And Sherlockology posted on Facebook if any kind of article showing up does gives spoilers they will take it down. They have a made a promise not to allow hints to be posted.

I found some more information, and this is a MAJOR spoiler- so don't look if you don't want to know.

There's a video showing Cumberbatch running with what appears to be Amanda Abbington through a crowd to get to the bonfire. According to a person who played a crowd extra, she was referred to as "Mary", and they were pulling John out of the bonfire.

Yup, that's spoiler, all right.

Could you post a link to the video?

The possible minor spoiler I mentioned above is technically NOT from Sherlockology. It results from combining their report above with another bit of information. Of course, just saying "bonfire" could be thought of as a spoiler, since we didn't previously know that there would be a bonfire (or to be precise, "what appeared to be a large bonfire").

Sure can post that link:

There's also a link in there to someone who was an extra.

Also, about the bonfire:

According to the extra, they were told to pretend that it was Bonfire Night- there was a stuffed Guy for the fire.

The interesting thing to me is that all of the reports, rumors, and conjectures are consistent. So either it's a whole lotta misdirection, or the whole thing is essentially true.

Not so sure about some of the details, though.

BBC1 confirms that Amanda Abbington is playing "someone of significance" to John and Sherlock's relationship.

Yes, apparently there's now been a press release to that effect. I don't offhand see anything from the BBC itself, but RadioTimes (which is often cited by Sherlockology) has the following:

Posted Image

Sherlock star Martin Freeman could soon have a new, yet strangely familiar, partner in crime-solving, with the news that his long-term girlfriend Amanda Abbington has joined the cast of the BBC1 detective drama.

Abbington was recently spotted in Bristol filming a scene for the upcoming third series alongside Benedict Cumberbatch’s detective, and this morning the BBC confirmed her involvement.

There’s no news yet as to who Abbington will be playing – a love interest for Freeman's character John wouldn’t test her acting skills much – but we're told its a role that "significantly impacts upon the lives of John and Sherlock".

[Emphasis added]

There's also an article on the Daily Mail web site with a number of photos from Monday night's filming session -- but warning: the article includes some spoiler-type rumors.

Thanks for the heads-up! I had somehow missed it on their newsfeed, but here it is:

Martin Freeman’s real-life partner Amanda Abbington has joined the cast of Sherlock Series Three, becoming the first officially named new cast member.

While her character remains a mystery at present, her role is described as someone ’that significantly impacts upon the lives of John Watson and Sherlock Holmes.’

Amanda’s character features in S3E1: The Empty Hearse, which is currently filming. There is no word if the character will recur in any other episodes.

News of Amanda’s casting was revealed by the BBC One Twitter account, and was retweeted by members of the cast and crew including Mark Gatiss.

This guy has some seriously good photos.

Seems like Anderson will be allowed to have a beard now :)

Thanks for the photo link, Jessie. Yay for the beard!

And note that Mark Gatiss currently has Mycroft-colored hair:

(Thanks to Sherlockology for passing along the photo. I"m guessing that the unidentified man and woman are the fans who originally posted it.)

at least they let RG keep his gloves and scarf - it's been freezing! So glad to see he's there.

I thought Amanda and Benedict looked rather cold in that clip posted on Youtube. And Lestrade is going to be there! Celebrations!

Let's see -- so far we know that Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, Rupert Graves, Louise Brealey, Jonathan Aris, and presumably (as an actor) Mark Gatiss are back, along with newcomer Amanda Abbington. Hooray for one and all! Has there been any word of Una Stubbs or Vinette Robinson? Am I forgetting anyone?

Or maybe she's simply not telling ....

Mrs. Hudson leave Baker Street? England would fall!

OK, then, how about some actual filming news? This is from the BBC News web site, so I'd say it's well past the rumor stage:

1 April 2013 Last updated at 10:21 ET

Residents living near a Cheltenham restaurant are being asked to be patient over the next couple of days while a film crew moves into the area.

The team from the BBC1 series Sherlock is filming at the Daffodil until Tuesday.

Fans of the show were ready and waiting when the stars arrived on Easter Monday to film scenes for the latest series.

Benedict Cumberbatch was in town, together with Martin Freeman, who plays Watson, and his real life partner Amanda Abbington.

Mark Gatiss was also spotted relaxing before filming.

There is no news yet on when the new episodes will be broadcast.

There appears to be a video, but it's not loading for me right now. Maybe you'll have better luck (especially if you live in the UK?). Oh, wait, here's what looks like the same thing on YouTube. Give that a try.
