Yes, thank you.

Hopefully I could watch it in YouTube just for anything Sherlock.

And yes, Martin Freeman is outstanding in TAB. Who go to his place instead??

You mean, whose names were submitted, as opposed to who was actually nominated? Does it even work that way? Don't know, I'm afraid, but good question. Surely they didn't submit Ben but not Martin. I imagine they would have submitted the script and the director, too.

By the way, does anyone else think that last nomination must be a typo? (Not Camper's typo, but wherever she got the announcement.) Surely it's supposed to say "OUTSTANDING SPECIAL VISUAL EFFECTS IN A LIMITED SERIES OR MOVIE" - ? Altho visual effects can be so lifelike these days, maybe they are now being considered for supporting roles .....  ;)

Someone at the Emmys website had that typo.

I figure for the submission process, they probably send in a copy of the episode along with the cast, crew, writers, & director list so that all eligible people can be selected from that.

More than likely but hopefully it doesn't have to be filled out in triplicate.

It also occurred to me late last night that Martin was probably submitted but in the early voting/selection round (that leads to the nomination) he may not have had enough votes even though he did well in the show.

Oh, he was most certainly submitted.

I've seen some online articles that claim he's a fan favorite (no argument there) and therefore a shoo-in for the Emmy (except that it doesn't work that way). He may be a victim of the "you won last time, let's give somebody else a chance" syndrome. God knows he was utterly marvelous in TAB. Maybe the Academy is going for flamboyant this year?

Yes, each show decides who and for what episodes they're submitting.  I looked for the submission info, but couldn't find it.

I was mostly curious if Gatiss had been nominated for supporting, but maybe that was Martin instead.  I'm clearly a Gatiss homer, but I thought he was fantastic as Mycroft in TAB.

Judging by nominations for some of the other shows, they can apparently submit more than one person per category.

That's true.  Game of Thrones anyone?  lol

If you think you are bias, I am sitting here thinking every single TAB performance is outstanding, I hope they win at least couple of categories and then finally someone decide to ensure that everything Sherlock is %#%@ mandatory to be shown world wide.

  • 1 month later...

A few minutes ago TAB won for best TV movie. Steve, Sue and Amanda were there to accept.

Ben did not win best actor. :(

TAB apparently also won Special Effects in a Supporting Role (that label still makes no sense to me, but apparently it IS correct). I gather those awards were given a few days ago.

I can't find any information on the other categories.

The SFX and related awards they were nominated for were 1 week ago at the Creative Emmys with the other 2 tonight.  Sad Benedict didn't win but had a feeling that award would go to 1 of the OJ noms based on what had been happening earlier for the categories OJ was nominated for.

What!!!!??!!!?!! That's pretty awful, actually. And scary. Wonder if her passport was in there.

Thanks for that link, Hon. Darn, I was just thinking -- about the worst thing they could have taken was her cell phone. The phone itself can be replaced readily enough. And she's got to make sure everybody has her new number, quite a nuisance. But worst of all, the thief now has all her friends and family's phone numbers -- so now they may need to change their numbers.

The license presumably has her home address on it, but a] she's not about to change that, and b] anybody sufficiently determined could get an address anyhow (just ask Benedict Cumberbatch!).

All this is of course assuming that her purse was stolen by a "fan" or by someone intending to sell the items to fans, rather than by someone looking only for cash or credit cards.

I could be very wrong.

I thought Emmy attendees are only actors/nominees and seat fillers, at least around the area she was assigned. (I suppose)

Who could have done that, especially during small window (I suppose) of time she left it unattended.

Plus surely there are ushers and other people who are actually working at the event.

It partly depends on the motive -- were they just stealing a purse, or were they specifically stealing Amanda Abbington's purse?

I thought the same thing, but I guess celebrities can be thieves too.

Yes of course. I only think it's stupid considering how many cameras and spectators around and the kind of reputation and career risk they put there. Even for non actors or VIPs.

I never left my stuff unattended even when I'm in safest place, but if I was her in there, I would do the same since it's supposed to be very 'safe'. Geez.
