Siberian husky afaik (he's wearing a collar, too). As for hybrids, many dogs thought to be (and sold as) such apparently aren't.

The top photo on this page qualifies it for this thread!

The other photo is a dead ringer for what I found sticking out of Dora's eye this afternoon.  I heard yowling, went to check all the cats for obvious injuries, and noticed that Dora was squinting with one eye.  Upon closer examination, I saw a huge claw sheath protruding from between the lids.  Fortunately, once I plucked it out, she opened the eye normally, so apparently one of the other cats took a swing at her, and her blink reflex saved the eye.  *whew!*  Never saw that happen before -- and once was plenty!

I know I'm a day late with this, but The Animal Rescue Site had the most amazing cute April fools' page yesterday - a donation drive to support canine literacy, in which you could give to let a puppy have its first book or support the Old Dog, New Specs program (in truth, as they explain further down the site, the money goes to shelters).

Literate dogs, after all, can enjoy greater couch access and the works of such noble canine figures as

I think I may have told this story here before, but I was out horseback riding past an empty field once, and decided to take a rest. Hopped off, and sat staring into the distance for awhile while my horse grazed, when suddenly I had the profound feeling someone was looking at me. I turned around, and there was about 30 cows on the other side of the fence, just staring at me. I jumped about 10 feet; apparently having confirmed I was actually alive, they lost interest and started to wander off.

Cows are quite curious critters in my experience, and can be affectionate too (of course there are grumpy ones as well).
