Thanks, Fox.  They say it can be delivered to the United States, so I've added it to our Amazon UK wishlist.

Fox did something that I have done all too often -- linked to the newsfeed, which is available only to staff.  I've edited her post to show the actual image.

From Sherlockology:

We’ve teamed up with BBC Books and Virgin Experience Days to bring you a fantastic competition with some great prizes in celebration of the forthcoming release of Sherlock: Chronicles, the new comprehensive guide to the hit BBC series.

Over the next nine days we’ll be taking a look back at each of the episodes and will be testing your knowledge on each. We’ve got nine copies of Sherlock: Chronicles kindly donated by BBC Books to give away (one for each day) and as an extra bonus six of those are signed copies - three signed by Benedict Cumberbatch and three signed by Martin Freeman. It’ll be totally random as to who gets a signed copy and the winners won’t know until their prize arrives in the post!

But that’s not all…. We’ve also got a prize draw to win a BBC Sherlock Locations Tour for Two in a London Black Taxi worth £170 kindly donated by Virgin Experience Days, for those of you who correctly complete each of the daily challenges over the next nine days….

And as a final 221b bonus: those that do enter every day, will also automatically be entered into an extra prize draw to win another Virgin Experience; One Night Murder Mystery Break for Two (from a choice of 10 different locations across the UK) worth £325!

Head to our website to begin solving and enter the daily draw!

Update from Sherlockology:

As you may be aware we’ve also had some issues with the Sherlock Chronicles Competition the past couple of days. The answers weren’t always being recorded into the database for everyone so what we are doing is ensuring everyone who has played so far will be entered into the previous daily draws (we’ve not drawn them yet until we resolve the issue to keep it fair) and the main prize draw even if they were incorrect or their answers weren’t recorded.

Hopefully it’ll be sorted this evening once our tech guys get a chance to take a look.

Also if you have any issues logging into the Sherlock Chronicle page be sure to click the login button and not press the enter button on your keyboard. We’ve noticed a few people have had a problem sometimes with it not logging them in and redirecting them to a search page when pressing the enter button. Clicking the login button solves this issue.

Sherlockology has posted their review of the book here.  (Spoiler:  They like it!)

Added:  Fox -- I just noticed in this post that the cover art seems to be based on the same photo of Sherlock as your avatar.  No wonder you like it!  ;)

Oh yeah! That "Look". The imagery of the ancient, seen faintly, melding nto the modern London Cityscape, having both "the boys" in action on the cover. It's truly magnificent.

Hi, i was wondering to those who have the book, if you think it's worthwhile to get it? Because over where i live, it's really expensive, and i've gotten companion books that didn't live up to the hype. Thanks :)

Our copy was shipped three days ago, so I should be able to let you know my opinion in about a week.

I was somewhat disappointed in Sherlock: The Casebook myself (the pictures are good, but the text is a bit weak, especially if one has already heard the DVD commentaries), so I can understand your hesitation.  Hopefully this one will have more substantial content.

Really, there was so much stuff that the editor just seemed to make up out of the blue. I mean really. It really should be redone by someone not so lazy.

So, what's the verdict? Looks like I could get it for about $22, which is a lot for me to spend on something I don't really need, I'm afraid. Worth it?

I must admit that I haven't really read it yet, just browsed a bit.  It's got some interesting deleted scenes from the scripts, and the pictures are good.  Looks to have more actual behind-the-scenes stuff, compared to some basically made-up fluff in the Casebook.  But that's just a first impression.  Sorry, maybe I'll have a more in-depth report sometime in January.

What, you don't have all the time in the world to sit and review books for us? That's just ... wrong. :P
