Thanks for the info. :) I don't have another pancake though. But here is milk to compliment the meal, euh, you have to do a bit of work to get that though. :cowdance:

Er, um .... thanks??? :D

Arcadia, I think that's why you don't mind visiting the friend who doesn't wallow in her own tragedies.  You're presumably able to help her focus on the good things in her life, rather than (as with the other friend) just listening to her litany of sorrow (and thereby reinforcing it).

And also, my second friend just wants a sympathetic ear; the first couple seemed to want everyone to feel exactly what they were feeling, and never ever ever let it go. I can understand not wanting to forget a lost loved one, but I couldn't wallow in their grief that long. *sigh* I used to feel bad about it, but not anymore, really ... dragging me down with them wasn't going to help them, and they wouldn't accept what I was willing to offer.

Wow -- doesn't the forum's phone version have any editing niceties?  If you're planning a long reply, you might want to try breaking it down into multiple points, and post them separately.  Or if you have any sort of offline word-processing capability -- even just a notepad sort of thing -- try composing your reply on that, then copy and paste.

Yes, I use that method often, sometimes I just forget and longwindedly write more than I intended.

Anyway, it's being nice today. Look, all the editing buttons are intact.

This is full version on mobile, what I always use, it's not convinient in size but I still prefer it, because my mobile version looks like this.

And I need to go a couple of step to see what are being updated.

As for avoiding people who bring you down, I don't think that's selfish.  I think it highly unlikely that your companionship has any lasting effect on their mental state.  At least, the people who bring me down seem to think of nothing but their own problems, and I'm sure they're quite capable of doing that with or without my participation.  So the question is not "shall I sacrifice my own happiness in order to increase theirs," but rather "shall I be miserable alongside them."  If you can think of some way to help them focus on positive things, that might be worth a try, but sharing their misery merely doubles it.

That makes a lot of sense, I never think of it that way. Being there, beside making me miserable, doesn't really contribute to help them because they may not need me anyway. Good point that I will most likely use often.

Not just that they may not need you -- even if you do have something to offer them (which I suspect you do), they're either unwilling or unable to accept it, preferring to wallow in their misery instead.  That sort of "relationship" leads nowhere, other than to depress you.  So once you can see that pattern, there's not much point in staying.

Thanks for the screen shots from your mobile!  I am amazed, both by just how basic the actual mobile version is, and by how well the full version (sometimes!) works on your mobile.

And I can shorten the time before I make the cut without too much contemplation. :)

Possibly as I knew they were in it and Paul McGuigan directed. Plus Di Botcher (Connie Prince) & Alistair Petrie (Sholto).

Some of Andrew's lines are the reason I want to watch it.

I am so seeing this film.

It's not playing yet right?

And sorry for a very stupid question, is it that Franskenstein?

I have read the book, but don't remember seeing any play/movie except a badly made one long time ago.

And to be honest, Marry Shelley writing style is not my favorite.

Nope, not playing just yet (but very, very soon in many places).

And yes, it's that Frankenstein.  (And that's not a stupid question.)

Thank you! Now I really have to catch it.

Back then, when I watched Misfits, Games of Thrones and Sherlock, almost all faces are fresh to me. The only British actors I knew are probably Rowan Atkinson and Sean Bean.. :P

Now they are everywhere and I am happy to see them. :)

I feel like I know just about as many British actors anymore as I do Americans.  Even shows like The Walking Dead have quite a few British and Aussie actors.

Going to see Victor Frankenstein tonight aka Sherlock lite

^ Oh it's playing already?

Anyway, uhm, it's Thanksgiving? I think.

I don't celebrate, but I like the idea. Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate. For me, I'm glad to find this forum to channel my insanity. Bear with me, there will be more to come.

Anyway, there is a guest for you. When I ask him to behave, he insists to dress up that way.

Don't kill anyone when he is around, and if you have secret, it's best that you guys show up naked.

Saw Sherlock lite tonight!   Loo was adorable, Gatiss was delightful for the brief time he was on screen and I may have laughed at his grand exit.  After now seeing Bond and Victor Frankenstein, I now realize that many of the voice inflections that I thought Andrew Scott did for Moriarty are in fact just his voice.  lol

Yes, where you are, it's already the U.S. Thanksgiving Day -- though here in the U.S., that's still tomorrow!  Some other countries also have a Thanksgiving Day, but not on the same day as ours.  As I recall, Canada's is in October.  In any case, it's basically a harvest festival.

As for the photo, I do believe you photoshopped that!  But can anyone recall what television show it was where some character really did (briefly) have a whole turkey carcass on his head?  That's driving me nuts now....

Honest, officer, I don't know any of these people....

*grumble*  Sometimes ya just gotta do everything yourself.  OK, googled "turkey on his head," and it was Joey on Friends.  (I still don't recall how or why that happened, but then again, maybe I'd rather not.)

I think I must be one of the few people in the world who never watched Friends. Just couldn't get into it. So all references go right over my head...

That's OK.  I could never get into Seinfeld (except for the monologs, which I enjoyed), even though it seems like everyone I know thought it was just brilliant.  I prefer shows with characters I can relate to, and I wouldn't even want to relate to most of the characters in Seinfeld!

I never got into Seinfeld either. The only episode I liked was the soup nazi episode which is the one that most non-Seinfeld fans enjoy.

Same here with Seinfeld. Just ... not like. Now I'm sitting here trying to think which comedies I did like ... none of the current crop, although that's not quite fair because I haven't even tried to watch most of them. But the ones I have tried to watch .... bleh.

I think the most recent one I liked was Home Improvement?
