For those in London or visiting before the end if the year, the Paddington Bears are up around London. Benedict's bear is by the London Museum near Barbican according to the official site for the bear statues.

Piece of cake for those of us who worship at the altar of the PVR ! :D

For the technologically challenged like myselfs ... what, pray tell, is a PVR?

Y'know, that's one thing I've never understood -- is it 11:35 local time in the whole country except for the Central zone -- meaning that folks in the Mountain and Pacific Zones see it delayed an hour or two?  I kinda miss the Central zone -- we got hijacked into Eastern time a few years ago, which is asinine.

They still do that? Didn't the Tonight show used to be broadcast live? That may explain it ... it was shown live in Eastern and Central time zones, and on tape delay on the Left Coast. But now that it's all tape delay I don't quite see the point....

Whut??????? Is this anything like the Washington DC pandas?

Not sure but it is similar to the Peanuts gang around Minneapolis & St. Paul MN several years back. The only difference is that some of these bears are going to be auctioned off for charity.

I'm wondering if a PVR is like a DVR, type of video recorder.

Posted

My thoughts as well -- programmable video recorder?

I feel for you. My brother went to college in Terre Haute and we would have to figure out when he was in central & when he was in eastern when we wanted to talk with him.

I think you're talking about the late lamented era when Indiana had the good sense NOT to observe Daylight Time (just because all the other kids were doing it).  This effectively meant that we were on Eastern Standard Time in the winter and Central Daylight Time in the summer -- though officially we were on Eastern Standard year 'round.  It was confusing for people in other states, but we loved it -- no clock changes!

So -- ISU or Rose?

I assume it's so it'll be a late-night show in all locations.

These particular Paddingtons are decorated statues of bears, if that's any help (based on a fictional character).  What are the DC pandas?

He was at Rose.

The official Tonight Show website confirms it (if you scroll to the right in the guest lineup at the top of the page) -- Monday the 17th at 11:35 (10:35 Central time) on NBC.

Really?!  I guess 'cause I grew up EST, the brief year I lived in CST drove me crazy having to subtract an hour.

He is also on Kelly & Michael on the morning of the 17th, so he has a lot of crazy travel that day.

Hopefully not too bad as both are filmed in NYC. He just has to fight their insane traffic.

BTW ... the question was on the previous page ... a PVR is the same as a DVR.  My cable provider refers to them as PVRs ... so Personal Video Recorder is the same as Digital Video Recorder if you subscribe to Rogers Cable here in Canada.  Been kinda busy lately and my viewing inventory is piling up so if it snows this weekend I'm gonna watch TV !  (Sold my snowblower last night and have no shovels in the house ... they're in the shed and I lent the key for the shed to my neighbour and I can't find him.  So, while I'm not clearing snow, I can spend some happy viewing time with my PVR !  :D )

Interesting... I don't use those type of devises. I do have an old, cheap DVD player. I use Netflix... Hay by the way all, get rid of cable and get Chromecast, well worth it. Anywhere you go you can cast NEtflix, Hulu, Youtube, Crackle...ect from your phone or laptop. SO COOL!!!! You have to make sure you purchase the one that works on your Continent however. Even now I'm casting this forum from my laptop onto my flat screen. LOVE IT!! just have to have WiFi access.

I liked being able to watch the late-night shows without actually having to stay up late. Plus, the clock was a closer match to the sun when we were in Central. (Eastern Daylight here is totally asinine -- it doesn't get dark till almost 10 pm in June.)

And speaking of "hijacked" -- :hijacked:

I've heard Benedict has a great concern for time zones...

Yeah, he must encounter a lot of jet lag, working in places like California and New Zealand.  :D

Just flipping channels and saw BC's face at the Hollywood Film Awards. Never heard of these awards, is he up for something? I see Keira Knightley won for Imitation Game, currently googliing for more info.

Posted

Also see Morten Tyldum won as director of Imitation Game....

Well, this is a pretty amateurish production that I can find almost no info about, but .... Congratulations to BC for winning the Hollywood Actor award!!!!

His acceptance speech was elegant and brief, and he appears to be the only person in the room who's not high. Oh, and his hair's still growing......

Let's see if Charlie Rose snags an interview with him afterwards.....

Posted

BTW, he won for Imitation Game, of course. But Gone Girl has just won the best film award.

Yup. Read above. :D

No worries!

Oh, a dream come true! BC's going to be on Jon Stewart's Daily Show on 11/18. Looks like I'm not going to be getting to bed on time next week.....
