One of my criteria for a real friend is that if they ask "how are you", you can answer truthfully.

That is true. But always have difficulty sharing. I don't remember ever answer truthfully or more than basic fine even when I am in worse time, actually worse time is when I don't want to talk about it the most with my friends.

Oh the utter physical and mental exhaustion of a Monday morning.

Yah I feel it too, somehow today is worse than other Mondays eventhough noone disturbs me. I am coming here to escape for a moment.

What's up October!

But don't go away just yet, I am not ready for November and Desember. :(

It's like torture. =__= I was working in school today as a vicarious teacher and last week the school was closed because of autumn vacation. Today, on the first day after vacation, every adult was stressed and it was very hard for children to come back from vacation so they didn't concentrate on to anything. Just f***ing around. Hopefully the situation will settle down, because I have to work with those children the whole week.

 ... while I just returned from my own vacation plus one week of training, so at my place of work, it was me who had to get back in the saddle and sort everything out that had gone "wrong" while I and my OCD weren't there to arrange it just so. :P I did two hours overtime. And I can't even make them count, because "I like everything to be my way, thank you very much" is not an acceptable reason (when we document overtime, we have to give a reason). I had an intern following me around and she must have thought I was the worst tempered person ever, since I kept pursing my lips and tut-tutting. I tried to make it up to her by explaining as much as I possibly could and offering her coffee.

Oh dear!

I'm good with children for very very very very small dose. A scenario like that would probably send me into my first public crying, sitting in the middle of the floor cupping my ears.

When I was an intern, I'd rather follow someone who knows what they are doing, especially when they offer me coffee.

I am very bad at names and faces, but somehow I never forget nice thing people did for me on my first day at new jobs.

So I think you are fine (hint: train her to do things your OCD way :))

Welcome to teachers life. :P Actually, most of the pupils are very nice and easy, but the complicated ones are those you remember the best, unfortunately. You always have to struggle with them, and they might have some problems in family. That is very sad, because it is really hard to help them. You just have to try to get along with them and not to be offended if they are rude.

Ah yes, patience is definitely a virtue in the teaching game. I teach older teens and adults, not children, but sometimes you'd hardly know the difference. :D By and large it's a huge amount of fun, though. But you're right, hann, some of the most memorable students are the ones you'd just as soon forget!

Geez, I don't know how you guys can do that.

So, for words of encouragement and gratitude to ease your responsibility and pressure:

Remember, what you do have potential to mess up a child because you are maybe the only/one of the few aduts they look up to.

:)

And that, in a nutshell, is why I only teach adults. -_-

That doesn't necessary mean you won't mess one up.

No pressure! :)

Oh, I've tried my darnedest, but most adults seem pretty resilient. I only reduce one to tears every other week or so.

Every other week or so?! That's simply not good enough!

But they're so .... callous!

Holy carbonara!!

I thought you are the nice one, didn't know you are out for blood.

That is definitely going to ruin their lives.. they will never be the same again.

Ha, I hadn't thought of that. How to destroy your enemies: hook them on Sherlock! Neat....

Just got back from watching the firework display, and the beach was filled with bonfires, which was cool, but then around the people around the bonfires were loads of other people taking artsy shots to upload to Facebook and Instagram :S Kind of takes the soul out of it a bit.

I will never ever never ever ever ever understand the need of selfies.

Was there any Trump effigy?

I read there are quite a lot this year.

Nope didn't see any Trump effigies. Don't know that that many people care enough about Trump where I live to build an effigy.

Shoot, I wish I'd thought of that.

Not too late.

I read there are a lot of Trump's pinata as well. :)

Never had one, but I believe any excuse should be acceptable to have pinata. :p

I was at a party that had a piñata once. I guess we were about 8 or 9. We whacked away at that thing with our sticks, but couldn't break it open. Finally the older teenage brother of the birthday boy had to take it down and smash it open with a baseball bat. :D

And now that I say that, you're right ... that would be even more satisfying than burning an effigy, wouldn't it? Hm......

So, after making it into work an hour later than planned and slightly hung over (I'm not Harry Watson I promise) I had to eat my breakfast with a teaspoon since all the other spoons have apparently gone AWOL, and am now hunched in the office trying not to freeze to death. I seem to have reverted back to my student days and want nothing more than to go home and go back to bed. And I haven't even looked at my inbox yet. :S

Skip a wedding with honest excuse: No offense, I don't wish to attend because it means crowd and social interactions with people.

But I sent nice gift.

:p yes it works!

I stayed in a place that has 'tradition' to expect guests to bring gifts equivalent to supposed dinner cost. (Preferably monetary) No kidding. If it's a nice place/setting/hotel, you should give more. There is even an unwritten guidelines and some people are experts on that. That is the proper way. And the wedding could be very impersonal, just formal introduction of the married couple/more like ceremony that most of the time you feel like useless sitting duck, that your presence doesn't mean anything except a handshake and to help cover their cost.

The last few times I attended weddings I was bored to tears because I had to sit through couple of hours dinner with boring companions on the table. Strangers, understandable, but some colleagues who seem interesting could be very boring after the past half hour.

Well, the one that I had just avoided is not exactly like that. She would be happy with my presence but two minutes handshake to make her happy is not equal with my four hours misery and two hours ride. She is not that close and I am selfish.
