  1. Interesting thread, Arcadia! I only watched the episode once so far - going to watch it again tonight when it airs on Danish television - so I didn't particularly notice the use of scenes at the beginning. However, now that you're pointing them out, I immediately think that two of the ones you mention make sense in relation to the episode: 1. The TEH scene where the Parliament blows up. It's a scene from Sherlock's imagination, and 2. The HoB scene where Sherlock says, "There never was any monster". Again, it has to do with imagination and how the mind can play tricks on you - and how people can use your imagination to manipulate you. It happened in HoB, and it happened in TAB. When it comes to the TRF scene, "We're going to need to co-ordinate", that could be a hint to the scene in TAB where John shows up at The Reichenbach Falls and says something like, "There's always two of us" - meaning that John and Sherlock always work together. It's very plain in TAB that Sherlock depends on John.
  2. Sorry for the wait, but here goes: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ .
  3. 98523 things I'm confused about when it comes to TAB
  4. Yeah, the writers do tend to create cliffhangers and then deflate them when the next season airs. I agree that it would work better if the next episode was just around the corner, because these cliffhangers inspire expectations that quite possibly increase over time and are not easily met. I will need to watch The Abominable Bride a few more times before finally making up my mind about it, but last night I thoroughly enjoyed it, despite the above. It was so exciting and fun! Whether I'll feel the same after having repeatedly rewatched and analysed it to death, I cannot say
  5. I sometimes feel like such a no-knower (if there is such a thing). Can you tell me what the Tarmac scene is? The tarmac refers to the plane on the landing strip. That area is the tarmac. Thank you, sfmpco. @Inge-I-w: I know what you mean. It's not the first time, either, that the creators of Sherlock killed the sentiment of scenes in previous episodes by later telling us, "Here's what really happened". Need I mention The Empty Hearse? Maybe I have adjusted to it, because it somehow didn't bother me as much this time. Besides, There is very little I can do about this, though so I guess I've accepted it.

  7. Nor The Blind Banker or The Sign of Three - unless you count John getting married, which of course matters in the sense that he no longer lives at Baker Street.
  8. I think what I love the most about this film/episode right now is how it had me at the edge of my seat all the way through. Especially when
  9. I loved this! I feel very confused, which I'm sure I'm supposed to. Can't wait to see it again I have one question... maybe you guys noticed something I didn't:
  10. My head just exploded! What was that??? Am so excited right now!
  11. Should we put certain comments in spoiler boxes, or will that be unnecessary in this thread? Comment from Carol the Dabbler: Assuming that your spoiler pertains to "The Abominable Bride," then no, there is no need to use a spoiler box in this thread. (Tim has reversed his initial decision. Just please remember, until further notice, not to post any TAB spoilers in non-spoiler threads, regardless of whether you use a spoiler box or not. Any such posts will be removed by the staff.
  12. Oh my god! I live near the border! Yippee!!!! Do please let me know where and when - perhaps we could even meet... First of all - so sorry, Toby, that I didn't manage to reply to you. Haven't even seen your comment until now :( I've decided not to watch it in the cinema, though. Will see it tonight through a Norwegian channel, as I'm in Norway now. I was surprised to see that it is airing here tonight. Apparently there is yet no air date on Danish tv. It's true - we don't dub films in Denmark. Thankfully.
  13. Hi Johanna! Yeah, been busy lately with my studies. It turned out I live too far from the nearest cinema to go there - but never mind. I'm not really interested in the extra material, and I'm watching the episode tonight, as it airs on television here in Norway, where I'm currently visiting family. Family that also loves Sherlock
  14. Good news for Danish and Finnish Sherlock fans - The Special is coming to selected theaters in our countries (announced through Facebook).
  15. Without having read anyone else's answers, my own thoughts are that Sherlock is - as he says - redeemed by the warmth and constancy of John's friendship. Not because John is a better person, but because he loves Sherlock despite his often inconsiderate behavior. I think Sherlock is capable of great compassion - look at the scene where he saves Henry Knight. I don't see that as John making Sherlock wanting to be a better man, though of course that is open to interpretation. However, it is my own experience that being loved despite one's flaws - and without expectation of change - makes loving others more easy. This is what I think John does for Sherlock.
  16. If that's the name of the game, I might as well ask them why Sherlock needed a corpse in order to fake his suicide, and why he couldn't just have lain down on the pavement immediately. ;) Go right ahead - I'd love good answers to both questions! Is it very irrational of me that I am nervous about this convention, and I'm not even going? The thing is, I can just see the media spreading ridiculous stories about how silly, immature, sex-fantasy-obsessed etc the Sherlock fans are... the only thing worse would be if those stories did not even have to be made up... There is a lot of hype going on in the media and among the fans, but fortunately the focus of the convention was on the show - not on fanfiction, which is where I think most of the sex fantasies etc. come in. Even the questions for Cumberbatch were decent - except maybe one, which was: "I know you don't ship Johnlock, but do you ship anyone else on the show?" That question deals with people's fantasies, and I'm glad Benedict dodged it nicely. There was only one question of a personal nature, as to how he felt about becoming a dad. I think it's a bit ridiculous - of course he's excited about it, and what else is he going to say? But the answer was quite funny. He was asked to rate it on a scale from 1 to 10; 1 being like a picnic in the park, and 10 being getting eaten by a shark. BC answered that it was a bit of both... Having picnic in the park with a shark. I am way behind in following up on the convention... Haven't seen any pictures, film clips or read anything. Got too many things to do these days. Anyway, the convention was fun and exciting, especially the panel talks. Really enjoyed those. Would have liked a better seat, though ;) Meeting the actors during photo shoots was actually not that big a deal, as it's done really quickly, but it's still quite nice to have the photos as souvenir. If I had the opportunity another time, I might go, but I would be more selective about how to spend my money. The photo shoots are not that big a deal for me - I'd go to as many of the talks as possible instead. Oh, and on the Friday, I met up with J.P. and went sightseeing, which I loved. Was really neat to see Bart's and North Gower Street, in particular.
