  1. Gee and one newspaper movie critic said that while he loved the movie and thought it made a good point about the genius of Turing, his oh so important contributions to the winning of the war, and how well the film handled the issue of his homosexuality, the film was really a couple years to late to be all that relevant. Well, take that Mr Movie Critic.
  2. Even at the end of the film it was iterated that they did sometimes have to withhold vital information. Having to "decide who lived and who died". And some of those World War ll veterans may be still alive maybe some of that information could still be classified. And since the HMS Carlisle was already pretty much decommissioned anyway, no harm done for using her name. And more of that paraphrasing.....she was bombed.....just not exactly when or where it happened in real time.
  3. That's what I do and it works wonders. Or be very busy on my phone. Either way, I am left alone which works for me. Or a writing tablet and a pen or pencil that works too.
  4. It's like paraphrasing. It happened but maybe not in the exact context that we get to hear it....or in this case....see it.
  5. I'm not a big fan of Shakespeare either although I do like reading it. Just like I love reading works done in broad Scots. I do like his comedies but I don't like Romeo and Juliet at all nor am I big on Hamlet either.
  6. One night I got home late....or early in the morning....and a mother owl was teaching her nestlings to hoot. It was funny to listen to. She would call and all these squeaky noises echoing her.
  7. What movie doesn't besides I go to the movie even the semi-documental ones to be entertained not to be bored to tears over some dry, uninteresting, plodding, annal retentive historically correct piece of over worked picture that would be a waste of my time and money.
  8. Oooh nice! Hope they put it out in print for the world to see.
  9. It was entertaining though all those men hanging off the words of a woman, no less, considering the times, and then how they all rush for the door. It made a good moment no matter how off history it might have been.
  10. That's encouraging, at least.
  11. We have had birds at our feeders all winter long. Nuthatches, Chickadees, Cardinals, Goldfinches, a woodpecker or two and some Tufted Titmouse.....more then one.....Titmice? These little birds Not to mention the squirrels and chipmunks. In the last snow storm we had a Barred Owl come in.
  12. Of course you can welcome people, Cumbercowley! It just shows are friendly you are and willing to make people feel right at home. And welcome to the Forum yourself.
  13. Thank God we don't have family reunions. I usually avoid them like the plague anyway. I did attend a few while my Anam Cara was alive only because she was the extrovert and loved learning the family histories and stories. I have yet to attend any of my class reunions.
  14. I can see why you could watch that more then once.
  15. I remember my father having this album and liking this song. It's based on a true story, "Hi Jolly" being the anglicizing of the Syrian name Hadji Ali who was hired by the army to handle the newly formed "Camel Corps" in the American Southwest. There are some Youtube videos of his grave site in Quartzsite, Arizona.
  16. Very good point. I wonder if John ever had a thought that Sherlock might actually have PTSD
  17. What brought me close to tears: Molly telling Sherlock that he looked sad when he thought no one was looking. The scene as he is writing and playing the lament for Irene. His "note" to John and jumping. I had to remind myself that this was Sherlock Holmes and he was going to survive. I started breathing again when he showed up at the cemetery and new feels at John's grave side speech. Tears of anger when he was being beaten and to realize who it was setting in the chair watching. At the reception when he is dissed by Janine, realizes how out of place he is and leaves early. The shooting of CAM. Then outrage at Mofftiss for making that whole ordeal possible.
  18. Cats seem to be drawn to books, newspaper, computer screens, what ever is taking up their human's interest at the time, besides them. But anyway....to get a bit off subject. Someone just posted this to Facebook and I am a sucker for it. It is sssooo funny.
  19. 4 pm Eastern time works for me if it's on a Saturday.
  20. War is war and there are always those ready and willing to fan the flames. Provoking no matter how many generations do or do not pass. We are seeing it every day in the news. But any way, someone has those papers. Maybe tucked away in a bank vault, perhaps. Unless they were lost in a fire, which seems to happen a lot....or at least that is what researches are often told.
  21. Saturdays work best for me. What ever episode you want to watch....is fine.
