Because it was more dramatic that way? I don't think that scene was in any way about Mary. I think it was about Sherlock's inner demons. I know this isn't a popular point of view, but I seriously do not think we were supposed to believe Sherlock died. The point of that scene as I see it is to demonstrate that he was on the verge of dying ... and due to the piece of him that is most like Moriarty, he was considering just letting go. Life is hard, and full of misery, what a relief to be free of it; until he remembered that he had a reason to live. (And it makes me soooooo sad that he thought he had no other reason to live except protecting John! ) The hospital scene was in no way realistic. (Impressionistic, yes.) Even as I watched it the first time I knew that, and knew that I wasn't supposed to believe Sherlock was dead. We were watching his decision whether or not to live, not his death. To put it another way: the point of that scene -- I believe -- was to show that Sherlock was brave enough to fight back against the pain of living, and survive. I don't see a miracle; I see an iron will and a whole lot of courage. I think that's the main reason I still love HLV; I can't resist good old fashioned heroism. All of this presumes that Moffat can be a really subtle writer. And I could be entirely wrong. But the Emmy judges seem to think the HLV script was pretty good, so I'm still sticking to my theory! I've never looked @ it like that. I love your point of view concerning this scene.

I'm sure none of them were innocent.

Not in the real world, no, but I can see Moftiss using some semantic hijinks to "explain" that this is what Mary was thinking. That is, I think they're capable of making the words they use mean something other than what we think they mean. If that makes any sense. Me too, but I'm not holding my breath! I don't even care if it makes logical sense, as long as it makes sense for the character of Sherlock. The more I think about it, the more it doesn't make sense he would shelter a murderer of "innocents" -- that makes him a criminal too, which is not a label I would've thought anyone would attach to Sherlock Holmes. So I go back to thinking there must be something we don't know yet. Which means placing my faith in Moftiss.... *sigh* Although that still leaves Sherlock a criminal, as he most certainly did shoot CAM.... *sigh again* Those of you who know the "canon" -- is there a story that could be adapted to cover a situation like this? That is, where a character appears to be a "baddie" but Holmes protects him/her, because he knows something the reader doesn't? Here's my latest theory, btw -- that's not Sherlock!!! Sherlock's still in prison somewhere in Serbia! That guy we think is Sherlock is an imposter, that's why he's acting different!!! Hey, what are those men in the white coats doing here.... ? They answered that already. Mary wasn't a murderer of innocents. "That's why there are people like me" implies that she only killed those who needed to be killed. In CAM' s case it definitely was a benefit to the nations of the " Western world " to murder him. Now Sherlock wanted to imprison him for the rest of his life, but since wasn't paper files, like he originally deduced, had to go another way. Doesn't pay to be a blackmailer.

These runner ups are the most obvious in their shock that I've ever seen @ an award show. In of the guys looked like his was struggling to even put a smirk on his face. It would have been good for one of the main actors to be there.

... and I even found a picture: God, he looks so calm, doesn't he? Well, maybe even I would refrain from freaking out in that situation if this was what I was looking at: I want more "John the hero" moments... And come on, lets just let him keep his gun. I detest guns and the people who wield them in real life, but if they lead to images like this, their place in fiction is well earned... You're right Toby. He was so focused, was able to remember what was being said about a super nova in the background, enabling him to save a child in 10 seconds. So yeah he was calm. Also if it wasn't for John's blog advertising to the public that Sherlock had no knowledge of the solar system, Moriarty wouldn't have had the upper hand. Maybe Sherlock remembered that, so that's why he didn't let him in on "his fall". Hmmmmmm

See, the stuff he had on her also could of cost her life. Her baby's life. John's life. Not just about her breaking the law, but now she's married w/ child... It wasn't only herself that was in danger. ( paraphrased ) CAM: I know people who want to hurt her [ face flick ] I know their #'s [face flick] I can call them up anytime/right now? [ face flick ] All in my head/mind palace? So it went beyond a life sentence in prison. & yes she should have stayed single the whole rest of her life before even considering dating anyone. Nevertheless falling in love & marrying them. So what has been done has been done now. Where do they go from here.

I could totally see Mycroft's hand soaking in warm water to soften his cuticles.

I was thinking. Sherlock's tastes in wardrobe & personal grooming is pretty impeccable. I wondered if he is the metro sexual type? Would he get mani-pedis? What do you all say?

I guess no idea is new under the sun. Yeah, a Scandal in Belgravia would be a good one. Seems the most questions are from TGG & HLV thou. What do you think?

I'll say it. ***warning**if I post it three times, he may come back to life to hunt this forum, and make us regret the life decisions we've made, that his ghost could bring to life and destroy all those we hold dear. I'm doing this while looking into a mirror: Magnussen, Magnussen... MAGNUSSEN

Y'all are silly... But I was wondering if they have began to compete with one another. You know there always has to be an alpha amongst them (men).
