Looks like a deliberate joke to me, and maybe some of the others were too.  The people who made (or photoshopped?) them may have considered them to be just something funny to post on the internet -- except that in general that sort of thing's only funny to me if it appears to be an honest goof.  Or at least it's most funny then.

Depends.  If it was an honest goof, then it's funny -- but that seems unlikely to me, sounds more like an intentional joke, in which case I find it, umm, less funny.
