I'm pretty (pleasantly) surprised that Moriarty made it into second. Nice to know I'm not the only one who loves an insane villain!

Ha! He's a in-your-face character without actually being a complete disgusting creature like Magnussen, of course those with adventurous spirit would be attracted to such beacon.

Your profile pic keep make me goes

Haha! I love Mycroft. He's my kind of person. And I think you nailed it re: Moriarty. Also, I think he's quite charming.
Delicious! :D

Delicious indeed! I always find other robots attractive. Heh.

Robot is Commander Data, not Mycroft :P

Data was indeed a robot...hmm now that's what they need in the next Star Trek film...Data and some shot of Khan (because we love our Sherlock's 'alter ego' ;) )

I must confess, the only Star Trek I've seen are the reboot movies. Khan was pretty damn sexy.

Look up Star Trek: the next generation or Brent Spiner on the internet and you'll find out about Data. He was TNG's equivalent to Spock kind of.

I love that pic of Khan and those words make it even better.

I met Brent Spiner a couple years ago at the gong show that was Calgary Comic Expo 2012. A huge number of TNG cast members were there and they grossly mismanaged ticket sales. The fire department spent a few hours denying prepurchased ticket holders (like me) entry. Anyway, he was very nice. But not a robot.

Lestrade is the one you'd feel most comfortable approaching, I think. He's just.... likable.

Definitely.  Maybe that's why he became a policeman, he likes to help people.  Or maybe that's how he learned to be approachable, by being a policeman.  In any case, it's his job, and he's good at it.

*ahem* Actually, Data is an android, not a robot. (Do your research!  ;)  )  Mycroft could be an android too, I suppose.

Data is an android who's trying to become a real boy, and Mycroft's a real boy who's trying to become an android....... :d

*cough* Actually, android in robotics is a humanoid-shaped robot, exactly like Commander Data. I would be really scared if Mycroft is an android. Remember how Lore and b4 had become? ;)

Wouldn't care to have it turn out that Mycroft really is an android, no.  (For one thing, that would have been an incredibly difficult delivery for Mummy.)

I guess technically an android is merely a robot that looks (to one degree or another) like a human -- but it's my impression that androids are generally also more technologically advanced, possibly even having some components that are grown rather than manufactured.  For whatever reason, characters in SF stories generally seem to think there's a difference.

Good use of Doctor Who if I remember correctly.

Maybe Mycroft was born human then became android because of some freak accident kind of like Inspector Gadget only without all of the gadgets.

I just did some google-fu b/c I'm not very sci-fi savvy, and it seems Cybermen are cyborgs b/c they contain organic matter (human brains)?

It is actually just Sherlock at #1 by a huge margin, followed by Mycroft.

Now the poll required me to vote for a 3rd...so I chose John Watson, even though he does nothing for me, in "that" respect.  But having to choose he would still fare higher than Lestrade or Moriarty etc.

Guess I'm just a Holmes girl.

Simply adding up all the first, second, and third choices, the current total ranking is:

7 + 1 + 2 = 10 Sherlock

0 + 5 + 3 =   8 Greg

2 + 3 + 2 =   7 Jim

1 + 1 + 4 =   6 John

1 + 2 + 1 =   4 Mycroft

1 + 0 + 0 =   1 Sherlock's father

If we weight the votes (1st place = 3 points, 2nd = 2 points, 3rd = 1 point), then it's slightly different:

7(3) + 1(2) + 2(1) = 25 Sherlock

2(3) + 3(2) + 2(1) = 14 Jim

0(3) + 5(2) + 3(1) = 13 Greg

1(3) + 1(2) + 4(1) =   9 John

1(3) + 2(2) + 1(1) =   8 Mycroft

1(3) +0(2) +  0(1) =   3 Sherlock's father

... and with all 0's (so far!):

CAM

Anderson

Tom

With the lasted votes added the ranking is as follows:

Name:                   Normal     Weighted (as described above)

Sherlock                 12                 31

Lestrade                  9                  15

Moriarty                   7                  14

John                        7                  10

Mycroft                    6                  11

Sherlock's Father     1                   3

CAM                       0                   0

Anderson                0                   0

Tom                        0                   0

I can't even answer this - it's a tie between Sherlock and John for me and then nothing.

