That's a better guess than mine! I thought maybe Trump was referring to the rockets that North Korea's been testing. But why he would think that's funny, I have no idea. I wish we could attach Trump to a rocket and fire him off.... to Pluto, preferably.

I agree. I have never voted for her party but I do think she's got all her marbles and I have lived pretty happily under her government for a while.

 

What I at least was referring to is that for the first time since the 60s, an ultra-right party has made it into our federal parliament. Sure, they didn't get a ton of votes but they came in 3rd. In Germany, with its history of fascism, this is a big deal, especially since some prominent members of this fairly new party have made very relativistic statements about the Nazi regime. Also, the tone of political debates is shifting towards a less civilized, more Trump-ian one.

 

Right now, the situation here is still a far cry from yours, but many people are wondering how long we'll be able to say that. Behaviors and statements that were, in my opinion rightfully, not considered acceptable from anyone holding a public office are getting normalized at an alarming rate.

It is baffling to me why fascism and its ilk seem to be gaining ground in so many places, including here in the States. To me it's no different than the radical Islam they purport to hate. Two wings of the same bird. How do people get like that? One of the great mysteries of my life.

Apparently we don't really get more civilized, those, yes, imbeciles, thanks, are just hidden all along and now they are starting to get out because there are excellent examples that those attitude and thinking are all right.
