And perhaps a few Harry Potter fans.  ;)

Actually, Riddle, I think your name is perfectly well suited to a forum dealing with Sherlock Holmes -- who is, after all, very adept at solving riddles.

When I was considering a username I remembered a line from one of the 'Sherlock' episodes where he says (something along the lines of) "I never really liked riddles". I wonder if he really doesn't or if it was just to argue. I can see why he may not, riddles are often tricky little buggers that rely on semantic ambiguity, and when you finally figure out the answer (or google it if you're me) it's a bit of a let down. I can see why they wouldn't appeal to a certain type of mind. It's a lot of thinking for a pointless solution. Better to use the brain power for something more productive.

True.  But one could also think of Sherlock's actual cases as riddles of a sort.

Philiophobic Genius, this name exposes my true nature without actually exposing my identity, and I love nothing better than a paradox, as for my display picture, it is inspired by "The Death Note", in which "L" maintains his secrecy, by not revealing his actual name. As you can guess my initial is in fact "S".

Would you happen to be talking about me? I have been called a lot of things and "Greek Scholar" would indeed be a good way to put it. However, if it turns out you aren't, this would be terribly awkward and embarrassing, but its a good thing I don't feel embarrassed anymore. Thank you, by the way, I'm truly inspired by Sherlock, and the Sherlock community. (^_^)

I was indeed ... this has become a rare art, and kudos to you for having mastered it.

And no one needs to feel embarrassed round here, we're all victims to Sherlock fever to a greater or lesser degree. Main symptom, unable to shut up about it, hence this self help group forum :).

I see them more as puzzles, riddles suggests to me a more frivolous, waste of time type puzzle. But it's quite possible I'm using the wrong word for the wrong thing, it has been known to happen on occasion ;)

My username is from a game. The character goes out on TV and is dubbed the Detective Prince. Media go nuts for a 15 year old detective. In the next game Naoto is dubbed the 2000 IQ Killjoy Detective. Unfortunately...That's probably too long for a username.

I'm one of those boring people that uses my actual name on forums, because I can't think of anything interesting or original

Yeah, I'm the same.

Your name is actually SherlockBatman?

Maybe one day :sherlock::batman:

Username is the rough draft version of Watson, prior to the first novel.  Avatar is from my Gravatar account that's married to my email.  It loads on all the boards I'm on.  It's also an early draft.  It was the original cover picture for The Eighty-Dollar Champion.  My favorite book.

Just started watching the show, so I have to be cautious of spoilers. Big fan of the character, not really sure why i waited to give this modern take a look.  I have to say, so far it's quickly becoming my go-to for the character .  An outstanding update of the entire world of Sherlock Holmes.

Still getting the lay of the land around here.

Welcome to Sherlock Forum, Sacker!  :welcome:  May we call you Ormond?  ;)

Until you've seen all nine episodes, best stay away from the Series 3 sub-forum.  If you haven't seen Series 1 or 2 either, then tread very lightly, especially in the BBC Sherlock sub-forum.  Other than that, do feel free to explore!

I've seen through A Scandal in Belgravia, which was last night.  I've decided to limit myself to one episode an evening.  I could easily go two an evening, the way I did with the first two episodes.   They really are fantastically done, on every level.  After I'm caught up, I'll start over.  Great late night marathons.  I'll stay away from most areas of the board for the next week or so.  I'm a moderator myself on a nerd board, so I appreciate the structure and separation here.

Hello Sacker and welcome to the forum!

I kinda envy you - five more episodes to discover :). Make sure to stop by again and let us know what you thought of them!

Will do, for sure.  My schedule (self-imposed) is suppossed to carry me to next week.  However, I know me.  I'll get greedy Friday and Saturday nights and double up.  ;-)  No big deal though.  I'll just get to start again sooner.  After a second viewing of them, I'll jump in on the episode-specific discussions.  There are some subtlties that are quite moving.  (Molly and her Christmas present, for one).

We'll be waiting for you!  Well -- not waiting exactly -- looking forward to your arrival!  :D

My username is just my own with 'one' attached - seemed to sound better and other Ruths don't seem to use it! I found the Sherlock pic on the Internet.

I loved the Harry Potter books/films, Star Trek (Orig/TNG/DS9/Voyager and of course the newer version), Star Wars(4/5/6) Dr Who and of course Sherlock.

I didn't know who Benedict Cumberbatch was till 'Sherlock' and the first episode blew me away! :D
