So he confirmed that it is a "Christmas" special, because I know for a little while there it was a little uncertain,

Normally with BBC shows you can listen live and then for a short nominated period afterwards, which really isn't that very long with the BBC, mostly a couple of days.

Last night we watched a 1937 version of Silver Blaze (Murder at Baskevilles), Arthur Wontner played Holmes and Ian Fleming (who was born in Melbourne Australia) played Watson. Made in England in the 1930s it has some of the issues that you see in earlier "talkies", some of the acting seems a little staged and the diction a little too over blown. I didn't mind Arthur Wontner as Holmes, he certainly fitted the description, but I really liked Fleming as Watson. It followed the story for the most part, but certainly embellished it, as is often the case with movies made during this period. Would recommend only to those Holmes fans that like to see everything Holmes, or those that can just enjoy it as a movie. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0029565/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_156

This is really interesting, I've only ever seen one episode of House, which I watched because of my love for Hugh Laurie, I love Fry and Laurie, it was the funniest show, but anyway I'm not really into hospital drama and sadly not even my love for Hugh could get me to watch another episode. But I had no idea that it had such a relationship with Sherlock Holmes.

I take that as good news, we won't have to wait until Christmas

I noticed no mention of Sherlock as well, but perhaps it was just that embarrassment of riches. The Wedding skit what was that? It wasn't funny it was just strange. The Office/Hobbit one was good though I enjoyed that.

You know your "Sherlock" obsession is bad when...

One of the guys at work has Stayin Alive as his ringtone, (he has no idea!) and all I think about when it goes off is the pool scene. -
I think Molly's character might actually be Moriarty?

Notice what? What did I miss? The video link, is it not working for you? I've forgotten what it is but I must've liked it or I wouldn't have posted it..... :-D I don't think it was anything to do with Star Wars though. Ah I thought there was a slight mention of Star Wars in the clip, but there wasn't. Do we think that is Benedict as the Sith Lord? Is that his voice on the trailer? He sounds like him for the first couple of lines, but then I'm not so sure. My partner thought it was him straight away without me asking, he just said is Benedict Cumberbatch in the new Star Wars movie, cause I watched the trailer and that was him narrating.

I agree, I saw both version a couple of years ago and although the seem familiar they have enough about them to be different. I liked Ben as the Doctor best, so I am so looking forward to be finally able to see it again, I know it was on recently at the movies again buy none of my friends was really interested in seeing it, perhaps I need new friends?

Going to take one more stab (bad brolly/sword joke) at the impression of gayness, since it still puzzles me why that was my immediate take on Mycroft. I think there are are cultures where "masculine" encompasses a lot of traits that perhaps it doesn't in U.S. culture. I think the traditional British culture is one of these. For example, James Bond is about as British and as masculine a character as I can think of, but I think the character would not come off nearly as masculine in an American context. (That is, he almost has to be British for us to get it.) Part of it is that I don't think we (American culture) have the automatic assumption that extreme masculinity can also encompass appreciating art and music, looking phenomenal in a tuxedo, and knowing all the social graces. I think the U.S. culture has more of the "cowboy" as its masculine template. So, I think maybe some of that translates inadvertently when I'm viewing Mycroft, and what is actually extreme refinement I'm reading as not overtly, stereotypically U.S.-masculine. If that makes any sense? Like I've mentioned, I'm a ballroom dancer. (I always imagine that Mycroft is a good ballroom dancer as well, if you want a piece of totally-unsupported head canon.) Most male amateur ballroom dancers in the U.S. are hetero and I would say quite masculine. They often joke that there is nothing more masculine than the ability to dress up in a tailsuit, hold a beautiful woman in your arms, and still be able to practice an incredibly athletic sport. There is a great deal of truth to that. But yet the U.S. masculine athletic ideal is more along the lines of football. Ballroom dancing, yes I could so see Mycroft enjoying that., I so wished that was one of CAM's pressure points for Mycroft.

They show here in Australia, but I'm sorry I've never really found it that funny, perhaps in a time long long ago it used to be. But of course I will be watching for Martin.

It was interesting and lovely interview, I feel recently we have learnt an awful lot about Mr Cumberbatch, he seems to be opening up a little more and we seem to be seeing more of his personality.

That was a really interesting interview, thanks for the link.

All he needed was three words. Shake, shake, shake.

Louise Brealey is coming to Australia- next weekend!
Convict13 replied to Convict13's topic in Cast & Crew
I would assume it would be a professional photographer, for some you can use your own camera but yes you have to pay for the photos and autographs. Benedict was $70 for the autograph and $80 for the photo if I remember correctly. -
On my way to watch TIG I spotted a flyer at the shop where we stopped to have bite to eat and who should I see but Louise Brealey, she is coming to Australia, and actually to my home town next weekend, but only Sunday - which is such bad news for me, I have to go to a birthday party on Sunday. http://www.supanova.com.au/guest/louise-brealey/
