Geez.

I saw the headline but haven't read it.

And the last thing in my mind is that's something to be proud of.

And this.

Using concentration camp to talk about the importance of invincible US Military.

Is he frigging kidding?

US congressman condemned for Auschwitz gas chamber video

Posted

The wrestling video. I saw that the guy who originally tweeted/posted it issued an apology.

Not sure if it's genuine, but it was well written, I hope he is genuinely frightened with the possible impact it could cause and surprised with how 'little thing' from someone unknown could go in that direction.

Meanwhile the president, who is well known, with much more power and capable to influence and mislead the, literally, whole world, didn't say anything?

This can easily be explained. You see CNN tracked down the person who made that gif of Trump taking down CNN.

CNN then attempted to contact this man but the man did not respond. Instead he issued an apology on reddit (which has since been taken down). After issuing the apology, he allowed CNN to contact him. He seemed afraid of his identity being revealed. CNN released this statement:

CNN is not publishing "HanA**holeSolo's" name because he is a private citizen who has issued an extensive statement of apology, showed his remorse by saying he has taken down all his offending posts, and because he said he is not going to repeat this ugly behavior on social media again. In addition, he said his statement could serve as an example to others not to do the same.

CNN reserves the right to publish his identity should any of that change.

So basically CNN now has this guy on a leash. He had no choice but to apologise. I even heard some Trump supporters saying that CNN was threatening his freedom of speech lol.

But anyway, CNN doesn't have the same leverage over the U.S. President. Trump can continue to be the world's biggest troll and get away with it as long as he's President. The impeachment can't come fast enough.

Jezus Christ, that's horrifying, what's wrong with people?

Okay, the congressman behaved a bit not good, but I don't think it has to be blown into an international affair.

I would even say from a certain POV he was right in his statement.

As for the CNN video

1. now we know what T is doing instead of his job: he's browsing Reddit and Co in search of a videos with himself.

2. I actually feel sorry for the author. It's not even sure if the video is pro or against T, it can be read both ways. The person who actually should apologize is T himself.

3. CNN gives their opponents a good weapon by tracking and putting a pressure on that person. I can hear the comments like "CNN plays police" and suppress the freedom of speech.

According to the article, the gif was first posted on r/The_Donald which is a very pro-Trump subreddit. I think it's clear that the gif was meant to be pro-Trump.

Sorry, maybe I'm just cruel, but I don't feel sorry for the author. :moriarty:

That gif can easily be read as a call for violence against the media. It's not something anyone should be joking about in the current political climate when the U.S. President is always accusing the media of lying.

This guy was a troll and, for once, the internet was used against him and made him responsible for his actions. He had to learn that just because he was behind a computer screen, didn't mean he could do whatever he wanted and get away with it. Personally I think stuff like this has to happen more.

I don't know, to me it seems wrong on so many levels.

In a way, Auschwitz happened because there was some sort of 'invincible military', feeling of superiority, and delusion of doing something good and condemnation for certain group (although the last one is implication but there is hardly prize to guess what it is about).

So I think it's really f*up.

I agree with you.

Experienced firsthand how little it takes to get idiots up and running for the wrong cause. Some people don't need much convinving and easily provoked, sometimes they didn't even understand the exact cause they were raising up for.

Never ever underestimate human stupidity.

His statement was probably meant that you need another invincible army to fight the first one. Because without the military power of USA Hitler might have won.

That is how I understood it as well, JP. But I still think the congressman is an insensitive clod for filming the video there.

Oh, thanks, JP, just when I was starting to relax a little....

Who said Trump has trust issue? He trusts Putin. :P

Anyway, good God. I have been living under the rock for other political news, distracted by T.

Anyone read about what happened in Marawi city, Mindanao, Philippines?

That is horrifying and I wonder why it's not as well covered.

You mean the earthquake?

No, that a city named Marawi had been in a siege of local Islamic group that had pledge allegiance to ISIS, murders, replacing homes, occupying schools and churches, taken people hostages and gunned down soldiers, also prison breaks.

If the source is believable (couldn't find a lot of them) as of June 24th, the clashes have killed at least 69 soldiers, 280 terrorists, 26 civilians and displacing 200000 residents. Not sure about the other casualties and impacts.

Well, I can think of two reasons:

1. It's not in Europe

2. Maybe it's because we had so many terrorist attacks that we simply don't bother covering it.

Posted

It's been in the news here, but not well covered. I get the impression there's a general lack of information coming out about it. Mostly we've heard about Duterte declaring martial law.

Holee crud. That I missed, because I haven't seen the news for a few days. :(

Both true.

 Twitter users are suing Trump for blocking their comments. Personally I don't think they have a leg to stand on, but it's pretty funny ... they're going after T where it really hurts. :lol5:

So Trump, in front of his own wife and the French President, just said this to the French President's wife:

"You're in such good shape. She's in such good physical shape. Beautiful."  :wtf:

You're welcome :).

Some good news: Donald Trump jr had a email scandal of his own http://secondnexus.com/politics-and-economics/e-mail-donald-trump-jr-received-russian-lawyer-meeting-bad-news-white-house/?utm_content=inf_10_1164_2&tse_id=INF_583ce230666311e790011d41b85aaeb5 and someone filed a request for impeachment http://secondnexus.com/politics-and-economics/house-democrat-files-first-articles-of-impeachment/?utm_content=inf_10_1164_2&tse_id=INF_319d60b067f711e790011d41b85aaeb5 yeah, I know the odds of his son being prosecuted is very tiny and we'll get Pence if by some miracle Trump gets impeached but let's just enjoy the moment.
