Shoot the Wall (A.K.A. The Rant Thread)
Bakerstreet Irregular replied to Banshee's topic in Miscellaneous Musings
I know but I had to rant. It's been on my mind since getting all my results back. I still think Nat'l Geo should at least publish something there are people who are listening even among the "Certain-Factions-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named". -

My rant is since being a lab rat for the NGGP, I have pretty much learned that there is no race according to color of the skin. It's all human adaptation and mutation. So where in heck, to put it mildly, is the National Geographic on all this "racial" tension and upheaval. Why aren't they speaking up and educating people on the facts of the human genome!?! -
Who Are Your Favourite Bands/artists?

"Bonny Swans" is very old going back to the Celtic Druidic Silver Branch Cycle. Harpers were of course Bards which were Druid trained and yeah, talk about poetic justice literally. If you didn't already know all of that blah already. -

The topic on how to pronounce Lestrade has been discussed on the Forum before. I think it has its own thread somewhere. But that aside, the way Mr Brett , so therefore Mr Cumberbatch, pronounced it may be totally correct. So the phonetics weren't very helpful in our research either. -

Yup, like how many places would support black mold before either John or Mrs. Hudson noticed it. -
Series 4 Rumors
Bakerstreet Irregular replied to biscuitbear's topic in Special and Series 4 Locations [Possible Spoilers]
I talked to some friends who have been renting the series and was surprised when I told them last week that they only make three episodes a year. -
It is in the canon version of the "Adventure of the Greek Interpreter" that Holmes first introduces Watson to his "smarter older brother". Yes, Sherlock Holmes admits to Dr. Watson that his older brother's powers of observation and deduction were greater then Sherlock's but he lacked the drive and energy to do the "foot work". Mycroft is described as being to lazy and not even interested in verifying his own conclusions. Mycroft is hardly a goldfish, but unfortunately he views everyone else as one.

Hmmm I have that cd....I'll have to listen to it again. Does he pronounce it both ways through out? I know a Holmes did in at least one of the movies. -
Series 4 Rumors

Greeteings Inge l-w! Welcome to the Forum. I also like Archie but I wonder how his mother feels about learning that "Beheadings" is not the "quiet little village" Sherlock made it out to be. Unless she is as curious as her son and starts befriending Sherlock as well? HHhhmmm.....any way. If it is John and Mary's fairly new born he would probably feel safe adding all kind of gory stuff because the baby would be way to young to remember any of it. -

Since he has used the Granada series for his own character study of Sherlock Holmes as a visual aid I suppose that shouldn't come as any surprise. I was listening to a interview with Mr. Brett and Mr. Hardwicke and I was hit on how much Mr. Hardwicke sounded like Mr. David Burke who also played Watson to Mr. Brett's Holmes. Even in the canon Sherlock Holmes was quite playful in his own way. Jeremy Brett certainly had fun with it and Mr. Cumberbatch is a comedian at heart, or so it seems, so it's nice to see a lighter side. Many people have commented on Sherlock Holmes darker side he needs to be lightened up a bit in a good way. There have been movies made that shredded him trying to be too too funny. It just doesn't fly. -

Gotta love labels....right?.....eehhh not so much. I have lived with being called a Lesbian for more years then I care to count and it is no truer now then it was way back when. No I don't I have a lot of guy friends although I don't have problems with them and yes I can usually carry on a decent conversation with men and hold my own and yes if I'm out and about and not alone I am with another woman. But things I have experienced while dating or being seduced have really made it difficult for me to take them seriously as love interests. Am I attracted to women? Sometimes but never in a sexual way. Since everyone on set sees Sherlock Holmes as being straight I don't see the problem. Yes, early on Martin Freeman did say in an interview that "Sherlock was one of the gayest things on TV." I would like to know how he would answer that now. As for Sherlock's hair being "girlish" I have seen worse. His own hair seems naturally curly when he allows it to grow out so that hardly any indication of sexuality or preferences. I don't see how they could be "forcing" that look as it just seems to come naturally to him. As for being effeminate that hardly proves anything one way or another. You should work with some of the guys I do. Big burly macho types who whine no end about everything and then there is Joe who looks and sounds "girly" but is one of the hardest workers and loves his wife and kids no end. As for there being anything wrong with being gay? Who says there is. I know a lot of Bible Thumpers still do but I know a lot of churches who have had a epiphany and no longer denigrate or ban them from attending. They are told, from the pulpit, that they are precious human beings and do not carry a curse set on them from God. That they are loved and deserving of that love and respect. I mean really. It's time to see people as who they are as unique individuals and not as a collective and stop the negative, meaningless rhetoric. -

I miss Mary too. They recently had a piece on NPBN where they interviewed Peter and Paul. They are still performing together and separately. They both said that even now when they are singing they can hear Mary in the mix. Here is another song that I always liked. Seems it didn't stand the test of time like "Baker Street" that I still hear on the radio from time to time but it always spoke to me. -

Guns in Sherlock
Bakerstreet Irregular replied to sfmpco's topic in BBC Sherlock General Discussion.
And it seems they may be Victorianizing, once again. I bet if someone had the time to go through the canon they would find more then a few references to fire arms and their uses. In canon it does seem as if Sherlock owns his own fire arm. I remember at least one time when Holmes takes a gun out of a drawer and sticks it in his own pocket in front of Watson. Hhhmmmm I think Watson then mentions a "stout stick".....so maybe Sherlock took Watson's gun so Watson takes Sherlock's own walking stick? -

Our BC is nothing if not classy. If people were offended by what he said it's because they chose to be. At least one tweeter said she had never liked him and him using the word colour "sealed the deal" she was just looking for an excuse. He was right in his facts and that's all that counts.
