Portmanteau 'Ship Names: a good thing, or evil incarnate?
aely replied to aely's topic in Characters
Holmescest *shudders* I try not to think about that. What drove me away from Supernatural fandom in the days before Castiel arrived was the preponderance of 'Wincest' - incest in any shape or form is a hard-wired, major squick for me and I won't touch it with a bargepole. I suppose I should be glad that people have codes for it so I'm warned in advance!- 59 replies

With that skirt I have to wear heels/platforms as it trails on the floor at the front otherwise (it always trails at the back as it has a short train), Plus one always stands straighter and taller when wearing a corset! I think the heels were 3 inches with a platform of 1.5 inches. When we met I was probably wearing only about a 1 inch heel. I used to be 5'6" and a smidge but I know I've shrunk a tad in the last 10 years or so.

SHERLOCKED: Official "Sherlock" Convention
aely replied to Carol the Dabbler's topic in The News Stand
I suspect the vid route may be followed and the dates will be close, if not exactly at the same time, to enable guests from both sides of the pond to participate in the event. Showmasters/Massive Events used to run the 3 day Torchwood 'Hub' conventions, which I loved, but mostly focus on signing events now such as Collectormania and Comic cons. -
Well, I can tell you that Benedict, Jonathon Aris, Louise Brealey and Lars Mikkelsen were all lovely. I assume Arwel Wyn Jones and Patrick Wagget were also lovely, but I didn't get into their talks or speak to them much.

could you use a youtube downloader and save it to your own comp and watch later?

Night BTW, I wouldn't put Nessie IN a Haggis, its just that Nessie and Haggis are always linked in my mind - you go to a Scottish gift shop, and you are always faced with cute little Nessie plushies and figures and various sizes of Haggis (including the fluffy ones in kilts). I had haggis for tea the other night - Nessie is still fine.

Episode 1, with subtitles, is on youtube and seems to be based on "The Adventure of Black Peter" for those who like to keep track of that sort of thing.

I liked this one they had just over 2 weeks ago - and am now the proud owner of it.

Benedict re-confirmed for Elementary Convention

Now all I have to decide is whether I want to get a photo with him or not. I don't usually bother as I hate having my photo taken, but... I also have to decide what to get signed! I doubt he'll be doing personalisations. And what to wear if I do get a photo. Argh! -
Probably in London they would be clamped in minutes, particularly somewhere like that which isn't INSIDE the hospital, in Liverpool people parking in places they shouldn't in a hospital area and not getting clamped happens all too often. Maybe because the hospitals usually only have 1 clamp...

With regards to AA's portrayal of Mary, she didn't know about the turn her character was going to take in the last episode (she was interviewed somewhere) so anything in the first 2 eps that can be interpreted from her performance as relating to Mary-as-assasin is co-incidental. There was a gap between filming 2 and 3 after all.

Mark Gatiss said he based his Mycroft on Christoher Lee's version in the Timeshift thing on BBC 4 and I'm sure something was mentioned about at least one of the other Holmes' as being portrayed in the same way as BC, just not Brett or Rathbone. Ah, got it - Douglas Wilmer in the 1965 BBC tv series (he had a cameo part in TRF as the outraged older man in The Diogenes Club). Wiki accords the following statement to him... The part interested me very much because I’d never really, I felt, seen it performed to its full capacity. There’s a very dark side to Holmes, and a very unpleasant side to him. And I felt that this was always skirted round which made him appear rather sort of hockey sticks and cricket bats and jolly uncles… a kind of dashing Victorian hero. He wasn’t like that at all. He was rather sardonic and arrogant, and he could be totally inconsiderate towards Watson. I tried to show both sides of his nature

It's basically an asus brand of netbook, I've just got it working again by putting a new version of linux on it.

I see there's not been much ranting going on... Well, I am not happy. first my pc monitor remains completely blank - so I decide to test it with my eeePC, only to find I no longer have the correct cable to connect it up. second, one of my gerbils escaped, which I discovered while searching for said cable and then when I eventually caught her and put her back in the cage she started fighting with one of the others and there was blood everywhere. third, had to go to pc world as maplins had closed by this point and they didn't have the right cable either, though I did buy a vga cable anyway as it useful to have one in, will just have to get the male-female adapter tomorrow, and it took pc world 20 bloody minutes to serve me! Thank goodness for Victoria the eeePC or I wouldn't be online at all

If the lack of commentaries is partly down to the sheer lack of time, you might find that if a special edition is releaed at some point, they might be on that.
