Wait ... so the "separator" is part of a mechanism for moving them along? To me that looks like a bunch of little wheels or links -- like a bicycle chain. I thought the "sticks" were like cogwheels that helped keep them moving, but ... ?

Dirty round plastic things ... LOTS of dirty round plastic things ... but some aren't dirty ... probably have been and/or will be recycled .... multiple sizes ... yellow lighting ... wet ...

???

In this picture, are these balls performing the function for which they were created? Or is that part of their life's journey over, and this is a picture of what happens to them afterwards?

The "sticks" look like they're made of metal. They make me think of silverware in a cafeteria...

Ohhh ... you put "dirty" in quotes. Does that mean it's not really dirt but something more intentional? Like, uh ... um... hmmm..... ?

Could the balls be some kind of soil substitute?

Would probably get dirty if you put plants in them..? And they come in lots of colours!

Let me collect all the deductions, with answers to newest questions and add more clues here and there. I think there are a lot of good leads and observations. However, there is something fundamental that you all missed/wrong.

Plastic or rubber balls.

Not orange.

Water depth doesn't really matter.

Not conveyor belt.

The yellow doesn't matter. There are other colors too, caused by special lighting. Clue: actual balls are white.

Don't forget 'Separator' is not separator, it's just how we talk about the thing in the middle, I didn't say its main purpose to move balls. It has other thing to do about 'move'.

There are something like sticks or spikes, they have very significant purpose.

Not gear wheels or chopsticks. Not arcade game. No black lighting. Not bicycle chain or cogwheels.

Balls are manufactured, not toys.

Additional clue: different ball's sizes don't really matter for the question. Most likely they are recycled from past uses and will be recycled for future uses.

Not packing material.

It's not dirty, it's intentional. Clue, the 'dirtier' they are, the better they serve their purpose.

In the picture, the balls are performing their function. Clue, it's passive function.

Sticks not silverware.

Not those soil substitute (I use them, they look horribly dirty after a while :P)

Math is fun.

Watched too much Hannibal.

And giggle like immature idiot everytime we talk about balls. Heh. XD

Not a photo from electron microscope.

Are the balls used to purify water? Do they adsorb impurities like activated charcoal does?

They'd get dirty with time..

But those sticks!

What could they be? Hmm...

You are having way too much fun tormenting us.

Ah.. no.. I am here thinking I could be exposed any time, and that someone will see through the back of my skull, although I would advice against that, those things inside my head are not pretty.

So having fun you said? nooooooo, unless it has anything to do with this expression that has been sprawling from ear to ear.

Okay, okay, I tell you the fundamental thing that all of you missed/wrong, that seems to be the main factor that leads to wrong direction; the size. Shadow being the wrong-est in size. Think bigger. Bigger.

No hope looking from a phone. Oh well, at least I hold the title of The Wrong-est this time :P

@sherlockpoirot: Your profile picture, nice arrangement for a small balcony. Think I'll try something along that line for my next Sims house. ^^

Got it! I knew they looked familiar! It's a herd of Rovers! Migrating.

Okay, okay ...

Do other things roll over them?

@ShadowDweller thanks! But it isn't our balcony. More my dad's idea about what it ought to look like. It's one of the many things he and mum are always arguing about..

@Arcadia what WAS that?

THAT was one of the greatest TV shows ever made ..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-BE8iicBkg&ebc=ANyPxKovUcqf348w2EBTOsAv9A28Mo5ffjRDwtzLC6yWcfim_rdriG38AC0JNe-INdNrPRN46zjO

@Shadow :p I want to point that the balls are bigger. What is the better way than saying that electron is the wrongest in size XD. There are many other ways I suppose... :D But you gotta admit it's sexier.

@Arcadia.... you..you refuse to watch Hannibal for..for that??? :blanket:

Anyway, the balls in that weird show :p is closer to the size of the ones in the picture. The bigger balls are probably not too much smaller than Rover, but can't hold human inside (I thought that's what I see from the link but I barely understand what's going on. There in someone inside Rover right? See? how that human eating murderous ball is less scary than.....Hannibal? I have feeling I misunderstand the Rover terribly, but nahhhhhhh).

