do anything too dastardly. When they talk about ghosts, to me it means they have to somehow have Moriarty appear, but in what context, I can't imagine. Does anybody think Gatiss mentioning a story reaching its 'climax' means they are beginning to consider the show drawing to an end? I did wonder the same thing bedelia. Like maybe 5 will be their last season? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337Z using Tapatalk
