Nope further south and a lot further east and just need the name of the lake.

I would eliminate Canada, just because it had been guessed and don't think it's correct.

I eliminate US also, because you are there. Why? Uh..well, you are there.. I believe this is your travelling picture, so you probably want to show picture that you took further.

Unless it's actually white water because of wave, I eliminate Asia. I believe there is no snow in those places you mentioned.

So, left Europe. Is it right so far that it's in Europe?

Is there a certain clue that can be found on the picture to determine the exact place?

Posted

Europe is too Far East. The part of Canada mentioned is too far west while Canada is still plausible. And the US is also very plausible as well.

Nope, further south and east a little ways. Manitoba does not see/touch this lake.

Today is Tuesday, but feels like Monday. So I get two guesses.

Lake of the Wood?

Rainy Lake? (Sounds romantic btw)

These two have quite similar terrains with the photo.

Posted

Closer but not quite. Need to go further east about half a state of Minnesota.

Posted

Mille Lacs Lake.. I'm shooting blindly.

And there is one with cute name Winnibigoshish :P.

Posted

Neither of those. A lot larger than Mille Lacs Lake and further east and a little north. About 2.5 hrs from me instead of 1 hr. If Rainy Lake is in the middle of the state east/west wise along the border and you need to go east half of the total east/west length of the state as measured by the border that would put you at what lake?

Posted

Correct Van Buren, it is Lake Superior from the Minnesota side of the lake versus Wisconsin or Canada.  It is about 2.5 hours SW of Canada following the lake shore highway.

This may be easy.

What is this and for the bonus prize of 10 dancing cows, where is it?

It's Marilyne Potvin's signature and it's on her business card???

It looks like it could be a temple or shrine on stilts maybe in the Philippines

What the ... that's not the picture that was there a minute ago!!!

Whoa..? Is it?

I changed the picture but it's the same picture. I just blow it up because the first one was only a size of thumbnail.

Don't blame me.. XD

So not..Marilyne Potvin, whoever is it..

And it's not temple or shrine and the place is not right.

Part of sign for Grauman's Chinese theater in LA?

Oh, this is weird. When I first saw it, it was a much smaller picture, with the handwritten words "Signature MP" and underneath that, typeset, "Marilyne Potvin" and a phone number. Honest!

Anyway ... if it's not a temple ... it looks pretty high up, so is it an observation post of some kind? and it looks Thai.

Is it a Buddhist bell tower?

Posted

Regarding: picture. That is weird. Maybe because it's public image hosting site? I don't even need to log in, and the filenames look very simple with not many variations, maybe they replace the image using the same name after some inactivity? It happened once before, I post a picture in cute animal thread, then when I went back for the reply, it had changed to some unknown human picture. Yikes.

Anyway it's not a bell tower. Some relation to Buddish, yes.

Technically and literally not a temple.

Yes, it's high up, but not observation post.

Good progress and observations so far, two free dancing cows! :p

No picture. I only see the filename, 2pys09f.jpg :|

Can you see it below, Shadow?

How about my guess deduction that it's Thai? (Or maybe Laotian?)

Hmm... I don't see any way to get into it. Nesting place for large birds? Oh, wait ... that might be a ladder on the back. Ummmm..... normally I would think it would be on stilts like that to protect it from floods, but it looks too high for that.

Is the hole there on purpose? To look in, or go in, or to poke something out of?

Oh! Is it a spirit house?

Thai and Laotian are incorrect.

The hole, uhm, I don't think it has a purpose. It might not be a hole, maybe some photo defect and building damage. Can't remember, it was five years ago, but I can tell you there shouldn't be a hole there.

Good observation on the ladder.

But not spirit house.
