Any guess about what his enneagram tritype could be? Even people with the same alphabet soup could seems very different in behaviour because they have different coping strategies. Enneagram explains about emotional coping strategies. For example, enneagram three is characterized by constant desire for status acknowledgement and the way they seek for this is by making achievements. When we are talking about tritype we are dipping into the realm of subtle nuances that affects how the internal processes become expressed outside.

Sometimes it takes real life-threatening event (example, my father) to stop, and sometimes it is still failed to do so. Perhaps besides willpower also there's difference between the receptors at the brain that rewards pleasure. I am not sure what it is called, it has been awhile since the last time I researched the mechanism of addiction at human beings. There's a matter of responsibility and desire to keep our loved one safe, but could it truly triumphed over biological mechanism, especially if it is already being permanently altered by long time exposure to certain substances? Our ability to adapt could be two edged sword sometimes. Yesterday I read about the pro and contra about the acceptance of obesity these days. Apparently one of the reasons why some people finds it difficult (if not impossible) to stop eating in big portions is because they're using food to distract themselves from their problems. Do you think that it could be the same with smoking/vaping? Not telling that we should just accept addiction, in whatever form it takes, but in my thinking if we wants to solve a problem why not trying to understand the anatomy and mechanism, in hope that we could create solutions that benefits all involved people and create the most minimum damages for everyone? What could we do if we are in position of affecting the addicted person, and what we could do if we are not? In macro and micro scope. Addiction is a complex problem that keeps changing its shape.

Everybody here talk about Sherlock and only him. Well, as someone who is always more interested on the older of the Holmes brothers, I would say that I don't mind versions that change his character dramatically. As long as I find the adaptation/version/whatever is to my taste then it is fine. (Glares towards Mofftiss for making Mycroft looks like a wimp at his own home and Sherrinford when it was him who went undercover to a Serbian crimelord's lair to rescue baby brother who got himself captured and tortured).

Part and parcel of the image of perfection as an elven-king, eh (must be exhausting ^^; ). Brownies? Wait... that's wood-elves and in this universe they looks like Tauriel. That reminds me, today I have time to bake some brownies the cake. Fudgy-brownies... yum. A chocoholic in need of occasional death by chocolate dose. :D- 830 replies

It seems so to my eternal shame.... I want that kind of hair (without the surely god-awful efforts to keep it gorgeous like that, please). XD Also, he is aesthetically pleasant. If there is such thing as male-beauty he would be easily occupy the nomination for the top spot. 0_0 How on earth he keep that hair from getting tangled so much, with teflon-coating or what?!- 830 replies

Introverts, how is your day?
Shadow Dweller replied to Van Buren Supernova's topic in Miscellaneous Musings
1. Times like these it is easy to see why there is a saying that when introverts thinks before saying, the extroverts talks before they think. 2. People who is control freak even in private life and fond of inflicting it on others (especially to ME) is asking for trouble. No need to cry if backlash is coming your way, you reap what you sow. -

Try sticking with the crowd who talks about science, social-economy and politics. Nosy busybody who loves to stick their uninvited noses into other people's private business tends to avoid those kind of topics because it is boring for them and or they have real difficulty on joining the discussion because of lack of knowledge to make their opinion count in that particular circle. -
On my side of the network it has been several days of exchanging ghost stories, both from reading about it to personal experience. I have one to share here. One day around midnight at a funeral home I attended a ceremony for a member of my extended family. When I went towards the parking lot I passed the side of a building used to store human ashes, that's where I saw a shimmering column of light. That column looks smoky / semi-solid at best, floating about a meter above my head and as tall as the average adult around here. At first I didn't think of supernatural cause, in my mind it might be some sort of atmospheric phenomenon or trick of light but when the car that carried me and my cousins about to pass there and I pointed towards the column they said that they didn't see anything there. It was not the first nor the last time I saw something that could fit into the category of possible paranormal occurrence.

