  1. I think I share a pretty widely-accepted head-canon on Tumblr of thinking that Catherine Tate should play Harry Watson. Especially from seeing the comments that she made on John's blog. It just makes so much SENSE.
  2. Nyahaha, I love your username! Welcome, Punch! Can I call you Punch?
  3. I totally envy those people who've learned how to do crazy things just by ear. I find that having an ear for it is a completely different talent than learning by sheet music. Both are handy to have if you want to play, I think, and while I'm not practicing the theory stuff or the reading part I still make a point to practice my ear skills (freaks out my fiance actually, haha!), but it both aspects still have much to be desired for me. Let alone getting both hands to coordinate; I've digressed to the point where I can play a few pieces with both hands from about 6-8 years back both hands, but that's mostly muscle memory combined with visual cues from my sheet music. And, gasp! I'm envious, I LOVE Moonlight Sonata, it's one of those ones that I kept meaning to learn but time got in the way. When I was doing my grade 7 (I think it was 7?) RCM exam I tried to learn Fur Elise, but I ended up picking a different piece and ended up hating the intricacies of the thing. Also because the teacher had said that the examiners are so used to hearing the piece being played perfectly that they'd be more likely to subconsciously mark harder on mistakes/technique/whatever.
  4. Time to add some romance ones to add to the thread. Boys, you should watch these too, I promise they are not inane chick-flicks. Pride and Prejudice (I actually haven't seen the BBC version yet, bad me! But I ADORE the Kiera Knightly version) The Princess Bride Love Actually (I kind of lost it when I retroactively discovered that Martin Freeman is the, um... exposed actor in this film.) The Notebook Before Sunrise (the sequel Before Sunset is OK, but I wouldn't call it a must-see) (Ok, so this one might be "inane", but I like it) And some not-necessarily romantic ones that are also on my favourites list: Garden State The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy (hello, young Martin Freeman!) And some highly-recommended anime movies from me: Anything from Miyazaki, father or son (personal favourites are The Whisper of the Heart and The Cat Returns) The Girl Who Lept Through Time Any of the films by Makoto Shinkai (5 Centimeters Per Second, The Place Promised in our Early Days, and Voices of a Distant Star) So, hey, I'm a romantic. Can you tell?
  5. For me, unless extraordinary circumstances dictate otherwise, I'm never without my watch or engagement ring. I actually feel naked if I'm not wearing both of them. Count me up as another person reliant on the watch; mine has the date on it, so I'm actually extremely useless without it. People look at me strange when I look at my watch when they ask what the date is but I don't care. It's handy, dammit. 9x out of 10, if I'm going out of the house at all, I bring my purse with me. But it's not one of those monster purses (how can women carry those?!), it just has the bear essentials; wallet, keys, phone, and the appropriate seasonal items (gloves, small umbrella). Oh, and a crap-load of receipts. I'm only ever without my purse if I'm going for a walk around the neighborhood or getting the mail. I actually need to get around to putting together a medicine pouch for that purse (with ibuprofin, advil liqui-gels, band-aids, etc), I've gotten a migraine while out and about a few times when I can't get home right away and I've cursed myself for not having any medicine on me to help with it. If I'm going out for conventions or a similar excursion, I always carry around a small backpack with me with a water bottle for everyone I'm with. Same thing my folks did whenever we went on trips, we ALWAYS have a water bottle on us. Other contents of the backpack vary depending on what we're doing, but the water is a must-have.
  6. Seconding a request for these ones! I far prefer this vioin smiley over . Although is also awesome... still, since aeley's is very similar to the first vioin smiley, would we be able to swap it out? Totally personal preference, sorry. Also I love the scarf one. I'm not awesome and actually don't have any to contribute at the moment, sorry.
  7. Piano! And flute! And I have an ocarina (of time replica!) that I dabble with sometimes, though I'm not very good at it. Oh, and I sing too, if my voice counts as an instrument. All of these things (except the ocarina) I used to either take lessons or do at school, I'm not as disciplined in them as I used to be but I still play/sing for fun from time to time.
