Sherlock Series 3 has not been scheduled for broadcast yet, however, the DVD sets may be preordered from Amazon in the United States via this link:

and the United Kingdom via this link:

Carol and I have already preordered the DVDs from Amazon UK because they will be available first and we have a region-free DVD Player (also note that most PCs with DVD players have the capability to set the DVD player to any region, but commercial DVD players typically only will play the region that the country that sold it is in).   The  UK DVDs will likely be shipped shortly after episode 3 has aired on BBC One.  The U.S. release won't be available until after Series 3 is aired on PBS, which will likely happen well after Series 3 has aired in the UK.

Let me just add that if that's supposed to be me and Alex up there, I'm the one on the left.

Thanks to a tip from Alex, I just read the 37 Customer Reviews on Amazon.co.uk, and they are mostly hilarious.  Check 'em out!

(So far only 2 reviews on Amazon.com, and one of those is a repeat from the other site.)

Those were fun! Have preordered mine from Amazon.UK. Found out my laptop will play Region 2 DVD. And the world rejoiced!

I have heard that some laptops' DVD players will allow playing discs from different regions so many times.  Just make sure yours isn't one of those.  If it is, you could of course decide to use it for only Region 2 discs hereafter.  In any case, enjoy!

If I use VLC player on Hex (my computer) I don't get asked but when I used Power dvd I only got a certain number of times to watch both until it locked the dvd to a particular region (unless you reinstalled it before it did that). Needless to say, VLC is my player of choice.

As for my 'proper' dvd player downstairs, I bought the cheapest one I could find from Asda (a branch of walmart) and it plays everything.

Do people name their computers when they get older? Or do people my age do it and I just don't? And don't notice? My sister names her stuff...

Anyway I just read the reviews...I am literally ROFL-ing. Well, in bed, not on the floor. Nooo it really shouldn't be an 18!!! If it's an 18 I can't watch it!!! But they won't make it into an 18, will they? Will they?!?!

My current computer's called Temeraire, but I've always named them, beginning with my first ZX81 (Kane), so it's not an age thing in my case.

Besides, it's practical. My husband is even more of a computer freak than me, and our home network's a mess of PCs old and new, laptops, consoles, NAS servers and god knows what else he's added. Saying a certain file can be found on Temeraire or Willow is a lot easier than saying "on my computer" and then having to specify which one.

Ok. Just me then. We don't have that many computers in our family, just about 1 each. Ok well my dad has like 5 but he only uses 2. I might name my phone...

I only have 2 computers (that work, I have bits of about 7 more PCs not to mention the ancient ones dotted around - like one of the previously mentioned zx-81s). Hex is Hex because of the organic computer in Discworld, he even has a sticker that says "anthill inside" on his case which I put on after I built him. My other computer is a netbook called Victoria, though she needs an overhaul right now -  a complete format and a new installation of linux.

My friend who is in her 20s names hers too - her desktop was called Lisa (I say was as Lisa doesn't work any more, can't be fixed economically and is currently taking up some more computer space in my house as it was cheaper to get me to have a look than a computer repair place) and her laptop is Bob.

Maybe it's a bit of a geek thing? I don't know. My cars are only ever named 'the Batmobile' and that's because I fill them with bats...

I just read the reviews on Amazon, and had to leave the page because I was beginning to laugh audibly in a library.

Not to worry SH/LotR/Zelda Fan, I am sure Sherlock will remain pretty much 12 and up. They were entertaining and I loved each and everyone but we are assured by Moffat and Gatiss that the boys are "not" going to be shipped in any way. Just two normal blokes sharing the same flat. And of course, there is Mary in at least two episodes.

Nor, I am pretty sure, is there going to be a blue police box popping in and out of Baker Street.

Darn. I was looking forward to seeing that happen.

Unless the BBC should happen to decide to move Sherlock to a different time slot, it'll have to keep its current age rating.  And I don't think they're likely to move it -- as in, don't mess with success.

I would very much like to see an official crossover. But not in the same show, that would ruin it...I want a program called Wholock (or something), and then Sherlock and Doctor Who separately.

A lot of Dr. Who and Sherlock fans have voiced the same desire. Moffat and Gatiss have said in some interviews that if it was to happen at all, it would not include Sherlock and probably not even MF and BC.

If not Cumberbatch & Freeman, what might they have in mind -- The Doctor meets Greg & Molly?