Myers-Briggs personality types -- and quiz

Some people call this particular system as fraud, a complete lie etc but for me it is useful to understand some of the idiosyncrasies of people in general. This time it is an ISTJ woman (yeah, I know at least one ISTJ woman here and I actually respect her), self-tested several times but I don't know the percentages. Sensors according to the MBTI classification system were moulded by their environment. If they grew up in a good one then they will adopt the value and be truly pillars of the society. However, if they grew up in an environment where there are plenty of bad examples then they have big chance to absorb and mimic the behaviours and mindset. This time it is my own sibling. She is bossy, loves to impose 'order' (which is actually her own version for it and according to my standard is idiotic and ineffective to deal with the actual problems), dumb but hates to learn and expand her horizon unless being prodded with the tip of sword called life's necessities, loves to try to control her surrounding (crazy, the only thing we can truly control is ourselves), and ego-driven most of the time. What is the female equivalent of the Peter Pan Syndrome? Because at the past she had several times expressed her wish that she is still a child. Childhood is not something I prefers to repeat unless I can bring the current mindset and abilities with me, it is the period where I am most vulnerable to the whims of my nuclear family, the period when I am most helpless on the face of their physical, mental and psychological abuses. I loathes that period in my life, at least now as an adult I can decide how I would like to live and away from their clutches. No, I don't have intention to help my sister, the way that spoiled brat treated me for years already ensured that I would watch her sink without lifting a finger at all. I envy people with family who did not treat them like freak who needs to be forced to fit the cookie-cutter ideal of how people should lead their life. I think after all of that that the most important lesson I need to learn in life, which I never get from my own biological family, is kindness and compassion. I saw them doing things that might look kind and good to outsider but actually was driven by their own need for gratitude. I saw how they reacted when the expected gratitude didn't came. Like it or not it shaped my view of the world. I am a blend of cynical and idealist most of the time. -

Shadow Dweller replied to Banshee's topic in Miscellaneous Musings
I don't like people who insists to impose their values to me, we all have our own way of life and nobody can change it besides by our own will. People who try to force others to live according to their personal set of rules, usually in the name of making their life easier according to personal standard, are loathsome low-life. You may live with your own rules of what is 'proper' and loads of ought to and should to but if you dare to enter my territory with your rules that doesn't make sense to me then be prepared to live according to mine or be prepared for a war you will regret ever triggering on the first place. -

Ever since I can remember. I used to find people in my own age group and below to be chaotic, disturbing and just plain (brain) slow (see what is really makes me dislike people in general? lol). I prefers to interact with people from older age groups, they just have so much things to teach me about life and they have bigger chance to understand what I am talking about. My maternal instinct seems to be directed mostly to dogs and cats no matter the age but I do often fantasizing of dispersing 'justice' to people who harm those who did not attacked them on the first place. -

VBS and Pseudonym's stories sounds similar with my own past experiences. Toby's wondering make sense in the light of my friend's behaviour. She really loves children to the point of working in a place where children and teenagers with behavioural problems was living in some kind of boarding house. My friend wants children of her own but she cannot stand the idea of living in an apartment with another adult. She often talk about her 'students' and when I fed up I finally told her that I don't like children. She still forced that particular subject at times and each time she did that I either changed to a subject that I know she didn't have interest on or immediately cut off the connection. She would always reach back to me the next time she want to talk again. The last time she talk about children I remind her again about my dislike to them and she dare to say, "But I like them." Oh really, I thought to myself while cutting the connection. What about my dislike to them, is it not worthy enough for you to mind when you have a portion of my precious time and attention? Why the heck should I care about your feeling if you often so casually trampled mine like that for your own personal gratification? Toby's words reminds me to that and I think my friend might be using children to fulfill something that she perceived as didn't have in life up to this point. Why I think that she might be using children for that? Because what she often talk about is how cute (and all its variants) and when I steered towards the next few years when toddlers becomes teenagers and finally young adults she seems to grudgingly admit that. Babies especially, she would go CRAZY about them. -

Besides personal preference about what kind of scents I like, that vile stuff also always ruined any non-complimentary perfume. The same reason I cannot stand most perfumes made for women, the cloying sweetness (for my olfactory sense at least) often means headache and nausea. Come to think about it, my actual problem could be the sweet scent instead of the floral. Vanilla especially, it is good on baked stuff but definitely not in perfume. I remember of automatically covering my nose each time entering a room with vanilla-scented perfume dispenser. -

*scratches head* are you from Australia? Because as far as I know, everywhere else it's autumn. Not exactly. But I do live around there right now. Biggest enemies are high temperature and mosquitoes.