Don't focus on what the balls are, but more on the overall story about what is happening there. I would say you guys had noticed everything crucial, now that you know the size, it's all about understanding the objects, finding and connecting the red thread from the clues. What you see in the picture is indeed uncommon but the idea is very common.

Hell, yes!!! Patrick McGoohan was gorgeous ... ;)

I have feeling I misunderstand the Rover terribly, but nahhhhhhh).

Nope, you haven't. :P It is indeed a large, murderous white ball. Obviously the granddaddy of the balls in your photo. Don't trust them, people, they're coming to get you ......

Bear? Footprint? Huh?

Ah..Mads Mikkelsen is charming too, he has B grade voice.

Your guy..from some scenes I managed to catch, he looked tiny bit... er...constipated.

Murderous white ball! :D Can't say classic movies are not creative.

But nah.. the balls in my photo are harmless and very well behaved.

Deduction! You have twelve hours or I'll kick my colleague in the butt. So please, don't solve it yet, I want to do that. :)

Bear's footprint. Hear me out..last time you post a picture about squirrel being hunted by bird. Now you said in another thread you want to hunt squirrel in that same vicinity. I know how bear's prints look like, but not so sure how is the print of teddy-bear-noseless-oneloopyear-potrudingcolarbone's like. See? It's not hard to understand what is going on in my brain. Right? Right? XD

Never fear, I don't think there's any danger of solving it between now and next week.... but I will continue to embarrass myself, nonetheless.

Ummm ... wow. People sized balls that are supposed to be dirty, and the color of the light keeps changing.... is the "dirt" some kind of paint? It's early yet, so I get as many guesses as I want. Are the sticks for herding the balls? Or for popping them? (What happens when you pop one? Ewww, ball guts...) So the "divider" is a lot bigger than I thought..... (yeah, so what?) Is this outdoors, is that why it's wet? The sticks look like they're made of metal, are they? Ummmm.....

Some sort of paint ball orgy?

Ah. I see. Well. It's not snowing anymore, so ... bwahahaha, no prints!

It's not hard to understand what is going on in my brain. Right? Right? XD

Just stay put, the men from the insane asylum will be there any minute. :P

Sorry, I thought I had answered your guess with the size, but realized it could still possible for bigger size, but no, not purifier.

Your guy..from some scenes I managed to catch, he looked tiny bit... er...constipated.

WHAT!?!?!? How dare you!!!!!!!!  :axe:

There were some scenes when he looked at something suspiciously, one eyebrow up, and I can't tell what he was thinking except connecting it to the need to go toilet.

You are getting there.

Not really paint, but similar nature. No the balls are not having orgy, told you they are very well behaved.

Stick not for herding or producing ball guts.

Yes, it is outdoor.

Metal.. I'm not so sure, don't think so. Did a bit of reading; mostly not, but some part could be made from some metal.

Now, I'm off to kick people's butts. I blame you all.

Oh, I took liberty to multiply the number of butt-kicking recipients because..eh..because there is no more snow in Arcadia's place! (It's obvious she is the one to blame here right XD)

Asylum is just natural progression from straightjacket. :)

There's no snow at my place either and it even snowed today.

Yeah!!! See!!! It's Camper's fault!!!

Hmm... some sort of ink, or dye?

Do the balls absorb ... something?

That "divider" ... is it a series of wheels or rollers?

The "sticks" ... I have no clue. Why don't you go beat your colleagues with them, save your feet for walking? :p

Posted

Okay! Another guess!

The balls are buoys.

buoys-9l2w.96131251_large.jpg

They could come in rover size too.

Spherical_Steel_Bouys.jpg

The 'divider' is a jetty like thing. It's high tide so we can't see the things supporting the platform.

Sigh. I'm wrong again aren't I?

Yes,some sort of ink. Balls don't absorb anything. Not rollers or wheels.

Stick: oh yes, I entered the room and declare ,"I come I see I kick." Nobody seemed cooperative, so I used stick, like suggested. :P

Ah! Good one. Balls are not buoys, but yes divider is like jetty thing, those floating structure with platform above. Tide is not important or significant.

Ink and jetty-like, Good progress!

P.S: I like how we now refer to Rover fondly as if it's old friend. :)

I still don't have a clue and it's snowing again today with a little bit sticking.

Maybe ink bobbers to keep the ink mixed?