Sherlock's more the usual physical type I'm attracted to but I have a HUGE soft spot for John. Also, I think Martin Freeman looks really good in everything and I like Benedict Cumberbatch mostly as Sherlock.

If I really had to choose this would probably be my list -

1. John and Sherlock as a pair :P

2. Sherlock

3. John

Lestrade... likeable, worldly, capable, can take care of himself and sane. Mature men (not about age) is a major turn on ^^

1. John. I'm such a sucker for John, really. Everything about him, I find intensely alluring.

2. Lestrade. Nice, decent guy, and quite attractive.

3. Moriarty. I know, I'm creepy.

My love for Sherlock is strictly platonic. I'm sure he'd be okay about it xD

Sherlock- I don't even know where to start. His eyes perhaps, get lost in them sometimes. The coat is a huge turn on for me. Just makes him look so powerful and detective-y. His hair, run my fingers through like Louise Brealey said. Although he can be a big jerk unintentionally, and I feel like slapping him for walking over others like they are nothing. He can either make you or he can destroy you completely. Mostly the latter though. But the biggest reason he makes go weak on my knees is, his beautiful brain. The way he can just read you, deduce you, and tell you things about yourself that even you didn't know. He just leaves you baffled. He seriously makes everyone seem so dumb around him, even guys like Moriarty and Magnussen. The way he can turn the tables in just a matter of seconds. He's such a powerful and fresh character.

Mycroft- He's so dang mysterious, what's his life story. He's dubbed as the iceman, but is he really the iceman? I swear to god every time he comes on the screen I just... Ughhh get annoyed but that's why I am so fascinated by him. I sometimes feel like I know nothing about this man except his name. He's so subtle in the way he reveals things about himself and he talks in riddles most of the time. He's one character I believe that can challenge everyone including Sherlock ofcourse, sibling rivalry.

John- Well he seems to be the most human out all the characters. He's honestly as complicated as Sherlock and he is keen for adventure just like him. Seriously though what kind of normal person chooses to put themselves into life threatening situations and gets a kick out of it? Well other than Sherlock, and he's far from what we could consider normal. But John is a perfect balance between a good, kind man and a badass.

I remember that John was my emotional key into the series' universe, someone I was able to relate to. At the first marathon viewing Sherlock seemed to be so distant, so elusive and full of contradictions - I remember sometimes wanting to kick his butt and seconds later wanting to hug him, with an uncomfortable awareness that he would hate this. And then the a failed writer in me thought that if I was ever able to write a character the way Sherlock was written, I would die happy.

It needed some repeated viewings to realize how much I actually identify with Sherlock, his views, his weaknesses and fears. The rest is what Mollock wrote about him, and also about Mycroft. Brainy is so damn sexy.

Sadly, in my case, gushing over Sherlock feels wrong - because of the age difference. I'm so obsessed with logic that even my dream world had to make sense.

Mycroft's enigma - what would you find if you was able to get through this ice armor?

Same here. I think it was when they made the switch from John's p.o.v. to Sherlock's p.o.v. in Season 3 that I realized how much more I identify with Sherlock than with John. I wonder if they'll switch back? I'm not sure how well that would work, to put Sherlock at a distance again. Although I think some people prefer it that way; more ACD-ish.

I am not gushing about Sherlock, it is Greg Lestrade which is very much out of my age range (hi, papa!) but hey, who cares? That's my own brain who make me fangirling everyday. He's so drool-worthy. :D

Behind the ice-armour? Probably an ordinary man, albeit one with very high performance processor installed from birth.

OK, that may be part of the reason that S3 feels so -- odd -- to me. I still identify more with John, and he's kinda left out in the cold during much of the series. Presumably the Victorian Special will be more Watson-centric, and after that, we'll just have to wait (and wait!) and see.  Maybe they can do John's p.o.v. without distancing Sherlock -- seems like Conan Doyle managed pretty well.