  8. Which is why I have a second tumblr account. Some of my IRL friends follow my main one, they already know I'm kind of crazy, but I wouldn't want some of the... *ahem* artwork or other similar material I fangirl over showing up in their dash.
  9. Tumblr! I think it was Erika(?) that I was following, she made a post promoting it. So I lost it in fangirl joy and signed up!
  10. So I found out about these lovely forums by the way of Tumblr, and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one. Also I'm always up for following more awesome blogs. Who would like to share? I myself have a couple of blogs: a G-rated one (or one that aims to be, I need to do more cleaning in the archives), and a not-so-G-rated one (mostly due to swearing, but also some suggestive pictures, never full-frontal nudity). Both blogs consist of funny things and nerdy things and funny nerdy things. Don't mind the fact that my second blog still has the defaults and things going on, I'll make it better I promise. So! Who else is on the Tumblrs?
  11. I do like these kinds of discussions! The really make me scratch my head in puzzlement and put the brain to work!
  12. Ah, yes, seems like it's all sorted! You're welcome, thank-you for looking into and fixing it!
  13. Haha, I don't think I can type anything outside of a spoiler box for this thread!
  14. News seems to be working now (yay!), but I'm still only seeing this topic in the Bugs forum.
  15. Oh, wow, very cool! I had no idea English wasn't your first language. You speak it very fluently! (Better than some people with whom it IS their first language!) I love the diversity the forum has, even though we are still just starting out!
  16. Shall I bring my battle-ready attire?
  17. LOL I love the rule for the suicidal ones! I'm not sure where mine would go since it doesn't happen very often... in the Tipsy section I guess? -Drink once every time Sherlock asks John to pass him something (ex. his phone). Take two drinks if the something is within Sherlock's reach. And I think, this one goes under "getting yourself in a coma"? Or maybe for the suicidal instead? -Drink every time Sherlock is a complete donkey to somebody. You don't need to drink if it's Anderson, because it's F'ing Anderson. Oh! There's another one! Category would depend on the episode: -Drink every time Anderson says something stupid.
  18. So it'll be interesting to see what happens to this thread... Anyway. When I open the aforementioned sectionss, it looks as though no posts have been made. I'm able to see from the main page, though, that that is not the case. When I try to click on the most recent thread posted in those sections (for example, "Do you have any smilies..." in the News and Updates section), I get an error message saying I'm not permitted to view the topic. I'm able to see that there are unread posts there (closed envelope icon), but I can't get to them. Thanks for the help! EDIT: Interestingly, I can see this thread that I've made, but still not the other ones.
  19. Holy crap! Sound like the opportunity of a lifetime! I request pictures!
  20. I'm a music dork, so I would LOVE to attend a panel hosted by one of (or, ideally, both! but for the constructs of the topic) the show's composers, David Arnold and Michael Price. Having been to multiple conventions over the past 5 years (holy crap how is it that long already?!), I tend to notice many of the same guests showing up repeatedly, so I'm finding more of an appreciation for seeing the less popular guests that don't necessarily get as much attention and/or don't make it out to the conventions as often. So one of these two gentlemen gets my vote. (Not to rule out the beautiful sexy amazing acting skills of Benedict and Martin though.)
  21. Hello Abbie! Nice to meet you!
  22. Welcome! Don't worry about being new to forum-going, everybody was once. And, I must confess, even after being a member of at least 5 other forums (and moderating a couple of them!) over the last 10 years I still get some jitters joining a new one. Totally natural. The great thing about joining a forum that is just starting out is that everyone is new. And everybody seems very kind, so it's all good! Lilli is a very pretty name. And I see you're in California, I am envious of the sunshine and warmth you must be getting now!
  23. No, please don't, I quite like the distraction. *also drools*
  24. That helps a lot, thank-you! I'm not familiar with the British rating system, the US equivalents and the descriptors help a fair bit. Good to know that we can ask a staff member to help us out if we're not sure. Thanks!
