Not yours, carol's

No, no pictures, and sorry if that post was confusing.  It was simply a piece of one more post that had been moved to the new "Fan Fiction" thread -- but that particular belonged here.  Hopefully I've got the split reasonably well dealt with now.

Okay, gang, now that Carol's got all that straightened out, let's all start a new digression! :evilinside:

I'll begin: which Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle is the most likely to get his own show some day?

Since he is then likely to be played by Benedict Cumberbatch, I'm afraid that's sadly ON topic!  ;)

Now you're scaring me.

teenage turtle..? o_0

care to explain?

I know the ninja turtles. I thought there were rumours I hadn't heard about benedict dubbing one of those characters in a film or smt.

sorry ☺️

Oh, sorry!  No I was just kidding that if a character became that popular, of course he would be played by Cumberbatch.  ;)

Don't know why I didn't stop to think that he really could be cast in a Turtles movie -- after all, he's already played a dragon.

... and a wolf! Though for the Turtle part his reptile studies might come in handier than his howling experience.

The thing is, he'd have to learn the California surfer sound that the turtles have.  And It's been almost 30 years since the cartoon was on (watched it as a kid in elementary (primary) school).

Benedict saying "Gnarly dude" would be awesome and I know they reincarnated the show, but I'll be a semi-loyalist to the original (even though the only reason why I watched it was because I was at a friend's house & it was the only thing on before school & she had 4 brothers).

Surely this has been posted somewhere else by now? But if not... looks like it's just about confirmed that BC will play Dr. Strange. http://variety.com/2014/film/news/benedict-cumberbatch-in-talks-to-star-in-marvels-doctor-strange-1201340240/#

Little nervous about this one - loved Strange when I was younger, but it could be soooooooooo cheesy.....

I saw that earlier while I was waiting for Frankenstein to start. I'm not familiar with the director either. I've seen a few renditions of various DC/Marvel superheroes might think about this one depending in the trailers when it does get filmed.

Not familiar with Derrickson or any of his movies.

I used to read the comic when it was written/drawn by the amazing Frank Miller, it was brilliant. I never really paid much attention to him (Strange, I mean) after that, though. I think it's hard to represent magic in a way that doesn't seem a bit, um, silly. But the character of Strange has always been an odd one, I can see why BC's name came up. That, and his looks are perfect for the part.

Just when I think he can't possibly do anything else that will make him even more endearing. I may have to adopt him.

I love Marvel, but I have to admit I'm not very familiar with this character either.

it surely has the potential to turn out an entertaining film, with a touch of fine acting, like Into darkness. I hope this is the case.

still off the Elle Uk (here)  article about his relationship with fans, already talked about in the Flair magazine interview (quoting Benedict): "When discussing fans who furtively try to take his photo, for example, you can hear his longing to embrace a robust approach. ‘People asking is nice. But when people just go [he imitates someone sneakily holding up a camera phone, dropping his jaw to the side], and they do generally do that mouth, [he does it again] then I’m guns-blazing. I cross-question them. They’re like: “What, what are you talking about? I haven’t taken your picture.” And I’m: “Then let me see your phone.” And they’re like, “No, I’m not showing you my phone,” and I’m [his voice rises in indignation], “Well don’t f*cking take a photograph of me then. Except he doesn’t actually say that last bit out loud. ‘No, not so much,’ he says ruefully. ‘But in my head, in my head… There are times when I’m completely fine with it, and other times I’m: “Actually I’m with someone you’re totally ignoring and standing on while trying to get a photo of me, and this is not the right time.” Then they walk away and I think: “God, am I an arsehole? Should I be accessible all the time?” But I think: “Not really.”

sorrry for language: it's actually benedict's..  :D

My feeling is that when he's participating in some public event -- a red carpet, or signing autographs, or any situation where he's there as Benedict Cumberbatch the Actor -- then he's fair game for photos.  But when he's on his own time -- having dinner in a restaurant with friends, doing his shopping, or whatever -- then yeah, it's pretty inconsiderate to photograph him (at least not without permission).  The poor fellow can't be expected to be "on" all the time.

Totally agree Carol.

Several celebrities have designed personalized Paddington Bear statues as publicity for the forthcoming movie Paddington, and to be auctioned off for charity.  A Hollywood Reporter article lists the statues' designers as several members of the movie's cast -- and Benedict Cumberbatch, who designed a Sherlock-Holmes-themed Paddington.

I wonder if Cumberbatch was included because of his experience going "round and round the garden like a teddy bear"?
