You know I've never been part of a forum for anything... I'm obsessed.

Me neither ... it's magic, I tell ya! :)

I'd never even heard of the show -- don't pay much attention to television these days. Alex and I were visiting a friend in October of 2010, and as we walked in, she said, "Oh, I'm glad you're here -- there's a new program that sounds interesting. It's about Sherlock Holmes in the twenty-first century." In the second or two that it took me to translate that into "current day" (rather than "futuristic"), the program had started.

I think I was hooked at roughly "We'll start with the riding crop."

P.S.: I've moved this thread from "General Sherlock Discussion" (which covers all versions of Sherlock Holmes) to "BBC Sherlock General Discussion" (which covers just this program).

That's hilarious! & look @ you now moderator... Moving peoples post to the correct category... Keeping us all in line.

The same here! At first I was a bit sceptical about the character of Sherlock when I first saw a photo of him (yes, I didn't like his face  Don't ask me why :D) but I decided to give it a go and then... something happened

I like that you gave it a chance. My friends never agree with who I find a attractive.. When I saw BC in front of that telescope ( I had no clue what a Cumberbatch was)...totally my type. Dark hair and shockingly bright eyes... But yeah a coworker of mine thought I was crazy... She said & I quote " EEwwwww... He looks like an AliEn!"

He's not what most consider conventionally attractive.

Well, the photo I saw wasn't very good and I compared him to RDJ's Sherlock Holmes (I saw the films shortly before I decided to try and watch Sherlock). I thought BC just didn't look like Sherlock. Now I happily admit that I was totally wrong :D

I think a lot of the magic is because the acting of all the actors is so good and makes the characters so believable.

True that. I really believe they're this team of family, friends & foes. Sometimes I can forget that these Characters are completely fictional.

Oh, definitely! It is just spot on. Parts of the "The Game is On" theme immediately transported me back to London in the days when Sherlock was written by ACD.

Maybe that was actually when I was hooked; when Sherlock says: "Who cares about decent? The game, Mrs. Hudson, is on!" - and that lovely piece of music flares...

Yes. Also BC's voice + that music is like a heavenly aria to my ears.

Elementary I agree. When I found he was going to be on Jimmy Fallon. It really took me back. I was like blech that's the same guy that plays Sherlock.

But now I'm used to seeing him with red hair & he sort of grew on me, but yeah the makeup & hair in Sherlock really brings out his eyes & the amazing contours in his face, that his natural look does not.

When I clapped eyes on Jeremy.....!

Jeremy Brett played a fantastic Victorian Holmes for Granada TV in then the 70's and 80's.  You can get episodes and clips on Youtube.

Ohhhhhhhh! Interesting- the cabby

Please tell me what am I missing here.   If that was a response to the Jeremy Brett comments, I'm really not understanding it.

Yup, Carol it was in response to the Jeremy Brett information. Jesskay had never heard of Jeremy Brett or the Granada TV Victorian version.

It's her "Ohhhhhhhhh. Interesing" comment.  I could hear Jeff Hope in that. That's what was so creepy.

Thanks for answering Carol Fox. Yeah Carol what she said. I've been enjoying my birthday today. Just wanted catch up with the forum. I have like 15 minutes.
