Sir Ian McKellen as "Mr. Holmes"
Bakerstreet Irregular replied to Convict13's topic in Other Versions
I more than understand all of that. But he blamed himself for not doing enough but in all honesty and 2020 hind sight it may not have changed anything. He imposed self exile for something that was, in all likelihood, not his fault at all.- 146 replies

Youtube also has a lot of Sherlock cosplay vids and some have the players doing makeup tutorials. Tumblr may be a good place to look for those as well. Good luck and have fun.

Would never dis you, Arcadia.

It's scary, all the stuff that kids are told to be true, only to find out how much stuff you have to unlearn when you get older. Bombarded with lies and misinformation 24/7 it seems now-a-days.

Okay, I'm going wwwaaaayyyyy out on a limb here. But I think the negative reaction to Mary is because she came between John and Sherlock. Broke up the dynamic duo. Forced John to leave Baker Street. One thing Mofftis said early on that yeah, they could have written it that way, but they thought of it of being the lazy way out. Also it is canon that John did marry and leave Baker Street and more then once. But you saw the shippers reaction on Tumblr and the xxx rated John/Sherlock fanfiction. That is my take on it anyway. I like Mary. In the original story Holmes liked Mary, paying her rare compliment. Saying she might even be an asset to his and Watson's work. But it's canon that she dies, so we will see.

Shoot the Wall (A.K.A. The Rant Thread)
Bakerstreet Irregular replied to Banshee's topic in Miscellaneous Musings
Oh the mismatched sock thing is a very "in thing" right now so why not shoes? I do it at work, just because I know no one is going to care and if they do....who cares. My sister who is turning 60 this year even does it....on purpose.....so yeah.....really.....it's no biggie. -
Thank you for the trigger waning, Arcadia!

Since watching BBC Sherlock and then going to back to watch Jeremy Brett's portrayal, I could wish that Homes was the "cold machine" that Watson thought of him in the books. But of course, even there, we catch glimpses of the deeply caring, lonely Holmes that was all to eager to pull Watson away from hearth and home and would pull a snit if he thought Watson was on the verge of refusing. I really do like TSoT.....but the ending is so so close to home. Weddings are dreadful affairs.

John was in and out of residence of Baker Street after Holmes's return from the Great Hiatus. You may be right, Boton, in fact a whole lot of people are really hoping to see the last of Mary as soon as possible with no baby ever in sight. I kind of felt John was just reeling from one shock to another through out Season Three. It will be interesting how that is all dealt with in Season Four.

Welcome to the Sherlock Forum, CrownOfMoriarty! A new obsession and you're already seen it three times? Heck, that's not a bad start at all. Have fun.

99,316 times we pop our Ps and Ks just because Sherlock does it and it sounds really cool.

In the original stories, Mycroft's orbit is between the Club and his office in White Hall. But two have life size chess pieces in either of these places.....I always thought maybe he received Jim's text message at his estate. The same with the confrontation with Irene to avoid prying eyes and ears. Especially where Sherlock was in very deep. As would be Mycroft if the blackmail worked.

He also liked working on his scrapbooks, his indexes of crime, and doing all those experiments.

Series 4 (and Special) Speculation
Bakerstreet Irregular replied to T.o.b.y's topic in Special and Series 4
I think it has been discussed in another thread or two. Moriarty also said he loved news papers. They printed fairy tales. Sherlock also made reference to news papers and how they could wrap a lie up in just enough truth that people would eat it up. CAM would state that he didn't need proof all he had to do was print it. So yes, I think that there is some pretty strong evidence that Moriarty and CAM knew each other. -
What about Sherlock's feelings for Molly?
Bakerstreet Irregular replied to kattholmes's topic in Characters
And legends always grow with the retelling. There is no reason for the women that Moffat and Gatiss have brought to it to disappear. Cosplayers are adding female Sherlock and Watson's. The newer generation coming up and adding their two cents worth and they are the ones who will carry it on. So more power to them and wish them well and God speed. -
What about Sherlock's feelings for Molly?
Bakerstreet Irregular replied to kattholmes's topic in Characters
True, when he was contacted by people wanting to write plays and such he basically told them that they marry him off or murder him for all he cared. As for a woman pathologist, Doyle attended the Edinburgh school of medicine at a time when women were just being admitted so who knows. If he hadn't become disenchanted with Holmes, it might have happened. He was a man of his times but he was a bit ahead as well. I think Molly will be around for a long time now. And who knows, maybe future adaptations might pick up on it as well. We can only hope so. -

Oh yeah. This isn't the kind of relationship that happens over night. Not by a long shot.
